Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

JQ2 is still on the ground in HNL. We could be in for a very long wait in MEL tonight, coming in from NTL on JQ477 at about 1600. Melbournian are you able to confirm which aircraft is allocated to JQ35?

feezable, great posts.

Based on the gate numbers showing, it appears that JQ2 ex HNL to MEL is indeed at this stage forming your JQ35 to DPS tonight.

This aircraft is B788 VH-VKI that appears as at 1228 Wednesday 11 January HNL time is still there. Its departure was again altered to an expected 1210 hours, even later than feezable posted above, so this means it will not be in MEL until at least 2030 tonight even if it pushes back as I write.

This means if JQ35 operates, it could not depart MEL until at least 2140, which is later than the message received from JQ by feezable.

However anything can change.

Unfortunately one possible 'change' is that JQ35 could end up being cancelled, but obviously with the huge Tigerair problems between DPS and Oz (TT's flight's have been suspended thanks to TT allegedly breaching its conditions of approval from the Indonesian government), seats in and out of Bali must be in super high demand which of course means JQ (if it has any spare seats) can in theory bump up the fare to an extremely high level.

B788 VH-VKD does not appear to have operated any flights since arriving in MEL yesterday (Wednesday 11 January) from SYD as JQ8995 at about 1030 hours.

VH-VKH is on JQ38 from DPS to SYD that is about three and a half hours late on Thursday 12 and likely to arrive at around 1030 hours.

Keep a watch on it as will I if in a position to. This is the second time in the last few weeks that JQ has had a B788 stuck overseas. The last time meant ramifications (adverse!) for a few days. Fingers crossed: say a prayer to St Jude!

The Melbourne Airport website claims JQ2 will arrive tonight (12 January) at 1940, allowing a 2110 hours departure for JQ35 to DPS. However Google suggests that JQ2 will land at 2101 hours, which appears to be more accurate.

It looks like JQ35 won't be ready for blocks off until at least 2210 hours tonight compared with its scheduled 1845 hours departure.

VH-VKI on JQ2 looks to be arriving at 2045 hours in MEL (ex HNL.) The Melbourne Airport website suggests JQ35 to DPS will depart at 2215 hours, not 2210, just to be pedantic. I won't be at all surprised if it is later.

Gate lounge is full, there are about 200 people sitting here hoping it's not later. Oh, to have family lounge access on a day like today *sigh"

JQ35 Boarding commenced 2205

On 9 January 2017 when JQ35 departed at 2215, it arrived DPS at 0031 the next morning, so if feezable has her flight commence pushback at say 2230, she should hopefully be at DPS at around 0100 hours.

Not great, especially if one has a family in tow, but better than 0330.

UPDATE: JQ35 departed at about 2240, taking off at 2257. This makes it highly likely that the returning JQ36 from DPS to MEL, the scheduled 2315 hours departure will be unable to depart until about 0230 Bali time, meaning a MEL arrival of 1100 or later compared to the timetabled 0745 hours arrival.

At this stage, subject as always to change, it looks like JQ36 on Friday 13 is forming the 0955 hours day flight from MEL to DPS, JQ43, the 0955 hours. If this remains the case then it will become a 1215 hours or later departure tomorrow afternoon.

On Friday 13 January, B788 VH-VKH on the overnight JQ36 from DPS down to MEL should arrive at 1002, 137 minutes late. This aircraft looks to be forming the 1200 'high noon' MEL - SIN JQ& that is not among JQi's more punctual flights but in theory it should be unaffected today, as two hours in normal circumstances is sufficient time to turnaround the aircraft.

Meanwhile VH-VKI that was on the much delayed JQ35 from MEL to DPS arrived the latter at 0115 this morning (13 January) but has yet to depart on another sector.

JQ23, the 0050 hours from MEL to NRT departed at about 0241 so is 100 minutes late with arrival estimated as 1025 hours on 13 January.

The 0605 hours SYD - MEL, JQ501, took off at 0642. Arrival of A320 VH-VGN is predicted as 0816, 41 minutes late. This will delay JQ504, the 0805 hours MEL - SYD until about 0855 in its departure. The Melbourne Airport website claims '0840' but that is supremely optimistic.

UPDATE: B788 VH-VKI appears to be forming a very late, delayed overnight JQ38 from DPS to SYD with departure on Friday 13 January expected at 0700 hours and arrival at 1545 this afternoon instead of 0710 this morning. It is unclear why the aircraft has sat at DPS for several hours after arriving from MEL at about 0115 DPS time: were cabin or more likely flight crew insufficiently rested as per the fatigue regulations?

In further disruption affecting JQ on Friday 13 January, JQ1, the 1635 hours from MEL up to HNL will instead depart tonight at a projected 0025 hours (Saturday 14.) JQ2 back from HNL can be expected to be similarly late.

JQ988 (2015 hours SYD - PER that was airborne at 2124) has A320 VH-VFD. It should pull in to its designated tarmac position at about 2252, 37 minutes behind schedule.

On Saturday 14 January, JQ12, the overnight from NRT down to OOL (B788 VH-VKF) should pull in at about 0707 hours, 42 minutes tardy.

JQ509, the 1040 hours SYD - MEL has been cancelled.

Later on Saturday 14 January, it is another unpunctual performance for JQ35, the 1845 hours early evening MEL - DPS that should now depart at 0035 on Sunday 15. It looks to be formed by JQ44 ex DPS that is showing as 'on time' in its MEL 2255 hours arrival.

On Sunday 15, JQ36 from DPS to MEL should arrive at 1320 in the early afternoon instead of 0745 hours in the morning.

The Sunday just after midnight 0050 hours JQ23 (MEL - NRT) should instead commence pushback at 0125.

On Sunday 15 January, JQ120, the 1455 hours NAN - SYD that took off at 1614 (A320 VH-VGH) should arrive at 1930, 45 minutes late.

JQ823 BNE-SYD cancelled late afternoon/ early evening due to late arrival and missing curfew in SYD. Was the aircraft doing this JQ783 ADL-BNE?

Some unhappy passengers told to head back to service desk and collect luggage.

On Monday 16 January, JQ954 (1140 hours SYD - CNS, A320 VH-VGF) was still (at 1248) waiting in a small queue for departure from SYD.

In further on 16 January 2017, JQ517, the 1405 hours SYD - MEL (A321 VH-VWU) took off at 1457. Arrival is predicted as 34 minutes late at 1614.

The 1520 hours MEL - SYD, JQ514 should instead commence pushback at 1610.

JQ516, the 1620 hours MEL - SYD was expected to depart at 1650 but did not end up doing so until about 1715.

The 1845 hours MEL - SYD, JQ520, has been cancelled.

Continuing with 16 January delays, JQ447 (the 1600 hours OOL - MEL that took off at 1715) should arrive with A321 VH-VWX at 2013, 53 minutes late.

JQ743 (1905 hours MEL - LST, A320 VH-VGQ) took off at 2141; arrival should be 141 minutes late at 2231.

JQ25 BNE-CNS-NRT cancelled for tomorrow morning. Anyone know reason? Friends daughter meant to be on that flight and has prepaid accommodation in Tokyo.

Oh good old Jetstar....

On Tuesday 17 January, the 2330 hours arrival in MEL ex TSV, JQ917, is extremely late with arrival expected at the unappealing hour of 0330 on Wednesday 18. This looks to be because JQ916 from MEL to TSV is estimated as arriving at 2320 instead of the usual 1900 hours.

The 2145 hours SYD - MEL JQ525 (A321 VH-VWQ) took off at 2242; arrival is predicted for 0007 hours on Wednesday 18, 47 minutes tardy.
