IHG Hotels that recognise status

I'm not a huge fan of PC, due to the lack of consistency, however they do have a good spread of hotels.

I've been impressed with HI Townsville - and there's something other ICH hotels can learn - I am more than happy to return here because they appreciate their loyal customers. Quite simple really!;)

I have also been impressed with the HI City & CP Christchurch when I was there last week:

Status: PC Platinum
Hotel: Holiday Inn City Christchurch
Booked: 1 Standard (with Bfast)
Received: 1 top floor Executive Suite
Welcome Amenities: Welcome letter

Status: PC Platinum
Hotel: Crowne Plaza Christchurch
Booked: 1 Standard Club Room
Received: 1 Executive Suite
Welcome Amenities: Welcome letter + some delicious dark chocs :)

It has been a while but I have always enjoyed my stays at the Christchurch CP. The staff were very welcoming.:)

Status: PC Platinum Royal Ambassador
Hotel: IC Sydney
Booked: King City View
Received: Club King Harbour East View room (Oprah had all the suites)
Welcome Amenities: 8 hour old warm, sock smelling like, Brie cheese (I think), bowl of fruit, bottle of wine.

Comments: Well apart from the warm Brie which made for an interesting smelling room on arrival the stay was great, as always good service, no issues with the free mini bar or using the weekend certificate despite my paid night being a Thursday. Conceirge was very good at getting a taxi for a workmate at 1AM despite the demand being very high.

The lounge as always is a highlight, an while I missed the drinks both nights I did take advantage of the breakfast which is good for a lounge .

Value: At $190 a night when using the BOGO it was great value especially with the double points offer on.

Comment: Platinum status really seemed to mean something here.

Status: PC Platinum
Hotel: Holiday Inn Sydney Airport
Booked: 1 Queen bed Standard
Received: 1 King bed Executive
Welcome Amenities: None

This is the third time I have been upgraded to this room - it is wrapped around behind the central lifts (but is very quiet), with an airport view, plunger coffee and 200mb of free internet.

No Bucket of beers?

Status: PC Platinum
Hotel: Holiday Inn Melbourne Airport
Booked: King Suite
Received: Presidential Suite
Welcome Amenities: Hand written note from FOM, packet of chocolate covered pinot noir grapes - delicious !

Never knew this suite existed ! Looks like 3 standard rooms (compared to the suites which are 2 standard rooms?) Enter into office area walk through to lounge with corner couch swivelling large coffee table (!!) and huge LCD screen. To the right is a dining room with table for 6 with a stereo system. From the dining room area is a full size kitchen with microwave, standard fridge/freezer etc and also a separate toilet. Much more contemporary than the other rooms in the hotel. Off the lounge is a large king bedroom, two single couches with small coffee table and a walk in wardrobe. Bathroom is much like the other rooms.

Cheers
Markh

Hotel: Holiday Inn Melbourne Airport

Booked a regular room, ended up on top floor in a small suite. Very nice. Nothing otherwise recognition wise.

Status: PC Platinum
Hotel: Holiday Inn Orchard (Singapore)

Was upgraded to top floor here. After their renovations, I love the new room design (have previously made some negative comments about the rooms).

No other recognition - although was given a drink voucher.

Status: PC Platinum
Hotel: Crowne Plaza Changi Airport.

No special recognition here. Can't complain about the room.

Status: PC Platinum
Hotel: Holiday Inn Burswood

Booked: Queen Urban
Got: King room
Free drink, welcome letter.

Status: PC Platinum
Hotel: Crown Plaza Canberra

Booked: King
Got: King Park View, Welcome GOLD letter, free internet when complained

Status: Platinum
Property: Crowne Plaza Tel Aviv

I arrived very early (around 7am) after an overnight flight from LHR and didn't complain that my room wasn't ready. I was eventually given one about 10.30am. It was two singles (profile is for king). Nothing else. No letter. No complimentary water. No lounge access. No complimentary internet. No offer for a late check-out.

Property: Holiday Inn Madrid

I was 'upgraded' to an 'executive floor' room (9th/top floor). Complimentary internet and two bottles of water. Late check-out to 2pm. There was a welcome plate of sweet treats in the room with the rooms manager's business card.

Finally, some real love.

Status: Priority Club Platinum
Property: InterContinental O R Tambo Airport Johannesburg
Somehow they think I'm an InterContinental Ambassador (which I've never paid for, although I've enquired several times) so I've got a 4pm check-out, upgraded room, free in-room movie, fruit bowl (well, two apples), upgraded room, welcome gift (two teaspoons with an African flavour), two shirts pressed, several bottles of water, free internet, welcome letter and a call from the head bellman after I checked in.

CP Pelican Waters

No gift or recognition and no upgrade, not surprising given hotel is a franchise and was full.
