I'm feeling a bit sad ...[My SC's are getting wiped today... =( ]

Easily - you get 100% points bonus on flights that are longer than 500 miles (you get it on all flights but the minimum points guarantee overrides the shorter sectors), so BNE - DRW its 1773 miles bonus for WP versus 886 for SG.

Depending on your travel movements those extra miles could add up to 50000 points or more, given you can get 260 SCs with 48000 points on two JASA's, the extra mileage effectively pay for a status run that gets you back to WP for SG.

Thanks for the speedy reply. :)

Sorry if this is already out there in AFF-land, but how do you get 260SCs with 48000 points? All the JASAs I have looked at seem to want MASSES of points.

I'm about 400 off WP and wasn't going to bother but if I can pick them up with less than 100K points, it would probably be worth it to me.

Maybe we need a best value SC JASA topic, depends on where you live, for instance CBR-HBA is 16000 points + some cash and needs to route via SYD for 100 SCs, ADL-TSV via BNE is 24000 points + around $80 and gets you 120 SCs, TSV-DRW is 140 SCs and is 24000 points + $90, but it returns quite a few points as well which add to the value.

Well I said bye bye to 990SCs.

And I already know it's going to be difficult to get the 600 I need to "retain". I'll make the new PS threashold i'd say, but SG will be a bit more difficult to retain this year. :(

Thanks. It seems I need to do a bit more searching to find the good JASA fares. Love the idea of a 'best value JASA' topic :)

Likewise, I’m going to know the feeling come March next year, but with the help of markis10 maybe I’ll have a fighting chance using JASA’s.

+1

I can also vouch for markis10. He has been a very big help in propelling me to WP this year. Big thanks for his help!

I am pondering if going for WP is really worth it and am putting a RTW with SC Run's on hold for the moment. Gold seems to be pretty good in the way that you get access to OW Lounges when flying on another carrier. To me, that and the 50% bonus points are pretty much the only difference between SG and QC/Silver. However, everyone weights benefits up differently.

Not really QF SC related but I had my first significant amount of SC's wipe today with DJ

Sad to see them just vanish into thin air, but on the bright side I have lounge access for the next year at least

Slightly off-topic, but you waited almost 3 months to get dominos pizza credit?! Yikes!

Yep, the Shopandearn store is a terrible system, I don't bother chasing transactions on there up because they are usually tiny amounts anyway, if they credit thats great, if they don't big whoop;)

I had a magnitude of over 2,500 wiped.

Next current QF booking is Feb 2011

Bye bye 1870SC's. Biggest tally l have ever had on QF. If l had gotten SC's on my FIFO flights (Network, Skywest, Maroomba, Skippers) and if my flights on QF were credited in full Y, instead of Discount Y, l would be well over 3000 mark, possibly higher.

Oh well, time to start racking them up again. However, due to a career change, l doubt l will get more than 100SC's this coming "year". QF, please comp me WP...

Aah, that's the delicious thing about living in CBR - I fly out of here about every 2nd weekend for something to do so get oodles of status credits in my own right without even including work travel :D

I tip my hat to you getting that number of SCs in discount Y though.

I think there were a few KUPP/YUPPs thrown in there ;)

I know the feeling gumpy. Mine will also reset to zero in December and without any type of promo and the NAN J Runs coming to an end, l will "almost certainly struggle" to make Gold next year as my travel plans are changing in a very big way. Getting WP Comped will be the only way for me l think. (Then again, AFF is a "treasure trove" of info and l'm also being optimistic that something will pop up within the next

Happy travels

When are the J NAN runs ending guys? On one shortly.

CX looks good out of TPE as well. Pity hkg- tpe is under the 600 mile threshold, would be even better.

I've found a good little status run out of TPE in Jan 2011, TPE-HKG-MNL in J, return (all in the one day), AUS $545 and will earn 200 status credits. Some nice F lounging along the way.

Can also do TPE-HKG-BKK for just over $700.

If you book very early you may also get a TPR-HKG-SIN for about the same price and get 240 status credits. Be aware when looking at the SIN run that not many discount J seats are released and you may be put into a Y seat.

I will elaborate on my SC earning this "year"
NAN J Run 720 (Double promo SC Run)
ASA J Run 400 (Double promo SC Run)
SYD-HKT Full Y and J return (60 and 120 respectfully)

That is 1300, if l recall the numbers (feel free to correct me).

I then did a number of PER-SYD/KTA/BME/BNE work trips which were between 10 and 30 SC one way. So yes, the other 570 were done the hard way, down the back (l think that 1 or 2 were during the promo time), in discount whY. I had no idea l was going to rack up so many SC's at the start of the year, but that's the way my "year" panned out so to speak.

I also did a number of FIFO charter flights which didn't earn SC's or points.

PER to Cloudbreak/Tanami/Kambalda/Golden Grove (another others l can't recall). I figure there is another ~600 'odd SC's (maybe more) from the top of my head and a few Jetstar flights where l didn't get SC's for either.

Happy travels

And tonight I wave goodbye to 1565 SCs. My first time at the WP level.

So far I have 820 SCs booked for my next membership year and my first flight is on 02 Dec, BNE-CBR for 10 SCs.

Am looking forward to F Lounging around Asia in Jan/Feb. :)
