Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Here's an interesting question for the AFF crowd, I am booked on JQ26 the NRT-CNS (overnight flight so leaves on 18th and arrives early am on 19th in CNS) - what do we think the chances are my bags will get unloaded at CNS? Assuming Jetstar Japan staff aren't on strike and flight leaves as scheduled?

Can we be sure that the Qantas or Jetstar CEOs haven't assembled a group of management strike-breakers, with some trained on how to operate various aircraft and ground equipment like baggage tugs?

Really, eastwest101, I thought by your posts you were a classy traveller. You are the passenger equivalent of what the statisticians call an 'outlier.'

Jetstar wasn't my first choice for travel to Japan, I had advocated for other choices of airlines but have been overruled by Mrs Eastwest, if things really do go pear shaped this time I should be able to persuade her of the merits of better options in the future, and by better I mean anyone else in the world...

Being TSV based and the loss of the CNS-HGK services are a PITA for us.

A320 VH-VGA has formed JQ832, the 0900 hours MEL - PPP that did not take off until 1304 this afternoon (Sunday 16 February.) Arrival should be 1438 hours, 283 minutes behind its schedule.

The 1130 hours SYD up to CNS, JQ954 (A320 VH-VFJ) was in the sky at 1256 so forecast arrival is 67 late at 1442 hours mid afternoon.

JQ50, the Sunday 16 February ICN - OOL redeye did not take off until 2340 hours. Monday 17 should see B788 VH-VKJ arriving at 0945 hours, 75 minutes tardy. This will delay the 1000 hours second leg down to SYD by at least 50 minutes. The OOL site claims that the arrival and departure of JQ50 will be punctual, which is misleading and hopeless for anyone meeting others arriving ex ICN.

And in more on 17 February, JQ507 (0825 hours morning SYD down to MEL, A321 VH-VWQ) was still taxiing as at 0908 hours, so arrival will be at least 35 down at 1035 hours.

A320 VH-VFJ is on JQ953, the 0700 hours CNS - SYD that was in the sky at 0726, about 15 late, but for which arrival is at 1137, 42 late. The aircraft had to hold above Goulburn and make an indirect approach to SYD to land from the north.

JQ913, the 1315 hours TSV - SYD (A320 VH-VFL) was in the sky at 1421 and incurred a holding pattern just west of Pokolbin. Arrival looks to be 1755 hours, 65 minutes late.

Nine Group papers are reporting that JQ has cancelled about 25 per cent of its flights on Wednesday as the TWU strike looms.

Given that baggage handlers won't be at SYD MEL BNE CNS and some other airports, it's surprising the percentage of cancelled flights isn't higher, but I can't access all the article.

On Tuesday 18 February, JQ607 has A320 VH-VQF and is the 1525 hours SYD to AVV airborne at 1632. Looks like a 1750 hours arrival, so 50 minutes behind the 'table.

JQ704 (1600 hours LST short hop up to MEL) was up up and away at 1705. A320 VH-VQE should have a 56 minute late arrival at 1801 hours.

The 1435 hours NTL down to MEL (JQ477, A320 VH-VFQ) was in the sky at 1700 hours with arrival (during or close to a thunderstorm) should be at 1850 hours, 155 minutes behind the timetable.

A sunny Sunday 23 February 2020 in MEL sees the evening 2025 hours to SYD, JQ518, cancelled.

Earlier, JQ513 (1305 hours lunchtime SYd down to MEL) also got the boot.

Later on Sunday 23 February, JQ530 (A320 VH-VGR, the 1855 hours evening MEL - SYD) took off at 2013 so arrival will be after 2120, so at least an hour late.

JQ1 (1635 hours MEL - HNL, B788 VH-VKD) is the 1635 hours MEL - HNL not up up and away until 1940, so same day arrival is estimated as 0836 hours, 156 minutes tardy. This will delay the returning JQ2. When I had checked a couple of hours ago, all JQi flights were showing as punctual. Has there been a software fail meaning boarding passes had to be manually issued, or some other sudden problem?

JQ726, the 1745 hours HBA up to SYD has A320 VH-VQE with departure at 1859 hours. Arrival should be 2043, 73 minutes late.

Easy to remember and an appropriate one for aviation, JQ777 is the 1900 hours ADL - MEL airborne at 1951, VH-VGN. Predicted arrival is 2123, 33 late.

Late on Thursday 27 February, JQ570 (A320 VH-VQL, the scheduled 2055 hours MEL - BNE) took off at 2244 hours so arrival should be 87 late at 2337 AEST.

JQ765 (A320 VH_VFN, the early morning 0625 hours ADL across to SYD on Thursday 28 February) took off at 0722 so arrival looks to be 0943, 53 minutes tardy.

Later on Friday 28 February 2020, JQ661 (A320 VH-VFV, the 1300 hours AYQ across to SYD airborne at 1329 this afternoon, about 15 minutes tardy) should arrive at 1814 hours, 44 late. The aircraft was in a hold for a far while above Crookwell.

The SYD - ADL JQ764 has VH-XJE and should arrive at 1758 hours, 38 minutes late.

Later on Friday 28 February 2020, JQ561 (A320 VH-VFV, the 1300 hours ASP across to SYD airborne at 1329 this afternoon, about 15 minutes tardy) should arrive at 1814 hours, 44 late. The aircraft was in a hold for a far while above Crookwell.
JQ661, AYQ-SYD?

JQ661, AYQ-SYD?

Yes, my apologies! Will correct above.

JQ428 (A321 VH-VWX, the 1655 hours afternoon SYD up to OOL airborne at 1741) is arriving at about 1752 hours, 37 minutes late.

The 1725 hours SYD down to MEL (VH-VWZ) took off at 1802 but then had to hold above Mt Buller, as have many other aircraft. Arrival should be 37 minutes tardy at 1937 hours.

The late evening of Sunday 1 March 2020 has JQ525, the 2030 hours SYD - MEL (A321 VH-VWW that took off at 2131 mid evening) arriving at 2246 hours, 41 late.

The 1850 hours OOL - MEL airborne at 1944 (VH-VWY) is a little behind, arriving at a suggested 2251, also as luck would have it 41 minutes tardy.

JQ4, the scheduled 1545 hours, Tuesday 3 March 2020 arrival in SYD from HNL is showing on the Sydney Airport site as 'cancelled' but this may have been one of the QF group's notified cancellations, rather than just a one-off.

JQ435, the Wednesday 4 March 2020 OOL - MEL due off blocks at 0845 took off at 0946 hours. Arrival for A321 VH-VWQ should be 38 late at 1243 hours.
