J Seat choice on A380

I have a 'supplementary question' for the house (forum) - hope that's ok.

Mrs'tork and I are taking toddler'tork J on QF31 to SIN (stay a few days) then on to LHR. Haven't bought toddler'tork a seat (will be 12 months old, won't sleep alone anyway).

Now, toddler'tork is a good natured little girl, but she's still only 12 months old = occasional crying, messy eating etc. I phoned QF and asked what seats would be best to be able to get up to carry her around and for us to cause the least disturbance to other J passengers. Was told 25J/K.

Leaving aside the question of whether babies/toddlers should be in J anyway (if this trip goes pear-shaped, I'll fly Y for the next 4 years and buy extra seats with the difference), is this reasonable? Has anyone got any suggestions? Other than to warn AFF forum members not to be in 24J/K on those particular flights?

Cheers,
'tork

Met lots of lovely toddlers and parents in the lounge area in front of 11J/K enough room for Miss 'tork to have a ball. Try to be seated as near to this as possible.
Enjoy ;)

You are making me want to change from 11E to 13E if it is still available.

What's Emerald City Serfty, besides the movie and the fact it's a nickname for Sydney?

I know Sydney as Sin City!!!

Emerald city was coined in a David Williamson play?

New term with me re travel but as our NY friend has opined all WP seats!?

Makes sense, I like it.

"Emerald City"

I first heard the term [in relation to a QF 388] from a Flight Attendant while sitting in 80A preparing for a journey to LAX.

Meaning the front end of any section? Rather than rows 11-13 on the A380?

 I thought it was in reference to The Wizard of Oz. I've always felt like Dorothy whenever I'm there ;)

There is a soft lighting ( blue/purple??) at the bar in front of 11A/B, it did not disturb me. ...
Unless you were having a few 'staffies', that would be 11J/K - the area forward of 11A/B is a mini galley and CSM's 'office'.:p

Sorry  I was referring to the actual bar where the drink bottles are left for self service not the red sofa in front of J/K. I have sat in both A and K. I prefer K as I like to be social and it's a quick hop to the front. Lighting as I recall is pinkish purple when its dark, continuing down the stairs to F.
I've never been bothered by noise or light in either of these seats.

Ok back to the thread.........

Any views on 11E versus 13E ??????

Thanks
Both are in EC! :p

Ok,

I have flown in 13D and it was fine; can't imagine 13E being any different.

Never been in 11E but from one 12D trip I suspect you would have a good view of the various occupant(s) of the "lounge".

Business class seats on Qantas A380

Could someone tell me if the business class exit row seats 24 A & B on 380 are OK. Seat guru says they have less legroom than other business seats on the plane. Thank you for your help.

Not sure how that would be. All J seats on the A380 are fully lie flat, at 6'6" so they'd all have to have a minimum legroom. I wouldn't worry! FWIW, best seats are the 3 rows in the front cabin (11,12,13 from memory). Middle seats are best, particularly if you're traveling alone, so you don't have to step over anyone.

re: Business class seats on Qantas A380

Thanks for answering. I thought what seat guru said was strange about the exit rows, as you would think there was more room there.

There are two of us travelling and at the moment do not have access to those seats you recommended.

I wonder if there is someone who has seen these exit rows and knows what seat guru is talking about.

I've seen them but don't remember! Has been a couple of years since I've been on the A380. I would have thought there'd be more room too - on the 747 in the Upper Deck exit there is definitely more room, so I don't know why this would be different, unless there is a bulkhead there maybe?
