Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

On Saturday 26 November, JQ8 from SIN to MEL should arrive at about 1010 hours in lieu of 0620 hours.

JQ7, the 1200 'high noon' departure from MEL to SIN is estimated to instead depart at 1530 or so this afternoon.

The 0915 hours MEL - SYD (JQ506) has been cancelled.

JQ735, the 1005 hours from MEL down to LST is predicted not to depart until 1040.

JQ23, the redeye 0050 hours Saturday 26 from MEL to NRT (B788 VH-VKE) did not take off until 0558, meaning its passengers would be extremely tired from sitting in the departure gate lounge at MEL at 0300 and 0400. Arrival is predicted as 1329 instead of 0845 hours.

Also on Saturday 26 November, JQ981, the 0100 hours redeye from PER that took off at a terrible time - 0242 hours - is arriving in MEL at 0916 instead of 0735 with A320 VH-VGD.

Thew 0610 hours BNE - MEL, JQ575, took off at 0801, with arrival expected at 1119 instead of 0935. A320 VH-VQK is the aircraft.

BNE (airport not city) had an incredible amount of 88 millimetres of rain between 0615 to 0830 on Saturday 26 November so that must be why so many flights have departed badly late.

JQ813, the 0720 hours from BNE down to SYD was airborne at 0853. With A320 VH-JQX as the aircraft, arrival is forecast for 1115, 80 minutes tardy.

Sunday 27 November sees JQ8 (B788 VH-VKD), the scheduled 0620 hours early morning arrival in MEL ex SIN not likely to pull in to its allocated gate until about 0846, 146 minutes behind schedule.

JQ432 (1000 MEL - OOL) has got the bullet, as has the later, mid afternoon JQ440, the timetabled 1555 hours departure. One would doubt that this has much to do with the Dreamworld travails on the Gold Coast given that many families book holidays including air travel a few weeks in advance, with the severe problems with this amusement park only having occurred quite recently.

Later on Sunday 27 November, JQ1 (1635 hours from MEL for the longish trip to HNL) with B788 VH-VKJ was airborne at 1755. Arrival is predicted same day as 0719 hours, 79 minutes late. As JQ2 is the 0805 hours departure from HNL back to MEL, a quick guess has it departing instead at around the 0835 hours mark.

JQ521 (1725 hours SYD - MEL) did not take off until 1828 hours, so A321 VH-VWW is not likely to arrive until 1943, 43 minutes tardy.

The 1730 NTL - MEL, JQ479, was airborne at 1841 (A320 VH-VQS) so arrival is predicted for 56 minutes tardy at 2006 this evening.

JQ768 (SYD across to ADL, timetabled departure of 1725 hours) was airborne at 1832 so arrival at 1947, 47 minutes delayed is on the cards for A320 VH-JQL. Returning JQ769, the 1940 ex ADL was in the sky at 2032 hours this evening; arrival should be at 2249, 44 minutes later than the timetable mandates.

The 0615 hours MEL - ZQN on Monday 28 November (A320 VH-VGA) did not take off until 0734, so it should arrive in the skiers' paradise at around 1239 instead of 1125.

UPDATE: Later, JQ465, the 1230 BNK down to MEL took off at 1310 hours with A320 VH-VGO. A 1510 hours arrival is on the cards, half an hour late

JQ574 (1315 hours from MEL up to BNE, A320 VH-VGN that was in the sky at 1414) should arrive at 1525, 55 minuts behind schedule.

Also on 28 November, JQ43 (0955 hours MEL - DPS, B788 VH-VKA) did not take off until 1312, so arrival will not be until at least 1541, 166 minutes behjind schedule. JQ44 will be well past 0100 on Tuesday 29 November in arriving back in MEL.

JQ916 (1700 hours MEL up to recession-hit TSV, A320 VH-VGZ) took off at 1739, so arrival should be 32 late at 1932 this evening.

Passengers on the 0820 PER - MEL, JQ973 may be irriated as this flight was not airborne until 1141. Arrival of A320 VH-VQM should be at about 1813, an appalling 198 minutes late, meaning that in local time at least, passengers have spent the whole day travelling or waiting at PER.

Continuing JQ's traditional shocking timekeeping on the SYD - MEL route, JQ521, the 1725 hours took off at 1824 on Monday 28 November. With VH-VWW as the A321, it is suggested as arriving at 1954 hours, 54 late.

JQ521, the Tuesday 29 November 1725 hours SYD - MEL was in the sky at 1833. Arrival for A321 VH-VWY should be at 2002, 62 late.

A321 VH-VWZ on JQ710 (1655 hours late afternoon from HBA up to MEL) took off at 1744; arrival should be at around 1900 hours, 45 minutes behind the eight ball.

On November's last day in 2016, JQ560, the 0730 hours MEL - BNE will be cancelled.

In contrast, on Tuesday 29 November, JQ522, the evening 1940 hours MEL - SYD (A321 VH-VWY) took off at a late 20455. Arrival is predicted as 2204 tonight, 59 minutes behind schedule.

An exemption from curfew application may have been made to the mysterious Federal public servant who is 'the delegate' as on Tuesday 29 November, JQ427, the 1940 hours OOL - SYD did not take off until 2053 AEST (2153 AEDT.) Touchdown (the important time, not a flight's arrival at the SYD airport gate lounge) is expected at 2313. Aircraft is A321 VH-VWU.

On Wednesday 30 November 2016, JQ30 (B788 VH-VKD), the 2125 hours Tuesday 29 BKK - MEL that was airborne at 2256 should arrive at around 1126, 56 minutes tardy. It looks to be forming JQ7 from MEL to SIN, the 'high noon' flight that lacks good punctuality: expect it to depart at around the 1230 mark if all goes well.

JQ430, the 0640 hours MEL - OOL is predicted to depart about an hour late. JQ735 (1005 hours MEL - LST) is cancelled.

The normally 1605 hours arriving in MEL JQ2 ex HNL on Wednesday 30 November has also been cancelled.

JQ575, the 0610 hours early morning from BNE down to MEL took off at 0719; arrival of A320 VH-VQK should be at about 1033, 58 minutes tardy.

In further on Wednesday 30 November, JQ25, the 0825 hours MEL to CNS and NRT departed at about 1730, a nine hour delay. Imagine having to twiddle one's thumbs for that ;ength of time, assuming that the flight had not been retimed before local MEL residents or hotel-ensconsed visitors left for the airport.

JQ411, the 1200 OOL - SYD on Thursday 1 December 2016 took off at 1236 with A320 VH-VQJ. Arrival is forecast as half an hour behind schedule at 1500 mid this afternoon.

In further on Thursday 1 December, JQ948, the 1630 hours MEL - CNS (A320 VH-VFK) took off at 1627; arrival should be at 1941 hours, 51 minutes late.

Also on 1 December 2016, JQ57, the 1740 hours BNE - DPS that took off at 1821 should arrive at approximately 222 hours, 37 minutes late. Aircraft is VH-VKE, a B788.

JQ43 has had a far more serious delay with this 0955 hours flight not becoming airborne until 2148 tonight, almost 12 hours late. VH-VKH should arrive at 2345 hours rather than 1255. At least the returning JQ44 passengers have only had to fill in half a day, rather than half a night, but many will have been unable or unwilling to (pay for) a late check out at their hotel or villa. Logic tells us that a JQ plane may have failed earlier today.

The evening 2015 hours SYD - PER, JQ988, took off at 2105 with A320 VH-VQU. Arrival is predicted for 2252 instead of 2215 hours.

JQ797 (1645 MCY down to MEL) is also badly late with the plane in the sky at 1956 earlier tonight; arrival of A320 VH-VQH should be at 2316 hours, 186 late.

The 1920 hours CNS - MEL (JQ947) took off at 2002 with VH-VFK (A320) and so should pull in at roughly 0014 on Friday 2 December, 34 minutes late.

JQ823 (1940 hours BNE - SYD, A320 VH-VGV) took off at 2045 so is set to arrive at 2259, 44 minutes delayed.

The 1955 hours BNE - MEL (A320 VH-VOE, JQ567) was airborne at 2038. Forecast arrival is 2353 instead of the timetabled 2320 hours.

Continuing with late flights, JQ448 (1930 hours MEL - OOL, A320 VH-VQZ) was not airborne until 2105 and hence should arrive at 2155, 80 minutes behind schedule.

Medium length sector (though a long one by doemstic standards) JQ982 (2000 hours from OOL across to PER) was in the sky at 2124; arrival of A320 VH-VFF should be at 0039, 59 minutes behind time.

On Friday 2 December, A320 VH-VQJ, the 0755 hours SYD - AVV was still only taxiing at 0841 so it will be at least 25 minutes late into the minor 'Melbourne' airport that is closer to Geelong's CBD.

In further on Friday 2 December, JQ772, the 1220 hours MEL - ADL was airborne at 1317, meaning likely arrival at 1359 hours, 49 minutes late.

JQ606 (1545 hours from AVV up to SYD) was in the sky at 1654, meaning a suggested arrival at 1809, 59 minutes late. Aircraft is VH-VQJ.

The 1405 hours early to mid afternoon JQ849, VH-VQP from HTI down to SYD took off at 1455; arrival should be 35 minutes behind schedule at 1805 early this evening.

Continuing with Friday 2 December, JQ888 - 1435 hours from BNE up to MKY - with aircraft A320 VH-JQG took off at 1556, so arrival has been delayed until a suggested 1709 hours, 64 minutes tardy.

JQ17, the Friday 2 December mid afternoon 525 hours MEL - HKT has been delayed until a shocking new time of 0200 on Saturday 3. Once again (as noted above) this may be because JQ is a B788 'short' with one presumably having become faulty in the last couple of days. JQ18 returning has been altered from an HKT departure of 2145 hours tonight to a suggested 0810 hours tomorrow: a bit early to be definitive yet.

Maintaining JQ's less than great timekeeping on the nation's busiest by far air route, JQ519, the 1810 hours SYD down to MEL on Friday 2 December took off at 1912 for a projected 45 minute late, 2030 hours arrival. Aircraft is A320 VH-VQP.

Some distance behind is JQ523, the 1840 hours scheduled departure that was airborne at 1955 hours for a suggested arrival at 2108 tonight, 53 minutes behind time.

The 1645 hours from MCY down to MEL, JQ797 (A320 VH-VGT) was airborne at 1757, with arrival likely at 2121, 71 late.

JQ712, the 1845 hours HBA up to MEL was in the sky at 1959; arrival of A320 VH-VFU should be at around 2102, 57 minutes tardy.

The 1845 hours MCY - SYD (JQ791) was in the sky at 2014; arrival should be at 2242, 82 minutes late. VH-VFI is the A320.

JQ770 (2015 hours from SYD across to ADL) took off at 2131, so arrival has been delayed until about 2305 (allowing five minutes for taxiing, the landing time of 2300 is right on curfew), 65 late with A320 VH-VGY the taskmaster.

JQ17, the Friday 2 December mid afternoon 525 hours MEL - HKT has been delayed until a shocking new time of 0200 on Saturday 3. Once again (as noted above) this may be because JQ is a B788 'short' with one presumably having become faulty in the last couple of days. JQi's MEL schedules are in near chaos.

The Friday 2 December JQ30, 1030 hours arrival in MEL (ex BKK) will instead pull in at about 0430 hours on Saturday 3 December.

The normal 0620 hours arrival of JQ8 in MEL on Saturday 3 December (ex SIN the previous night) will not occur as it has been cancelled.

JQ8Z, a delayed JQ8, is predicted to arrive in MEL at 1920 on Saturday 3 December instead of 0620 hours in the morning, an 11 hour delay. Meanwhile JQ18, the 1020 hours MEL arrival ex HKT is predicted to instead arrive at 2045 hours on Saturday evening.

For JQi Saturday 3 December departures, JQ7, the 1200 'high noon' from MEL to SIN sees 'noon' replaced with 'non' as that is the answer if someone asked 'is it operating?'

JQ23, the 0050 hours ('small hours') Saturday 3 December departure from MEL to NRT becomes a projected 1030 off its blocks.

The 0955 hours MEL to DPS (JQ43) has been altered to become a 1245 forecasted pushback.

JQ44, the scheduled late night Saturday 3 December 2255 hours arrival in MEL ex DPS will not arrive until a suggested 0125 hours on Sunday 4 December.

I suggest that all this chaos is because JQ's schedules are so tight that when one aircraft fails (i.e. unexpectedly - nothing to do with scheduled maintenance, but 'repairs'), it cannot cope.
