I am off to WLG and AKL shortly and would like to get one as soon as I land (or better still get a micro sim from someone who has one and isnt usng it any more...)
In my ignorance I didn't know that there were no ipads in NZ. I would definitely recommend anyone travelling regularly to get a My Zone or other 3G wi-fi router. It's great to be able to drop in a local pre- paid sim and run all devices from it.markis10 said:The iPad has not been released in NZ yet, I would suggest the portable 3G router might be the way to go as apparently local microsims are hard to come by:
Travelling to NZ - Prepaid NZ microsim? - iPad
Hiya - I noticed some chatter about India... I will be heading there in a week (for a week, followed by a week in HK), with new iPad 3G in hand.
Any suggestions for cheap sim cards for data in India??
Likewise a pointer to a cheap sim for data in HK would be nice too...
Cheers.
On that topic - any suggestions for pico projectors?
Any suggestions on a retailer in Oz?
I could be offbase here Simon, but the only place with stock (in Melbourne) a few weeks ago was either JB Hifi or the official Apple store.
For the projectors?
That is what I was looking for...
I am surprised that this thread has not picked up on this:
IPAD owners are six times more likely to be wealthy, highly educated and sophisticated 30-50 year olds who value power and achievement.
They're also selfish and unkind, according to a survey of 20,000 people conducted by US consumer research firm MyType.
I am still amazed at the iPad hate by people who don't own one (reading through the comments).
Biggest gripes are a lack of USB (I havent missed that) and the ability to install whatever software you want. I am finding that being able to grab the software I need from the app store as a reliable source (no hidden nasties) to be a much easier way to get stuff than trawling the net looking for the right piece of software.
Overall my only gripe to date is that I would love a good stylus and handwriting recognition App. I do not miss the forward facing camera as I think the iPad would be too heavy for prolonged use so I will resort to an iPhone 5 next year (whilst buying an iPhone 4 for my mum to use as well).
