Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

JQ816, the Wednesday 12 December 2018 SYD - BNE timetabled to depart at 1100 took off at 1150 with A320 VH-VQL. Arrival should be at 1208, 38 late.

Also on 12 December 2018, JQ795 (A320 VH-XSJ, the 1140 hours MCY down to MEL, airborne at 1344) is arriving at a suggested 1706 late this afternoon, 121 minutes tardy.

Yesterday this aircraft flew JQ7992 from MEL to NTL, returning this morning as JQ7993 and arriving at 0946, meaning JQ794, the 0940 hours MEL - MCY did not take off until 1147 hours. Were 7992/7993 'ferry' (empty) or training flights, or specials (charters)?

Also on Wednesday 12 December 2018, JQ777, the 1735 hours late afternoon from ADL to MEL that took off at 1818 has A320 VH-VFQ.

Looks like it has had two missed approaches on differing runways. A most unusual flight pattern.

As at 2019, it was southeast of MEL, possibly in a hold. MEl has had very heavy rainfall from the northeat pass through it and significant additional rain is forecast, so I assume that landing is very tricky at present.

UPDATE: JQ777 landed in MEL at 2041 so will be at its terminal at 2046, 81 minutes tardy.

Continuing with 12 December 2018, JQ523 (evening 1845 hours SYD - MEL, A320 VH-VGQ) took off at 1936 hours. It had to hold above Mt beauty (Vic) but arrival is nominally 2109 hours, 49 late. Storms may make this later.

JQ988 (A320 VH-VGZ, the 2005 hours SYD across to PER, was airborne at 2058 hours). Arrival should be at 2224 hours, 49 late.

The 2000 hours MEL - NTL (A320 VH-JQL, JQ478) was in the sky at 2045, so estimated arrival is 2200, half an hour behind schedule.

With Christmas and school holidays, DPS flights will normally be full (apart from the usual percentage of no shows).

There may be a very large number of JQ passengers to suffer cancellations or delays on the DPS routes in the next few weeks given the abysmal reliability at present. The airline cannot blame an erupting volcano.

Yep, my younger brother and 2 kids are heading over towards the end of January and was going to book with JQ but after some convincing I got him to shell out the extra $90pp for GA. Well worth it IMO

On an objective view, it would be difficult to recommend that anyone in a hurry (or with accommodation booked) uses JQ on the DPS route, particularly it seems ex or to MEL. Too many cancellations, plus late flights.

On 13 Dec 2018, JQ569 (A320 VH-JQG the 1640 hours BNE down to MEL, airborne at 18 17) is arriving at a suggested 21 26 late this afternoon, 81 minutes tardy.
Also, JQ479 (A320 VH-XSJ) 18 30 service NTL to MEL departed until 19 19, arrival is expected at 21 03, 53 min late.
Moreover, JQ608 (A320 VH-VQE) the 17 30 hours AVV to SYD, airborne until 18 20, arrival is revised to 20 39, 104 behind schedule.

Dec 14th, 2018 sees:
  • JQ677 DRW-MEL (VH-VFN) the usual suspect, arrived to gate at 8 20, 90 min behind schedule.
  • JQ36 DPS-MEL (VH-VKJ), arrived at 8 58, 68 tardy. This later formed into JQ43 MEL-DPS, the 10 05 service, which landed into DPS at 14 18, 143 min late.
  • JQ18 HKT-MEL (VH-VKF) arrived at 11 38, 78 min behind schedule.
  • VH-VFF (A320) has been playing catch up all day. To begin JQ702 MEL-MCY arrived at 10 52, 92 late. This then affected the return leg JQ793, which arrived to MEL until 16 23, 178 min behind. Also affected JQ739 MEL-LST, the 14 00 hours service, which arrived at 18 18, 193 min behind original arrival time. Lastly, the return leg, JQ744 LST-MEL has recently arrived to Melbourne at 20 36, 236 min late.
  • Similarly, VH-VWQ has been struggling all day. JQ508 MEL-SYD, the 10 30 hours service, landed in SYD until 13 39, 103 late. Then formed as the return leg as JQ508, the 12 35 hours service, which arrived to gate at 17 38, 208 tardy. Also had a flow effect on JQ916 MEL-TVS which is expected to arrive at 20 47, 122 min behind.
  • A pretty bad delay on VH-VWW today. JQ432 MEL-OOL, originally scheduled for 10 00 hours, was airborne until 16 59, arrived at 18 05, 420 min behind schedule. This has evidently put strain on the return leg JQ437, which has a tentative arrival of 22 31, 446 min tardy.
  • VH-VFQ also has struggled today. Initially JQ452 ADL-OOL, arrived at 11 07, 137 min tardy. Then this formed as JQ453 OOL-ADL, arrived at 14 43, 128 behind. Further affected JQ775 ADL-MEL, which arrived at 17 41, 141 late. Lastly, also delayed JQ778 MEL-ADL which arrived at 19 00, 120 behind original schedule.
  • JQ477 NTL-MEL (VH-VQG) was also delayed, arriving to MEL at 19 23, 203 min tardy.
  • JQ2 HNL-MEL (VH-VKL) arrived at 17 16, 71 min behind.
  • VH-VWY has also found it hard to keep on time most of the day. JQ721 SYD-HBA arrived at 13 29, 54 tardy. Then further delayed the return leg JQ720 HBA-SYD which arrived until 16 43, 103 min tardy. This then had a knock on effect on JQ531 SYD-MEL which arrived at 19 56, 141 min tardy.
  • VH-VGF has been on the bad books all day. JQ502 MEL-SYD which arrived at 9 42, 57 min late. Then JQ784 SYD-MCY which arrived at 11 01, 66 behind. The return leg JQ785 was even later, with an arrival of 14 24, 84 tardy. JQ515 SYD-MEL arrived to gate until 16 55, 110 behind schedule. To further add to this, JQ711 MEL-HBA arrived at 19 07, 112 late. Lastly, JQ712 HBA-MEL leg has an expected arrival to gate of 21 05, 120 tardy.
  • VH-XJE is creating delays between MEL and BNE. Firstly JQ564 MEL-BNE arrived at 17 00, 75 min behind. The return leg JQ569 has an expected arrival of 21 15, 70 tardy.
Cancelled
JQ973 PER-MEL 8 15 service
JQ795 MCY-MEL 11 40
JQ714 HBA-MEL 15 00
JQ485 BNE-NTL 15 30
JQ521 SYD-MEL 17 25
JQ565 BNE-MEL 17 55

On Sunday 16 December 2018, JQ604, the 1245 hours AVV - SYD has A320 VH-VFN. It took off at 1340 with arrival suggested as 1454 mid afternoon, 44 minutes tardy.

JQ954 (1145 hours late morning SYD up to CNS, VH-JQX) is worse. It was airborne at 1334 with arrival suggested as 1522, 92 late.

The SGN down to MEL redeye, JQ64 has B788 VH-VKG and took off at the unseemly hour of 0516. Arrival is likely at 1712 hours, 152 minutes late. JQ17, the 1520 hours MEL - HKT should instead depart 190 minutes late at 1830.

JQ72, the scheduled 1145 hours arrival in MEL ex SGN looks to have diverted to DRW early on 16 December, having been at the latter since 0552 this morning local NT time.

The MEL - OOL JQ442 (1705 hours) shoudl depart 70 late. A later flight, JQ448, the 2050 hours has been given the bullet.

The very late night JQ217 (2345 hours MEL - AKL) is forecast to depart two hours late.

In further on Sunday 16 December 2018, JQ722 from HBA to SYD, the 1625 hours that took off at 1700 is arriving at 1906, 56 late. A320 VH-VFF is the aircraft.

JQ439 (VH-VFT, the 1455 hours OOL down to MEL that did not get in the sky until 1632) should arrive at 1940, 85 late.

JQ514, the scheduled 1520 hours MEL - SYD did not achieve liftoff until 1908. A321 VH-VWU should arrive at 2013 hours, 208 late. There is no standout reason for the delay as it had arrived in MEL five minutes early (ex SYD) at 1405 hours on JQ511.

Due to a storm that passed over Sunbury, JQ916, the 1645 hours MEL - TSV that did not take off until 1936 has flown a most unusual path ex MEL, above Maldon (Vic). Arrival should be at about 2124 tonight, 159 minutes late.

VH=VFD on JQ712, the 1745 hours HBA up to MEL was airborne at 1901 and so is arriving at 2002, 57 late. Aircraft is VH-VFD.

JQ777 from ADL to MEL has VH-VGN and should be in at 2008 hours, 43 late.

Due to the late departure of JQ17 on Sunday 16 December, Monday 17 arriving JQ18 (HKT down to MEL) is delayed from 1020 hours to 1310.

The HNL - MEL JQ2 should arrive 32 late at 1637.

JQ475 from NTL to MEL, the 0830 hours did not take off until 0925. Arrival for A320 VH-VQH is at 1051, 41 late.

Continuing with Monday 17 December 2018, JQ564 from MEL up to BNE, the scheduled mid afternoon 1430 hours is badly late, having taken off at 1808 early this evening. A320 VH-XJE's arrival looks to be 1908 hours, 203 minutes tardy.

This plane was only 17 late in arriving BNE at 1302 hours on JQ668 ex AYQ, but it appears to have substituted for a failed aircraft on JQ561, the early morning 0720 hours BNE - MEL that was airborne at 1357, arriving in the southern capital at 1709 rather than 1045 hours, so a not so amazing 384 minutes tardy.

JQ442 (A321 VH-VWZ, the 1705 hours MEL - OOL that took off at 1821) is better (though not impressive) with scheduled arrival of 1810 turning into a predicted 1915 hours arrival.

The SYD down to MEL 1600 hours timetabled departure, JQ531 (VH-VWN) took off at 1731 so arrival is forecast as 1850, a similar 75 late.

In more on 17 December 2018, JQ521 (A321 VH-VWU, the 1725 hours SYD - MEL) is arriving at 1938 hours, 38 minutes late.

The 1830 hours SYD down to AVV JQ609 (A320 VH-VFH) took off at 1912. Its arrival has become an estimated 2036, 31 late.

JQ447 (the 1740 hours OOL - MEL that took off at 1847, VH-JQX) and JQ565 (1755 hours BNE - MEL in the sky at 1851, VH-VQG) are both late, with the first expected to arrive 45 late at 2150 hours and the latter at 2152, 32 late.

JQ473 (VH-VQG) on 15th December was diverted to CBR. Anyone know why?

JQ473 (VH-VQG) on 15th December was diverted to CBR. Anyone know why?

This was a morning flight from NTL down to MEL. I was not in Victoria on Saturday 15 but could it be (given Thursday's atrocious weather that caused flooding north of Wangaratta plus elsewhere, and problems on Friday) due to low cloud affecting MEL airport, or some similar weather problem?

A320 VH-VFF has had a delayed start to its Tuesday 18 December 2018 morning with this 0600 hours SYD down to MEL flight, JQ401, not becoming airborne until 0734 hours. Expected arrival is 0847, 72 minutes behind schedule. This will delay JQ504, the 0810 hours MEL - SYD to a forecast 0920 hours pushback.

Given school holidays and pre Christmas with many families travelling and full flights, this slows alighting and boarding. 0920 may be a tad optimistic as a departure time for 'the 504.'

This aircraft may well run late all day.

The following flight to SYD ex MEL, JQ506 (the 0925 hours) should depart half an hour behind time.

JQ703, the 0830 hours MEL - HBA is predicted to depart an hour late.

The 1005 hours MEL down to HBA (JQ705) and the 1115 hours MEL - LST (JQ737) have been cancelled,
