Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

One missed earlier - apologies - on Wednesday 13 is JQ27, the timetabled mid afternoon 1510 hours SYD up to magical HKT that was not in the sky until 1737. B788 VH-VKL is anticipated to arrive at 2230, 140 minutes late. JQ28 will be adversely affected.

On Friday 15 November, JQ820 (A320 VH-VGQ, the scheduled 1840 hours SYD - BNE that took off at 1931) should arrive at 1945, 35 minutes behind schedule.

On Monday 18 November 2019, JQ742, the 1715 hours latish afternoon from LST to MEL (A320 VH-VFO) did not take off until 1810 hours, so predicted arrival is 1911 hours, 512 late.

JQ216, the scheduled 2245 hours late evening arrival in MEL (ex AKL) is a suggested 45 late.

A320 VH-VQK (the 1450 hours 18 November OOL down to MEL) did not become airborne until 1906 hours. Predicted arrival has become 2204 hours, 234 minutes tardy. It must be substituting for an aircraft that has become defective, as it was just 21 late arriving in OOL this evening as JQ416 ex SYD. It's abnormal for a scheduled 1450 hours departure to be formed by a timetabled 1755 hours arrival.

Tuesday 19 November 2019 finds JQ971, the redeye 0100 hours PER - MEL (A321 VH-VWU) not taking off until 0229 hours, so expected arrival is 0842 hours, 67 minutes late.

As in the previous post, this A321 must have taken the place of a colleague that had failed, as it arrived in MEL last night at 2302 hours, only seven minutes late on JQ943 ex CNS, and then formed JQ970, the scheduled 2300 hours MEL across to PER, taking off at 0033 on Tuesday morning and arriving at 0122 hours, 72 minutes behind the schedule.

The A321 looks to be forming JQ506, the 0930 hours MEL - SYD so that may be very slightly delayed in pushback.

In further on 19 November, JQ792 (0805 hours MEL - MCY) took off at 0850 hours with A320 VH-VQF, so suggested arrival is 0955 hours, half an hour late.

Tuesday 19 November 2019...The A321 looks to be forming JQ506, the 0930 hours MEL - SYD so that may be very slightly delayed in pushback.

VH-VWU instead sat in MEL until JQ940, the mid afternoon 1535 hours MEL - CNS.

Maybe it needed maintenance, but this may well be symptomatic of (a) Tuesday (b) non school hols) and most importantly (c) November, traditionally one of the lighter three months per annum for passengers on any long distance transport mode within Australia.

On Wednesday 20 November, JQ413 (A320 VH-VGH, the 1600 hours OOL - SYD) took off at 1737 with arrival suggested as 1949 hours, 79 late.

Later on 20 November 2019, JQ203 (1940 hours SYD - AKL) took off at 2032 hours with A320 VH-VFY. Arriva on Thursday 21 should be at 0120- hours, half an hour behind the timetable.

Presumably returning from HKG maintenance, B788 VH-VKJ is on JQ7992 'ferry' (empty) flight with MEL arrival on Thursday 21 November 2019 an estimated 0730 hours.

JQ473, the 0610 hours early morning NTL - MEL on Thursday 21 November was airborne at 0640, about 15 - 20 late, but arrival is expected at 0820 hours, half an hour late, as the aircraft had to hold above Mt Buller due to some congestion at MEL.

Single runway ops is the case in MEL with midmorning winds gusting at the airport up to 61kmh (33 knots).

However JQ613, the 1040 hours from SYD that departed at 1105 is instead bound, as per its timetable, for nearby AVV. Arrival for A320 VH-VGZ should be 1245 hours, half an hour behind the timetable. Winds at AVV are even worse, gusting to 83kmh (45 knots.)

JQ737 (1050 hours MEL - LST, A321 VH-VWU) was ain the sky an hour later, so arrival should be at about 1253 hours, 58 minutes late.

With winds gusting at up to 87kmh at AVV mid afternoon on Thursday 21 November, JQ631 (A320 VH-VQJ, the 1140 hours OOL - AVV airborne at 1219) had a missed approach at about 1516 hours (timetabled arrival is 1455) but was successful on its second try, so arrival is 1530, 35 late.

JQ515 (1330 hours SYD - MEL) took off at 1423 with A320 VH-JQX. As at 1540 hours, it remained holding above Mt Buller, so nominal arrival is displaying as 1613 hours, 68 late.

Weather in MEL has improved in the early evening of 21 November 2019, but given earlier delays, JQ476, the 1625 hours MEL - NTL did not take off until 1810 so arrival for A320 VH-VFI is suggested at 1928 hours, 93 late.

The 1600 hours LST up to MEL was airborne at 1701 with VH-VQG, so an 1838 hours arrival, also 93 late is predicted due to a hold above Wonthaggi.

Delays are continuing into the mid evening of Thursday 21 November with JQ570, the 2000 hours MEL up to NTL not airborne until 2126. A320 VH-VGH should arrive about 80 minutes late.

Not amusing for passengers, but its opposite number JQ471 (VH-VFI) is arriving MEL at 2143, 98 late ex NTL so eerily similar

.JQ530 (VH-VGR) is the 1855 hours MEL up to SYD in the sky at 2103. Arrival should be 2214 hours, 114 minutes tardy.

JQ668, the 1020 hours AYQ to BNE (A320 VH-VFJ) took off at 1112 hours on Friday 22 November with arrival suggested as 1425 hours, 40 late.

Flights between MEL and NTL are often late, in part possibly as due to lower yields they may be low in the pecking order if things go awry. On Friday 22 November, JQ476 (A320 VH-VQA, the 1625 hours airborne at 1712) should arrive at 1828 hours, 33 minutes behind schedule.

On Friday 22 November, due to SYD being closed earlier due to thunder and lightning (thank you to AFFer jeza) and resultant airport congestion, JQ516 (1630 hours MEL to SYD airborne at 1650, only 5 to 10 minutes late, has diverted to CBR. A321 VH-VWW is arriving CBR at 1835 hours, but timetable says it should arrive in SYD at 1755 hours.

JQ768 (1730 hours SYD to ADL) was in the sky at 1852 with A320 VH-VFV. Arrival should be at 2013, 68 minutes late.

The 1730 hours AVV - SYD (A320 VH-VFK) took off at 1842 so arrival should be 2003 hours, 68 late.
