IHG Hotels that recognise status

Status: Platinum RA
Hotel: HI Townsville (the sugar shaker)

Booked: Low level suite
Received: Grand Deluxe Suite on 18th Floor (three rooms in size with full kitchen)

Had a bottle of wine and note from GM on table on arrival.

One of the suites two bathrooms had been converted into a loo/laundry by removing the shower and installing a washing machine and dryer, I noted the old shower soap holder had not been removed and was surprised to see a shower cap in its box on it, you have a washing problem if you need to use a shower cap.

Considering the price paid (~AUD62/night + 5,000 PC points) I thought it was actually quite good. The room had a nice layout, nice views and was quiet with complimentary water and fruit.

If I had to pay the asking rate of ~AUD160/night then I would most likely be as disappointed as you

I just checked into the CP Bangalore as an RA Plat, and they seem to have given me a queen with club access (such as it is - not a good lounge!) instead of the 2 singles I was booked in (only ended up with the singles due to crowding), a pretty decent plate of biscuits and fruit in the room and an invite to Wednesday night coughtail hour.

Damn nice hotel, actually! I'm quite impressed.

Have a day stay at the CP Changi coming up on my way home, will be interesting to see if they can compete.

Only recognition at the CP Changi for me turns out to be checking me in an hour and a half early - they apparently had me in a different room originally, so it's possible that it would have had a bowl of fruit or something, but the early check on a rate that only gives you 8 hours is so worth missing out on fruit!

Edit: Update! They sent up a set of very tasty mini-desserts mid-afternoon, which was nice.

Whats the suite like, I suspect its nothing special?

Whats the suite like, I suspect its nothing special?

It's the size of two standard rooms. Office desk on one side, two seater couch with two single seats and a glass coffee table in the middle (takes up most of the room) and king bed at other end. Plasma screen (34" ?) opposite the couch which can't be seen from the bed or desk. Dated bathroom with separate vanity room, spa & toilet in next room. Weird glass bricks in one corner of the bathroom which allows you to sort of be seen whilst showering or using toilet from the office desk. Two double slide glass doors opening out to fantastic balcony with view of the ocean and the Esplanade.

I would class this an Executive Spa room rather than a suite. I would not pay the normal rate without a special discount.

Hotel: Holiday Inn Darling Harbour

Booked standard room on best flexible rate, ended up in a corner suite (which really isn't that exciting, but at least they tried!). They seem to be giving me a decent sized bottle of water each day too.
