Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

But I have to say my Saturday MEL-MCY service left exactly on time. But then they spoilt it with my bag out dead last a couple of minutes after all the others.

On Wednesday 16 March, JQ515, the 1340 hours SYD down to MEL departed 66 minutes behind time at 1446. Arrival was 47 minutes late at 1602 hours showing how the generous 85 minute southbound timetables can allow time to be picked up.

JQ766 (1345 hours SYD to ADL) departed at 1434 with arrival 37 minutes late at 1557 this afternoon.

The 1725 hours SYD to MEL, JQ521, is shown as departing at 1900 hours but it is past that time as I write.

JQ422 (1830 hours SYD to OOL) should depart at 1920, 50 minutes late.

JQ529, the late evening 2145 hours SYD down to MEL is expected to leave at 2225.

JQ814 on Thursday 17 March (1055 hours SYD north to BNE) is expected to depart 40 minutes behind time at 1135.

JQ7301 - not a normal flight number - is shown as the 1100 SYD - MEL, altered to depart two hours late at a suggested 1300 hours early this afternoon.

The 1155 hours BNE south to SYD, JQ815, should depart at an amended time of 1230 with a similarly late arrival of 1505 predicted.

UPDATE: JQ464, the 1015 MEL to BNK (A320 VH-VGA) which must be one of the worst performing JQ flights, if not Australian domestic airline offerings, for punctuality took off at 1201 on Thursday 17 and should arrive at about 1345 this afternoon, an hour and a half late.

The 1150 JQ437 (A321 VH-VWU) was airborne from OOL at 1255 and should arrive MEL at 1557, 47 minutes late.

JQ515 (1340 hours SYD down to MEL) took off at 1440 as A320 VH-VQS and should arrive at about 1558, 43 minutes behind time.

JQ521, the 1740 late afternoon SYD - MEL was airborne at 1834 (A321 VH-VWY.) It will be about 55 minutes late arriving at 2006 this evening.

JQ425 (1920 hours OOL down to SYD) took off at 2021 and hence will arrive about 40 minutes late at 2230 hours (A320 VH-VFF.)

JQ522 (1940 hours MEL - SYD) is expected to depart at 2025.

JQ529 (the 2320 hours arrival in MEL ex SYD) should instead arrive 40 minutes late at 0005 on Friday 18 March.

On Friday 18 March, JQ119 (0855 SYD to recently typhoon hit NAN) should depart half an hour late.

JQ201, the 0940 SYD to AKL is shown as delayed until a 1035 departure but as I write that time has just passed.

JQ765 from ADL to SYD should depart in a few minutes at 1030 in lieu of 1000. As a result, Instead of departing at 1255, JQ764 from SYD to ADL is predicted to so do at 1325 this afternoon.

A321 VH-VWY on JQ510, the 1040 hours MEL to SYD took off at 1148 and should arrive about 50 minutes late at 1255 early this afternoon.

Also on Friday 18 March, JQ523, the 1830 hours SYD to MEL has been cancelled. Earlier, JQ521 (1725 hours SYD - MEL) departed at 1821 with arrival estimated as 1942, 42 minutes behind time.

Some of these problems may be the result of northbound (MEL to SYD) 1615 hours JQ516 delayed in departing until an expected 1930 tonight, with a sugegsted 2055 arrival instead of 1740. JQ522, the 1940 will depart at a predicted 2022 hours. JQ524, the 2045 hours MEL to SYD has been cancelled.

This continues JQ's pathetic timekeeping (if one could call it that) on Australia's busiest air route, although perhaps today the company has the 'excuse' of wind and rain affecting operations.

Notably if we had high speed rail between Sydney and Melbourne it should be able to reliably operate in similar conditions. What a difference in comfort too there would be.

Saturday 19 March's JQ784 from SYD to MCY is forecast to depart at 1005 rather than 0930 while JQ223 (across the Tasman to ZQN) will depart at 1020 rather than 0940 hours.

Earlier, JQ502, the 0730 hours MEL to SYD did not depart until 0812. Arrival should be 40 late at 0935.

JQ731, the 0635 MEL to LST took off at 0855.

JQ508 (0945 hours MEL northbound to SYD) will depart at a predicted 1155, a 130 minute delay.

JQ219 (1020 MEL - ZQN) should instead depart at 1200.

This afternoon, JQ511, the 1200 SYD to MEL is not expected to depart until 1350, so that trip will take more than double the timetabled point-to-point time.'

JQ515 (1340 hours SYD - MEL) will instead depart at a predicted 1415 this afternoon.

On Sunday 20 March, the 0940 hours SYD to ZQN should have according to the QF website have departed at 1020.

UPDATE: The 1810 hours SYD to BNE, JQ818 should depart half an hour late while JQ422, the 1830 hours SYD - OOL should depart at 1920, 50 minutes late.

JQ1, the 1700 hours Sunday 20 March MEL to HNL is delayed in its departure until an expected 2100 hours this evening. Inevitably JQ2 back ex HNL on the same day will be significantly tardy.

The 1910 hours BNE north to TSV, JQ906, is anticipated to depart at 2010.

Monday 21 March saw JQ944, the 0610 hours MEL to CNS not depart until 0654. Arrival is forecast as 35 minutes late at 0905 AEST.

JQ507 (0825 SYD down to MEL) departed at 0900 and should similarly arrive at 1035, 35 minutes late.

While JQ508 is delayed by an anticipated 22 minutes to 1007 in departing from MEL for SYD this morning, unusually QF's website predicts that it will be half an hour late arriving at 1140, thus making a prediction of the flight losing time enroute (including taxiing at each end.)

JQ733 (1010 MEL to LST) is expected to depart at 1050 while early this afternoon JQ574 is forecast to depart from MEL at 1400 rather than its scheduled 1320 for sunny BNE.

The 1130 SYD to MCY, JQ786 should instead depart at 1210. JQ474 (1205 MEL to NTL) has been altered to depart at 1240.

The 1320 hours MEL to BNE, JQ574,was initially altered to depart at 1415 but subequently has been changed to 1520 hours ex MEL.

On Monday 21 March's evening, JQ522, the 1940 hours MEL to SYD has been delayed in departing until a projected 2025, but ended up not departing until 2031 with SYD arrival suggested as 2156 tonight, 51 minutes late.

Continuing JQ's poor lack of timeliness between MEL and SYD, northbound JQ524 is forecast to leave at 2115 hours, half an hour late for a SYD arrival of 2240 hours not long before curfew commences at 2300.

Meanwhile the 1905 to LST ex MEL, JQ741, should depart half an hour late, as should JQ524, the 2045 hours mid evening MEL to SYD.

The 0940 hours Tuesday 22 March JQ201 (SYD to AKL) is expected to be delayed from 0940 hours to 1020 hours.

JQ812 (0950 hours SYD north to BNE) will instead depart at 1025.

On Tuesday 22 March, JQ956 from SYD to CNS, the 1625 hours departure is delayed until an expected 1815.

Earlier on the same route, JQ954 departed from SYD at 1245, 70 minutes late with arrival at 1429 instead of 1340 - 49 minutes behind.

The 1630 hours MEL - AKL, JQ213 departed at 1702 hours but arrival should be at 2245, 40 minutes behind the timetable.

While JQ1 from MEL to HNL departed 48 minutes late at 1748 late this afternoon, this was not nearly as bad as recently when it was four hours late over and JQ2 (return flight) was more than three hours behind time. Arrival on 22 March in 'Aloha' territory is predicted as 0700, 55 minutes late, presumably delaying JQ2's pushback.

JQ213, the afternoon Wednesday 23 March 1630 hours MEL to AKL departed 53 minutes behind time at 1723 with arrival likely at 2255, 50 minutes late.

On Thursday 24 March, JQ507, the 0825 SYD down to MEL has been altered to depart at 0857 with arrival suggested as 1032, also 32 minutes behind schedule.

JQ43, the 0955 MEL to DPS departed 69 minutes late at 1104, with arrival suggested as 1330 hours, 35 minutes late. This flight has been cancelled more than once in recent weeks, probably because at times JQ was down one longer haul aircraft.

The 1000 ADL to SYD, JQ765, departed 43 minutes late but arrived only 23 minutes late at 1248.

JQ432, the 1000 MEL to OOL did not depart until 1039, arriving half an hour late at 1135. JQ733 from MEL to LST left half an hour late at 1040 but managed to trim the deficit a bit, arriving at 1141, 26 minutes late.

A sadly frequently delayed flight and one that JQ appears to regard as a low priority to keep as close to time as possible if there is a choice as to 'which one goes first', JQ464, the 1015 hours mid morning from MEL to the holiday destination of BNK has been delayed in departing by an expected half an hour until 1045.

JQ707, the 1030 MEL to HBA left at 1128, arriving 55 minutes late at 1240 hours. JQ510 (1040 MEL to SYD) departed 44 minutes late at 1124, with arrival at 1241 being 36 minutes late.

JQ219 from MEL across the Tasman to ZQN departed 51 minutes late at the most memorable and perhaps sad time of time day for Australians and New Zealanders, 1111, with arrival predicted as 1550, only 20 minutes late. Perhaps that's the fighting spirit of the ANZACs!

JQ513, the 1245 SYD down to MEL should depart 40 minutes late at 1325 while JQ764 from SYD to ADL, the 1255, is delayed until an expected 1325 hours.

The 1325 ADL to SYD, JQ767, is delayed in leaving for half an hour.

QF1549, the 1410 hours BNE down to CBR and QF2466 the 1415 BNE to the mining town of MOV are both cancelled while the later afternoon QF1712 (1435 hours, BNE to GLT) is delayed in departing for an expected 150 minutes until 1705 hours. The BNE - MOV route in particular is experiencing a high number of QF cancellations: the mining industry downturn could be the cause but another AFFer asserted that QF's strategy was to cancel flights at the last minute to stop potential passengers booking with rival VA which also operates on this smallish intrastate route.

The mid-afternoon 1500 hours departure from SYD to CNS, JQ926 is also forecast to leave half an hour late.

JQ220, the Thursday 24 March scheduled arrival in MEL ex ZQN should instead pull up at the gate at about 1645 hours.

JQ29, the 1425 MEL to BKK is expected to take off at 1600 hours, about 70 minutes late.

On Thursday 24 March the evening 2000 hours MEL to NTL, JQ478, took off at 2110 and should arrive at about 2235 tonight, 65 minutes behind time (A320 VH-VFP.)

JQ715 (1945 hours MEL down to HBA) was airborne at 2048 and should be 50 minutes late arriving at 2150 hours (A321 VH-VWW.)

JQ29, the 1425 hours MEL to BKK took off at 1723 and should arrive at 2205, two hours and 25 minutes late. Aircraft is B788 VH-VKK. As the return flight JQ30 is timetabled to push back at 2210, it cannot help be at least an hour late departing BKK Friday 25 early morning Australian east coast time.

On Good Friday (25 March 2016), JQ741, the 1905 hours departure has been delayed until at least 2020 ex MEL for LST.

The Easter Saturday arriving JQ4 (26 March 2016) from HNL into SYD will not do so until an expected 1720,125 minutes late. This is because although Good Friday's JQ3 ex SYD arrived HNL 18 minutes early at 0607, the departure of JQ4 was initially delayed on Friday HNL time to an expected 0945 (0645 AEDT Saturday 26 March), 90 minutes late, but this turned into an actual departure at 1027.

JQ766, the 1345 SYD to ADL is expected to instead depart at 1440 this afternoon. This flight has a poor punctuality record.

JQ203, the 1145 SYD to AKL is expected to depart at the unusual time of 1514 this afternoon, a minute shy of three and a half hours late. Arrival is suggested as 2019 instead of 1650 hours. There was no obvious inbound flight from NZ that is late, so the plane may be coming off a domestic flight or be ex a hangar.

UPDATE: JQ704 from HBA to MEL is expected to depart 40 minutes late at 1815.

On 27 March (Easter Sunday) JQ25 from SYD to CNS, the 0900, took off at 0947 ((B788 VH-VKE) and should arrive at about 1135, 40 minutes late. After this 'tag flight' it then proceeds on to NRT, departing CNS at a scheduled time of 1245 so it may manage to be on time out of there with some snappy footwork.

JQ43 (1015 MEL - DPS) has been delayed in its departure from 1015 for an expected hour.

JQ28, the 1040 arrival in SYD from HKT is about 65 minutes late and should arrive at roughly 1145. B788 VH-VKT is the aircraft.

UPDATE: JQ725, the 1735 hours late afternoon SYD - HBA is instead expected to depart at 1810. JQ818, the 1840 hours SYD - BNE should be half an hour behind when it departs.
