Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Thursday 5 January has JQ84 (0615 hours DRW - AL that took off at 0724, A320 VH-VQR) likely to arrive at 1150, 55 minutes late. Earlier, JQ82 had lost time between DPS and DRW.

Later on 5 January 2017, JQ713, the 1900 hours early evening from MEL down to HBA has been delayed in its likely departure to 2105 hours.

JQ522 and JQ776 are identically timed 1940 hours departures to SYD and ADL respectively. The first is projected to instead depart at 2035;; the second at 2025.

On Friday 6 January, JQ766 (1500 hours SYD - ADL, A320 VH-VQJ) was in the sky at 1552. Arrival is predicted for 1712, 37 minutes behind schedule.

Saturday 7 January has JQ953, the 0705 CNS - SYD (A320 VH-VFN) that was airborne at 0847 arriving at about 1232 hours, 92 minutes late.

On Sunday 8 January 2017, the 1635 hours from MEL to HNL, JQ1 should instead depart at 2030. This will in turn result in a significant delay to JQ2 back from HNL.

Any idea as to whats happening with the heavily delayed JQ 17 to coughet that is now delayed nearly 12 hours to an unearthly time of 2.35am tomorrow ??

pyffii, B788 VH-VKC was one for which I could not find its current flight. It may have been inactive on Sunday 8 January 2017.

VH-VKI came in from DPS (to MEL) this morning and appears not to have operated any further sectors today.

There is a good chance based on allocated gate numbers that your flight is being formed by the scheduled 2255 hours arrival of JQ44 ex DPS, Bali, Indonesia (B788 VH-VKA) but as always this can change.

I wouldn't like to be definitive but perhaps the problem is with one of the above two registration numbers (VKC or VKI): one may have unexpectedly failed.

I'm not sure why if your flight is formed by a 2255 hours arrival you have to wait until 0235 hours for an anticipated departure. Crewing problems? Normally one might expect an hour and 10 minutes turnaround so let's be generous and allow two hours: that would have allowed about an 0055 hours departure.

The good news is you may see sunrise from on board (if the window blinds are raised.) Other than that many of us certainly do not envy you, your family or friends having to wait till such an hour when most of us apart from shift workers are normally in the land of nod.

JQ23, the 0050 hours just after midnight Monday 9 January MEL - NRT has been cancelled as well, so not a good day/night for Jetstar, although in the case of the Japanese flight QF79, the 0915 hours Monday departure ex MEL for NRT and its return tomorrow night ex NRT QF80 may be able to provide relief.

UPDATE: JQ1 from MEL to HNL on Sunday 8 is now allegedly to depart at 2100 not 2030 as advised above, so that will be almost four and a half hours late.

Our son and family are on JQ18 and surprisingly emails were sent to all 4 family members that indicated a set paid allowance for accomodation and food...so maybe just maybe Jetstar might be improving on their customer service...hmm

My distant memory - fallible - suggests that some years ago JQ had quite a bit of negative media coverage from not providing an hotel overnight when such long delays occurred.

Whether it is 'standard operating practice' is unclear to me.

What was the allowance per person or couple?

Email suggests $150 pp for hotel accomodation plus $30 pp for food..not sure if it's a fixed amount or an "up to" allowance pp...in any event Jetstar are being seen as being proactive

If that is for one night, for a couple in the one room that's pretty generous.

Receiving the email and actually getting the money are very different things. Some years ago, a group of pax (including myself) was left without a connection, and nobody could agree on the actual amounts we could get.

On Monday 9 January 2017, altered flight JQ1029 has been delayed from a 1435 hours departure to a Tuesday 10 January 2017 one at an estimated 0600.

JQ43, the 0955 hours MEL - DPS and presumably its JQ44 return on 10 January have been cancelled.

Tuesday 10 January 2017 sees JQ43, the 0955 hours MEL - DPS cancelled but having metamorphosed into JQ1035 with what looks like a preplanned stop in PER included in its itinerary. It did not depart MEL until 1210 hours.

The return flight JQ1036 will supposedly arrive in MEL on Wednesday 11 January at 0525 hours instead of 0355, with JQ44 also cancelled.

JQ43 on Wednesday 11 ex MEL for DPS is delayed from 0955 hours to a predicted 1735, a delay longer than the normal duration of this flight.

JQ107, the Tuesday 10 January 1850 hours early evening from DPS to PER (A320 VH-VGV) did not take off until 0150 hours. Wednesday 11 January arrival should be at 0512 instead of last night's scheduled 2200. A tiring trip for passengers.

Wednesday 11's JQ23, the 0050 hours from MEL up to NRT was not in the sky until 0357, so arrival of B788 VH-VKA is unlikely until 1132, 167 minutes late.

JQ30, the redeye from BKK to MEL (B788 VH-VKG) should arrive at about 1253, 143 minutes late on Wednesday 11.

JQ7036, the amended 0355 hours MEL arrival ex DPS with an unusual preplanned intermediate PER stop has been cancelled.

JQ43, the 0955 hours MEL - DPS remains predicted to instead depart at 1735 late this afternoon, almost eight hours late, affecting JQ44 passengers waiting in DPS to return to the southern capital.

Due to yesterday's late departure, arrival of JQ44 in MEL (ex DPS) on Thursday 12 January should be at around 0937 hours instead of 2255 hours on Wednesday night. The much delayed aircraft is B788 VH-VKG.

Melbourne Airport's JQ departures have not all been updated - there may be a fault with the feed - so it is unclear if today's HJQ43 from MEL back up to DPS will depart late.

Why the deviation to PER I wonder?

JQ2 HNL - MEL will depart in 5 minutes at 1140HST and arrived in MEL at 1940 160mins late. This flight turns around as JQ35 MEL - DPS scheduled to depart at 1845. I have just received a text from JQ that JQ35 will now depart at 2110 which is 145mins late.

JQ2 is still on the ground in HNL. We could be in for a very long wait in MEL tonight, coming in from NTL on JQ477 at about 1600. Melbournian are you able to confirm which aircraft is allocated to JQ35? I am only making assumptions at this point and would love to be wrong JQ2 turning around as JQ35
