Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Also on Monday 27 February, the domestic leg of the ex DPS and BNE JQ58 is arriving in MEL 35 late at 1255 with B788 VH-VKA.

Northbound JQ794 MEL - MCY JQ794 (A320 VH-VQS) is far more delayed, not taking off until 1234. Arrival is suggested as 1336, 136 minutes behind time.

JQ737 (A320 VH-VFL, the 1135 hours MEL down to LST) took off at 1222 early this afternoon. 27 February arrival should be at 1319, 39 minutes late.

In further on 27 February, the 1800 hours MEL - BNE (A321 Vh-VWY) took off at 1901, so it should be at its arrival gate at 2002, 47 minutes behind time.

JQ424 (140 hours SYD - OOL) was airborne at 1923. A321 VH-VWX should arrive 36 down at 1936 hours.

On Tuesday 28 February, JQ17, the 1525 hours from MEL to HKT that took off at 1604 (B788 VH-VKA) should arrive half an hour behind schedule at 2050.

AFF member Cessna 180 kindly advised us in the QF delays thread that there was heavy rain and lightning late in teh evening of Ash Wednesday, 1 March 2017 in PER. As a result JQ981, the Thursday 2 March 0735 hours scheduled MEL arrival should be on blocks at around 1007, 152 minutes late with A320 Vh-VQM as it did not take off until the shocking time of 0342 despite its 0100 hours timetabled pushback. Unpleasant for passengers to have to be waiting around at 0300 in PER (0600 in MEL.)

JQ728 (the 0840 hours arrival in MEL ex LST) has been cancelled.

The 0700 JQ503 from SYD down to MEL (A320 VH-VQK) was airborne at 0812; arrival should be at 0943 hours, 68 minutes tardy.

Earlier on Thursday 2 March there was fog affecting MEL that among the many delays saw QF30 (B744 from HKG down to MEL) diverted to SYD.

By the looks of the huge number of racetrack or other type circuits JQ605 is doing, there may still be fog at AVV. This 0755 hours SYD - AVV flight took off only about 10 minutes late at 0821 but is displaying as likely to arrive at 1113, 103 minutes late. Aircraft is A320 VH-VGV. It performed repeated circuits over Mt Buller, then one or two over Jamieson and finally a few more above Mt Baw Baw that is close to Warragul.

UPDATE: VH-VGV took off from AVV at 1143 on the 1010 hours JQ630 to OOL with arrival expected at 1242, 92 minutes tardy.

Friday 3 March has the early morning JQ771 (A320 VH-VQE, the 0610 hours ADL across to MEL) taking off at 0701 with consequent arrival estimated at 0644, 44 minutes behind the timetable.

JQ432 and JQ464, respectively from MEL the 1000 departures to OOL and BNK should instead depart at about 1045 and 1035.

In further on Friday 3 March, JQ607 (A320 VH-VFF, the 1525 hours SYD - AVV) was airborne at 1619. It should be at its destination spot on the tarmac at 1750, 50 minutes behind schedule.

JQ787, the lunchtime 1235 hours from MCY down to SYD did not take off until 1407. A320 VH-VFD should pull in at roughly 1650, 100 minutes tardy. The loss of time is due to it being in two holding patterns, initially to Muswellbrook's west then north of Pokolbin.

The mid afternoon JQ476 (1530 hours MEL - NTL, A320 VH-VQH) took off at 1630 with arrival suggested as 45 minutes tardy at 1745.

JQ709, the 1500 hours MEL - HBA is worse off with it not in the sky until 1627. VH-VQF should arrive at about 1739, 79 late.

Continuing with Friday 3 March 2017, but this time mid evening, JQ524, the 2045 hours MEL - SYD (A320 VH-VQW) did not take off until 2135so arrival is likely 31 late at 2241.

JQ461 (1645 hours BNK to SYD, A320 VH-VGR) did not take off until an extremely late 2125 hours so arrival is predicted at 2240, 270 minutes late.

In further on Saturday 4 March, A320 VH-VQQ on the 1220 hours SYD - MEL JQ511 took off at 1341, so arrival is likely at 1455, an hour late.

JQ29 (B788 VH-VKF), the 1435 hours MEL - BKK took off at 1535; arrival should occur at 2020, half an hour delayed.

A321 VH-VWQ on JQ521, the 1725 hours from SYD down to MEL was in the sky at a late 1819. It should be at its designed arrival spot on the tarmac at 1934, 34 late.

Jetstar 981 the redeye from Redcliffe to MEL was delayed by around 1.5 hr because shortly after departing the gate the pilots returned to offload a misbehaving passenger. Earlier the flight had some mechanical issues after arriving as JQ117 from DPS which delayed the flight initially.
(coalface report from a friend)

Note that the pilots operating this flight usually also operated the transcont from the east coast then immediately turning around (unlike QF). Delays such as these could affect their performance especially at their circacian nadir at 3-5am.

In fruther on Sunday 5 March, the 1350 hours SYD - MEL (JQ515) has been cancelled.

A320 VH-JQL on JQ767 (1720 hours ADL to SYD) was airborne at 1808; arrival should be at 2021 tonight, 36 minutes late.

Also on Monday 6 March, JQ774 (0830 hours MEL across to ADL, A320 VH-VFT) took off at 0916. Arrival should be at about 0850, half an hour late.

In further on Monday 6 March, JQ607 (1525 SYD - AVV, A320 VH-VQP) took off at a very badly late 1834 hours; arrival is predicted as 1949, 169 minutes tardy. The 1735 hours AVV - SYD JQ608 has been delayed to an expected 2015 - a rather optimistic departure time. 2020 or 2025 might be more like it.

On Wednesday 8 March, JQ769, the 1940 hours ADL to SYD that took off at 2048 (A320 VH-VFU) may be landing at 2301 or 2303 (two different websites' predictions) but sometimes such aircraft gain a bit more on the timetable than predicted.

Nonetheless a close run thing to breaching the SYD 2300 hours curfew.

Thursday 9 March had relatively benign weather throughout most of Australia, but JQ403 (A320 VH-VQG), the 0700 hours early morning OOL down to SYD did not take off until it was more than five hours late at 1245; arrival should be at 1459 instead of 0930 hours, 329 minutes behind schedule.

Sunday 12 March sees JQ786 (1130 hours SYD up to MCY, A320 VH-VGU) still not quite having taken off at 1252, so it will be about 45 minuets to an hour late arriving in the Sunshine Coast.
