Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

The distance by road is approx 450km, if I'm not mistaken. It might also be difficult to organise given it's the holidays period.

Awesom Andy, thanks. One of AFF's esteemed contributors explained that around ASP at the time there was turbulence and storms, so that - not the road condition- was apparently the deciding factor with these aircraft turning back to SYD.

I have been between Alice Springs and Ayers Rock by road and yes, it is about a four hour drive.

In further on Boxing Day, JQ143 (1935 hours evening flight from SYD to CHC) is delayed until an expected 2010 in departing.

The 2025 hours from SYD up to BNE (JQ824) has been cancelled.

JQ756, the 1625 hours from HBA up to SYD took off at 1701; arrival should be at 1641, 31 late. Vh-VGA is the A320.

Tuesday 27 December 2016 sees JQ213, the 0910 hours MEL - AKL delayed until an expected departure at 1000.

Later, JQ736 (1310 hours early afternoon from LST up to MEL) took off at 1412. A320 VH-VFX should arrive at 1508, 53 minutes behind schedule. QF438 from MEL to OOL looks to be delayed an estimated 35 minutes to 1535 in its departure, but given an arrival at about 1508, 1545 might be a better guess.

With the heavy rain and flash flooding in parts of Melbourne mid afternoon (from around 1500 hours) on Thursday 29 December, it looks like MEL may have been closed for a while.

In an hour and 19 minutes between 1459n and 1618 hours, MEL (airport) had 42.6 millimetres of rain: tropical conditions like Jakarta or Manila!

JQ515, the 1350 hours from SYD down to MEL (A320 VH-JQL) took off on time at 1408 but is arriving at about 1618, 53 minutes late after being held in the usual location above Mt Buller, Victoria.

As at 1602 AEDT, JQ517, the following 1405 hours that was airborne at 1505 remained in a similar holding pattern with arrival suggested as 1626, 46 minutes tardy.

UPDATE: JQ796, the 1455 hours MEL - MCY was airborne at 1618 hours; it should arrive 64 minutes late at 1719. Aircraft is A320 VH-VQQ.

The 1340 hours ADL to MEL (JQ775) took off at 1402, not very late, but was held over Condah and then over Cressy, both in southwest Victoria, with arrival suggested as 1643 hours, 73 minutes tardy. This aircraft is A320 VH-VQE.

Continuing with Thursday 29 December 2016, JQ611, the 2200 hours from SYD to AVV (A320 VH-VQR) was airborne at 2239. It is predicted to be at its home for the night at 0010 on Friday 30, 35 minutes tardy.

JQ527 (2050 hours SYd down to MEL, A321 VH-VWN) was in the sky at 2218, so arrival in the southern capital is expected at about 2338 hours, 73 minutes behind schedule.

The 1425 hours mid afternoon JQ44 from DPS to MEL took off at a late 1623 hours with B788 Vh-VKI. It should pull in at 0018 on Friday 30 December, 83 minutes past its 2255 hours scheduled arrival.

On Friday 30 December, JQ7, the 1200 'high noon' from MEL to SIN has been cancelled. This is one of JQ's more unpunctual flights at the best of times.

JQ473, the early morning 0610 hours from NTL down to MEL (A320 VH-VFT) had a delayed start with takeoff not until 0702. It should arrive at 0833, 43 minutes late.

The first of the morning from SYD down to MEL, JQ501 fared even more badly with this 0605 hours timetabled departure becoming an 0719 takeoff. Accordingly, arrival should be at about 0837 hours, 62 minutes delayed.

The next flight, JQ503 (A320 VH-VGQ) is the 0700 hours departure that was airborne at 0746; arrival should be 32 minutes late at 0907.

JQ771 from ADL across to MEL is VH-VQE - the 0610 hours departure that pushed back at 0708. A 39 minute late arrival in MEL at 0839 should be the result.

JQ18 from HKT to MEL should be on blocks at about 1145, 80 minutes delayed with B788 VH-VKL.

Continuing with Friday 30 December, JQ474 (the 1205 hours MEL - NTL) was not airborne until 1326. A320 VH-VFT (which was also late out of NTL this morning) should arrive at 1440, 65 minutes behind schedule. This morning it was about 45 minutes late arriving in MEL so it has failed to make up any of this lost time.

The 1600 hours OOl - SYD, JQ419 took off at 1728 - A320 VH-JQG. It should be at its designated airport arrival gate at 1945 hours, 75 minutes late.

JQ566 (A320 VH-VQP, the 1800 hours MEL - BNE that was airborne at 1909 on 30 December) should arrive at around 2008 tonight, 53 minutes behind schedule.

On Saturday 31 December, JQ15, the 0810 hours MEL - CNS - KIX has been cancelled.

Monday 2 January sees JQ164, the 0700 hours from WLG to MEL that took off at 0732 (A320 Vh-VQS) arriving at around 0934, 39 minutes late. This aircraft may then be forming a domestic flight rather than another international one.

The 1040 hours MEL - SYD, JQ510 is expected to depart about an hour late while the 1205 hours MEL - NTL, JQ474 should be about 45 minutes behind schedule in departing.

One of the BOM's radars around BNE was inoperable a little while ago but there must have been a very significant storm in BNE this evening around 2000 hours. JQ906, the 2010 hours BNE - TSV (A320 VH-XSJ) took off at 2109 with its expected 2257 hours arrival being 52 minutes behind schedule.

Tuesday 3 January 2017 sees JQ983, the 0005 hours from PER to OOL that took off at 0052 arriving at about 0714, 39 minutes tardy with A320 VH-VQH.

The redeye from BKK to MEL, JQ30 is badly delayed with B788 VH-VKJ forecast to pull in at 1319 instead of 1050, a 149 minute deficit. This aircraft then looks to be forming JQ1, the 1635 hours from MEL up to HNL so the latter should be unaffected, all being well.

JQ785 from SYD to MCY is predicted to depart at 1220 this afternoon rather than 1130 this morning.
