J Seat choice on A380

Love 11K.
Window storage, first for meal. Easy hop to lounge area.
Can be a little noisy, but I would take it over row 12 every time.
Just be aware that 11K has a 'medicinal' power supply in the later deliveries, and one can be asked to vacate it should someone require a CPAP or similar. :(

Thanks Serfty, as I've mentioned previously this hasn't happened to me (yet!) but I would be happy to swap for a seat at the bottom of the front stairs ;)

Me thinks 11A it is then :)

Re: Business class seats on Qantas A380

This type of question pops up every now and again, and the question should be asked as: Is there really any bad J seats on the A380? And the answer is definitely no. Sure there are some minute differences but in the scheme of things, any J seat is perfectly fine - 10x better than in Y, that's for sure.

Re: Business class seats on Qantas A380

When 11B is fully lie-flat, I did find it awkward to get from 11A out to the aisle.

Not sure how that compares with other seats though.

I specifically checked this out on my trip in July, and there is an element of having to climb over. When fully extended the skybed almost touches the bulkhead or the seat in front.

The seats are similar, but sitting towards the rear of J means getting served a fair time after those at the front. This is a bit of an issue on a night flight if you want to eat and then go straight to sleep. It was an issue for me on LHR-SIN and then SIN-MEL.

I agree, but there really isn't a bad J seat and I'll take any if was given half the chance.

Previously commented,

Having flown in 13B, 19B and now 24B there are pro's and con's for all of those seats.

13B in Emerald City is nice, upfront where meals gets served first. Its more of a private mini cabin, but not as mini as Rows 24/25. Also closer to the J onboard lounge.

19B which is smack bang in the middle of everything, just a standard J seat IMO. Meals gets served halfway but in the middle of the larger of three cabins felt it wasn't as private.

24B right at the back, exit row is nice, and felt extremely open, spacious and airy. Downside is the meals were served last and we waited forever, well it felt that way. It was far away from the bathroom and when meal service is in progress the trolleys can block both aisle access. I was directed by a purser to just use the Y+ toilet and I felt the stares from the Y+ folks.

Personally 11-13 is probably has the most pro's ..... and then I would probably go for row 24 next as its more private and felt much more spacious, then anything else in the main J cabin.

Fair comment!

When the 747's are refitted with the Skybed Mk II I just might go for 747 top deck over 388 main business cabin. (Leave me alone you 23D lovers :p)

I'd still take emerald city over anywhere on he 747.

Re: Business class seats on Qantas A380

Just had row 13 open up to me today on A380 and I am only SG! (6th Oct QF9)

This is the first time I have had access to anything further than row 16 (except T-80 and I do not fly for 5 weeks).

I do make WP half way through this DONE4 trip so could this be it, or have they changed policy??

I cant access any further on my domestic bookings so they have not given me WP early.

I have the option of 13B, E, F or J (but not rows 11 or 12)

Re: Business class seats on Qantas A380

Hi,
Quick question....
Taking the A380 Hkg-Syd-Hkg in early Feb 2012 Feb3 and back Feb 19. Anyone one know whether these will be the existing aircrafts or newly (to be?) acquired configured ones?
Got 24 A & B but 13 A & B also available but going with the current aircrafts configuration....right choice?

I'd definitely go for 13.

The new config won't be flying until mid-2012 at the earliest, if not a bit later depending on how the 744's are going.

Thanks for the info. I shall retain my 13 A&B for the night flight QF128 and take 24 A&B for the daytime flight QF127.

Cheers,

Ric

Re: Business class seats on Qantas A380

I've managed to allocate seats in 13 as a SG :D

Congrats! When is your flight? I'm securely planted in 12A and 11A for my next two trips to Europe.

Be aware 13 is subject to galley and toilet noise. (and Qantas staff seem to have the subtlety of Gordon Ramsey in the galley) Not as bad as 16 though which is a shocker.

That's a sub branch upstairs - the main branch is the galley near row 50 where the FA's often congregate for a good chinwag mid flight.:-|

I have experienced the first hand too. :-| The quietness of the A380 seems to amplify the chatter from the galley.

And the clanking and banging :!: Not to mention the public toilet waiting area in the morning next to row 16  It is a remarkably thoughtless piece of interior design.

12E or 16A on the A380

Hi all

Off to HKG/PEK on Sunday. Currently allocated 12E on QF127/8. Having just checked EF I see that 16A is free. My understanding was that 16A is an emergency exit seat thus has plenty of legroom and is a window seat which doesn't require stepping over your seat buddy to get to the aisle.

As this will be a day time flight I wouldn't mind a window seat given I don't plan to be sleeping (much).

Any thoughts on this seat allocation?

Cheers

S
