Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

AFF's on-the-spot reporter Dmac6345 on Monday 13 March (who deserves full credit for rising early on this Victorian public holiday) advised us of a fuel supply problem at MEL between at least 0600 to 0645 hours:

http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ssion/melbourne-airport-fuel-issue-81693.html

Delay examples included JQ701, the 0600 hours MEL - HBA departing at 0659 and arriving 63 late at 0818 hours. JQ944, the 0610 hours MEL - CNS commenced pushback at 0700 with arrival suggested as 40 minutes behind schedule at 0910. The 0620 hours MEL - NTL (JQ472) departed 64 minutes late, arriving 65 minutes behind at 0855.

JQ430, the 0640 hours MEL - OOL did not depart until 0723, arriving at 0832, 47 minutes late.

The 0650 hours MEL - LST (JQ731) is showing on the QF website as having departed at 0709 but it appears it may not have taken off until 0907 with estimated arrival in northern Tasmania at 1023. Further advice on this would be good.

JQ792 (0800 hours MEL up to MCY) took off at 0836 with arrival predicted as 0955 hours, 35 late.

The 0830 hours MEL - ADL (JQ774) departed at 0910 but arrival will not be until an estimated 1007, 47 late.

In further on Monday 13 March, JQ408 (A320 VH-VFF, the 1110 hours SYD - OOL) did not become airborne until 1226, so it will be an hour late arriving at the Gold Coast terminal.

A320 VH-VQR on JQ765, the 1155 hours very late morning ADL across to SYD was in the sky at a much delayed 1435. Arrival in SYD should be at 1655, 155 minutes tardy.

Also on Monday 13 March, the 2145 hours mid evening JQ30 from BKK down to MEL (B788 Vh-VKD) instead took off at the unfortunate for passengers time of 0522 on Tuesday 14 March.

The doubtless tired patrons are arriving at about 1827 tonight instead of 1050 - 457 minutes tardy.

JQ30, the 1030 hours Wednesday 15 March 2017 BKK - MEL has been cancelled, but seemingly not JQ29 northbound. Perhaps a flight from another Australian airport to Bangkok has been cancelled so that it balances.

On a very wet Wednesday 15 March in parts of NSW (notably its north coast), JQ607 (1525 hours SYD down to AVV) was predicted to depart 90 minutes late while JQ414, the 1610 hours SYD - OOL departed at 1640, with arrival estimated as also half an hour behind schedule.

In further on 15 March, JQ479 (A320 VH-VGH, the 1730 NTL down to MEL that became airborne at 1902, about 75 late) should arrive in the southern capital at roughly 2028, 78 minutes behind schedule. Interesting - though not confusingly due to their differing callsigns - QF479 (1845 hours SYD - MEL is not far behind.

JQ767, the 1720 from ADL across to SYD took off at 1808 hours; A320 VH-VQR should arrive 38 minutes late at 2023.

A321 VH-VWY on JQ417 (the 1710 hours OOL down to SYD that was in the sky at 1813) is predicted to be on blocks at its designated gate at 2023, 43 late.

Earlier, B788 VH-VKD on the 1200 hours 'high noon' (rather infamous for late running) JQ7 from MEL to SIN took off at a very late 1601; arrival should be at around 2006 tonight SIN time instead of 1650, 191 minutes behind time. JQ8 returning is timetabled to depart at 2000 hours so expect that to occur at around the 2115 mark if all goes well with the turnaround.

The scheduled Wednesday 15 March MEL arrival of JQ216 ex AKL has been delayed from 2305 hours to an uncomfortable 0230 hours on Thursday 16, meaning that the returning JQ217 has been amended to depart MEL at a suggested 0310 instead of 2355, 195 minutes late.

On Thursday 16 March, JQ512, the 1245 hours MEL - SYD has been delayed until about 1430 in its departing, continuing JQ's shocking record of poor timekeeping on Australia's busiest air route.

JQ474 (1205 hours MEL - NTL that was airborne at 1312) should arrive at around 1436, 61 minutes late with A320 VH-JQG.

Also on Thursday 16 March, the SYD - AVV JQ607 took off at 1721 despite a departure time of 1525. A320 VH-VQF should arrive at 1844, 104 minutes late. JQ608 should depart at about 1915 instead of 1735 for the trip back to the NSW capital, although the Avalon Airport website over optimistically suggests a departure at 1900 hours. A 16 minute turnaround is not possible.

Shwoing the importance of pushing back as close to time as possible, the FRiday 17 March JQ503 from SYD to MEL, the 0700 hours did not do so until 0737.

With the often seen weekday air traffic congestion in MEL around 0900 hours, the result is that A320 VH-VQQ should arrive at around 0915 hours, 40 minutes behind schedule and a nett loss of around 20 minutes on a gate-to-gate basis due partly to being held in the usual position above Mt Buller, Vic.

In further on St Patrick's Day, JQ912 (the 1110 hours SYD - TSV, also VH-VQQ as noted in the previous post) took off at 1240 with arrival suggested as at about 1406 hours, 76 minutes tardy. So in five hours of operation, it will have lost another 35 minutes or so since 0900 this morning.

The Friday 17 March JQ35 (1200 hours 'high noon' from MEL to DPS) appears to have been cancelled; so has JQ36.

There is what is probably a replacement JQ1035, an 1825 hours MEL - DPS but that may have been put back to 1200 tomorrow (Saturday 18.)

JQ522 (1940 hours MEL up to SYD that took off at 2025, A321 VH-VWY) should be at its destination gate at 2150, 45 late.

Also on Friday 17, JQ518 (2015 hours MEL - SYD) is expected to depart shortly after 2100.

JQ824 (2025 hours SYD up to BNE that was airborne at 2139, A320 VH-VFP) should arrive 63 minutes late at 2158 hours.

UPDATE: The delayed JQ518 was airborne at 2134 hours (A320 VH-VQH.) It is forecast to arrive 67 minutes tardy at 2247. JQ525, the 2145 hours southbound took off at 2254 so on Saturday 18 March should arrive at 0006, 46 late. VH-VWY is the A321 so it will have a lost a further minute on the schedules since its northbound trip shown above.

A321 VH-VWN on JQ527 (2050 hours SYD - MEL that was airborne at 2206) should arrive at 2311, 46 minutes late.

Sunday 19 March has JQ84 from DRW down to ADL (A320 VH-VQR) having taken off at 0932, about 180 minutes tardy with arrival predicted as 1400 hours, 185 minutes late. From what I can see it originally took off this morning at 0604 but diverted back to DRW after almost reaching Katherine, NTand spent a tiny amount of time back in DRW - about 15 minutes. Further advice from other AFFers would be great. Was it a medical diversion?

The 1000 hours MEL - OOL, JQ432 (A321 VH-VWW) took off at 1044 so arrival is not predicted until about 1140, 35 late.

JQ793, the 0950 hours MCY - MEL took off at 1034 (A320 VH-VFI) with arrival likely at 1347, 32 minutes late.

In further on Sunday 19 March, JQ474, the 1205 MEL up to NTL took off at 1608 about three hours and 40 minutes late. JQ702, the 1135 hours arrival in MEL ex HBA had landed at about 1510. JQ477 from NTL to MEL, the 1610 hours arrival is not predicted to be on its blocks until about 1950 this evening.

JWQ736, the 1415 hours arrival in MEL ex LST was on blocks shortly before 1530 hours. The 1505 hours arrival in MEL ex OOL, JQ437 was slightly more than an hour behind schedule in arriving.

JQ438 from MEL to OOL, the 1500 hours mid afternoon took off at 1632. JQ516 from MEL to SYD, the 1620 hours scheduled departure was in the sky at 1718.

The 1930 hours arrival in MEL ex LST, JQ740, should be about an hour late this evening.

Monday 20 March has JQ771 (0610 hours early morning ADL to MEL that was in the sky at 0649, A320 VH-VGU) arriving39 minutes late at 0839 hours.

JQ728, the scheduled 0840 hours arrival in MEL ex LST is a lot worse with arrival suggested as about 1200 'high noon.' There may be fog affecting LST, because JQ729, the 0600 hours MEL - LST is expected to depart at after 0900 while JQ731, the following 0650 hours departure is predicted to leave at about 0920.

JQ563, the timetabled 1300 hours arrival in MEL from BNE has been cancelled.

The 0920 hours JQ832 (MEL - PPP) is not forecast to depart until about 1220 this afternoon.

A321 VH-VWW on the 1000 MEL up to OOL, JQ432 was in the sky at 1034 but arrival is not forecast until roughly 1135, half an hour untimely.

Later on Monday 20 March, JQ795 (1150 hours MCY down to MEL that took off at 1458) should arrive at 1809, 174 minutes behind schedule with A320 VH-VFP.

JQ444 (1415 hours MEL - OOL that was in the sky at 1607, A321 VH-VWU) should arrive at about 1708, 108 minutes tardy. Something must have gone wrong with another A321 because this aircraft came in from PER on time as JQ973 at about 1455 for this scheduled 1415 hours up to OOL. Not good when a transport operator has to form a departure from an arrival due in 40 minutes after the former was meant to have left.

The Sunday 19 March JQ18 from HKT to MEL appears to have been delayed by around 24 hours, with arrival suggested as 1050 hours on Tuesday 21 March.

JQ916 (1700 hours late afternoon MEL - TSV took off at 1758 with A320 VH-XSJ. Arrival is predicted as 1957, 57 minutes tardy.

The 1445 hours JQ439 (OOL - MEL, A321 VH-VWQ) was airborne at 1540. Passengers should be alighting from it shortly after 1840 hours, 35 minutes late/

Continuing with Monday 20 March, in what is soon to be a downpour-affected MEL, JQ740, the 1825 hours early evening LST to MEL that was airborne only about eight or so minutes late at 1848 should arrive at 2001, 31 late with A321 VH-VWW.

JQ520 (1845 hours MEL - SYD, A321 VH-VWQ) was not in the sky until 1938 so arrival is delayed until about 2049 hours, 39 minutes behind schedule.

JQ831 from PPP to MEL was timetabled to arrive at 1545 but did not do so until about 2017 this evening, having departed MEL northbound very late.

In the opposite direction, JQ519 (VH-VFT, an A320) should arrive a similar 40 late at 2020.

JQ 44 DPS-MEL looks like it has been cancelled...

Yes, agree. JQ43 was VH-VKJ (the usual B788.) The Melbourne Airport website though still suggests that JQ44 will arrive at 0630 hours on Tuesday 21 March 2017, as does Google, but the latter states that it was 'updated two and a half hours ago' so iut may not reflect the up to date information whatmeworry accessed.

Yet another set of substantial delays for JQi in Melbourne. There are a lot. You get what you pay for...

On a wet Tuesday 21 March 2017 in MEL - trying to match the sort of weather SYD has 'enjoyed' for the past few days - JQ772, 1220 hours MEL across to ADL took off at 1406. Arrival of A320 VH-VGI is likely at 1446, 96 minutes late.

JQ often runs late on the very busy MEL - SYD route with A320 VH-VFI on JQ512 (lunchtime 1245 hours MEL - SYD) not having taken off until 1425; arrival is estimated at 1542, 92 minutes late.

In further on 21 March 2017, JQ516 (A321 VH-VWX), the 1620 hours MEL - SYD took off at 1716; arrival is predicted as 1854, 74 late. At 1826 hours it remained in a holding pattern west of Goulburn with several other aircraft as there was a heavy storm approaching SYD with widespread rain.

JQ461 (BNK - SYD, A320 VH-VGN) should arrive at 1858, 48 minutes late given storm activity in and around SYD.

The 1625 hours HBA up to SYD did not take off until 1805. JQ756 is predicted to arrive 110 minutes late at 2000 hours with A321 VH-VWZ. It had been placed in a holding pattern west of Goulburn.
