JQ36 DPS-MEL is badly delayed as JQ35 arrived fairly late into DPS (B788 VH-VKF). The aircraft departed Bali at 3 30 and it has a revised arrival at 11 38, 228 min tardy.

JQ575 BNE-MEL, 6 00 service was cancelled.
JQ473 NTL-MEL, the 6 10 hours service was cancelled.
JQ729 MEL-LTS 6 10 hours service also cancelled. This led to further cancellation of JQ730 LTS-MEL, 7 50 hours.
Surprise, surprise JQ8 SIN-MEL also joins the cancellations list.

In further on Saturday 22 December, JQ202, the 0715 hours AKL across to SYD that took off at 0857 with A320 VH-VFQ is arriving at a suggested 1027 hours, 87 late.

The MCY down to SYD JQ781 has VH-VQL and should arrive at 1030, 40 late. JQ811 (VH-VQF) is worse, with this 0650 hours BNE down to SYD not airborne until 0813 with arrival suggested as 1033, 68 late.

In more on 22 December, JQ846 (1215 hours SYD to HTI, VH-VQJ) was in the sky at 1329 so arrival has become a suggested 1443, 58 minutes tardy.

Late running is continuing into the evening of Saturday 22 December 2018 with JQ710, the 1650 late afternoon HBA up to MEL (A321 VH-VWN) airborne at 1802 hours for a suggested 1912 arrival, 62 late.

The 1735 hours ADL - MEL, JQ777, took off at 1921 so arrival is 2055, 90 late with VH-VFX.

Sunday 23 December 2018's A321 VH-VWZ on JQ713 (1300 hours MEL down to HBA, not airborne until 1437) should arrive at 1540, 85 late. The aircraft had overnighted at OOL but JQ435, the 0845 hours scheduled ex OOL did not take off until 1028 this morning.

JQ708 (1305 hours HBA - MEL, A320 VH-VQA) is also tardy, in the sky at 1456 for a suggested 1603 hours arrival, 98 minutes behind schedule.

UPDATE: Delayed VH-VWZ is arriving in MEL at 1736 on JQ714 ex HBA, 76 late. It is rostered for a return flight to OOL that will also be significantly delayed.

JQ516 (VH-VWX, the 1615 hours MEL - SYD in the sky at 1708) should arrive at 1816, 36 late.

Southbound JQ531 from SYD down to MEL is the 1600 hours that was airborne 89 minutes later. VH-VWW looks to be arriving at 1850, 75 late.

Later on Sunday 23 December 2018, JQ477 from NTL to MEL, the 1420 hours with A320 VH-VQW is arriving at 2011 hours, 251 minutes tardy. This aircraft had run early on a HBA - MEL late this morning, but then departed very late on JQ474 (1210 hours MEL - NTL), not becoming airborne until 1638.

Between 21 December and this evening, 11 of 16 sectors this plane has operated have been at least half an hour late with quite a few an hour, two hours or as above four hours late. Not good.

JQ530 (VH-VWW), the 1815 hours northbound MEL - SYD took off at 1948 with arrival suggested as 2050, 70 minutes late.

The PPP - BNE JQ833 has VH-VFO and is arriving at 1951 hours, 36 late after incurring a hold near Kilcoy.

Christmas Day 2018 sees JQ430 from MEL up to OOL, the 0650 hours having had a bad start to its day with takeoff at 0845 meaning an estimated arrival at 0927, 92 late. A320 VH-VQC is the aircraft.

Very few flights are late today. Weather is benign round much (if not all) of Oz, and today is a day of lower demand (unlike 26 December).

The Christmas Day 2018 JQ664, the 0900 hours MEL - AYQ (A320 VH-VGZ) that departed early then took off on time, if not a little early, at 0910 hours, is returning to MEL. Arrival back in MEL is estimated at 1037. This aircraft should normally arrive in ASP at 1030 NT local time. It got a little north of Underbool, Vic before reversing.

Just a medical diversion, or a problem with the aircraft? One would hope it isn't sozzled passenger(s) over excited from Christmas Eve drinks.

VA812 (1005 hours SYD - BNE, A320 VH-VQW) was in the sky at 1112 with suggested arrival 1224, 49 late.

VH-VQC is of course late returning to MEL ex OOL due to the northbound's tardiness. Southbound JQ435 (0845 hours) took off at 1014 with arrival at 1305 to be an hour late.

Passengers on JQ664 are again on their way, taking off at 1307 hours on a different aircraft, A320 VH-VFJ. Arrival is estimated at 1421 hours, 231 minutes late.

Ex AYQ JQ665 passengers will be lucky to be in MEL by 1830 tonight.

Poor travellers on Christmas day

JQ439, the OOL - MEL afternoon flight due to arrive at 1815 on Christmas Day has been cancelled. SO has JQ522, 1955 hours evening MEL - SYD.

The 2105 hours arrival on the same route, JQ447 is estimated to arrive in MEL 75 late.

JQ504, the 0810 hours MEL - SYD (A320 VH-VGF) was not airborne until 1056 hours. Arrival should be 1203 hours, 148 late. It had arrived in MEL only five late at 0740 on JQ501, the first of the morning at 0600 ex SYD, so something wrong must have been found in MEL.

Thursday 27 December sees JQ515, the 1330 hours afternoon SYD - MEL not airborne until 1432. A320 VH-VFK looks to be arriving at 1548, 43 late.

A320 VH-VFL, the 1445 hours MEL up to MCY (JQ796) was in the sky at 1537 so an arrival at 1640, 35 down is expected.

A321 VH-VWX was creditably only five minutes late arriving in MEL on JQ945 ex CNS but has not remained punctual on its next sector, JQ709, the 1450 hours mid afternoon MEL - HBA. It had not taken off by 1606 hours so will be at least an hour late arriving in the island capital.

JQ418 (A320 VH-VGD, the 1635 hours SYD - OOL) was in the sky at 1736. Arrival should be at 1744, 49 late.

JQ709 is expected to depart at 1900 tonight, 250 minutes late, so this will ripple through other flights VH-VWX was meant to operate.

JQ478 (2000 hours evening MEL - NTL) and JQ518 (2035 hours MEL up to SYD) have been given the bullet. Just so Quickstatus doesn't ask, the 1950 hours NSWTrainLink XPT from Melbourne to Sydney tonight is booked out (and being school holidays and Christmas, it will also be difficult to get a seat on the limited number of flights still yet to depart MEL for SYD tonight).

I hope these stranded passengers aren't told "Sorry Sir/Madam, we can't rebook you until Saturday."

JQ709 became an A320 aircraft (VH-VGH) and took off from MEL at 1935. It should shortly arrive in HBA at around 2030 hours, 265 minutes tardy.

With an A320 having 30 fewer seats compared to a JQ A321, what happens to the remaining 30 passengers should the A321 have been fully booked?

JQ715, the 1900 hours MEL - HBA was in the sky at 1948 with VH-VGZ and should arrive at 2045, half an hour behind schedule.

Continuing with Thursday 27 December 2018, JQ710, the 1650 hours HBA - MEL was in the sky at 2136. Arrival is predicted as 2249 hours, 279 late, worse than on the outbound trip JQ709 ex MEL.

JQ821 (1730 hours BNE down to SYD in the sky at a much delayed 2057, VH-VQG) should be at its destination ramp at 2206 late tonight, 121 minutes behind the timetable.

JQ454 (1955 hours ADL - OOL, VH-VFX) was airborne at 2058 so arrival has altered to 2236 hours, 51 late.

The 2055 hours MEL - SYD JQ524 was airborne at 2137. A320 VH-VGF should arrive at 2250, half an hour late.
