Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

In further on Friday 21 April, a number of flights ex MEL, where the weather is rainy and gloomy, have been cancelled.

JQ520 and JQ522, respectively the 1700 and 1815 hours up to SYD have got the gong as has JQ442, the 1900 hours to OOL.

JQ712 (mid afternoon 1430 hours from HBA up to MEL, A320 VH-VQG that took off at 1534 hours) should arrive at roughly 1639, 54 minutes tardy.

The 1510 hours SYD - OOL JQ418 (A320 VH-VQA) was airborne at 1609 and therefore should be on blocks at about 1716 hours, 48 late.

In more on Friday 21 April, JQ495 (1700 hours OOL down to NTL, A320 VH-VQA) was airborne at 1815 so arrival should be 66 minutes late at 1921.

Earlier, A321 VH-VWX had been rostered to operate the 1600 hours SYD - MEL, JQ521 but this flight was cancelled, perhaps because this A321 was about an hour late, landing at 1548 on JQ411 from OOL down to SYD.

JQ502 (0735 hours MEL - SYD that took off at 0832, A320 VH-VQF) should arrive at roughly 0937, 37 minutes late on Saturday 22 April.

The 0700 hours MEL - MCY, JQ792 (A3420 VH-VQG) was not airborne until 0821 with arrival suggested as 64 minutes behind schedule at 1019 hours.

The late afternoon of Sunday 23 April 2017 has seen JQ57 (B788 VH-VKG, the 1720 BNE - DPS) taking off at 1756 for a suggested arrival at 2220 hours, 35 minutes behind time.

On Monday 24 April 2017, JQ605 from SYD to AVV is predicted to depart three hours late at 1055 hours.

JQ503, the 0700 from SYD down to MEL departed 17 minutes late but after a holding pattern en route, arrival was at 0918 hours, 43 minutes late.

In further on Monday 24 April, JQ521 (1600 hours SYD to MEL A321 VH-VWX that was airborne at 1651) should arrive at roughly 1819 hours, 44 minutes tardy.

In the small hours of Tuesday 25 April (Anzac Day), JQ949 (A320 VH-VGI) is set to arrive at 0046, 41 minutes late in MEL, ex CNS.

Meanwhile the journeying northwards ADL - DPS JQ127 (VH-VGP) should arrive on Monday 24 April at 2330 hours, 45 minutes late.

Wednsday 26 April 2017 has JQ702, the 1010 hours from HBA to MEL having become airborne at 1113. A320 VH-VGV should arrive at 1223 hours, 58 minutes late. This aircraft's next use apears to be on JQ796, the 1430 hours from MEL to MCY which shows how midweek, especially on Tuesdays and Wednesdays that may have lower passenger demand how the utilisation of aircraft even for an LCC like Jetstar is not at its possible maximum.

B788 VH-VKG on JQ43 (0915 hours MEL - DPS that was in the sky at 1006) should arrive at its major Balinese destination at 1348 hours, 33 minutes behind time.

Continuing with Wednesday 26 April, A320 VH-VGN, the 1520 hours MEL - SYD JQ514 that did not take off until 1704 hours should arrive at around 1815, 90 minutes late. This is its first flight today after landing in MEL at midnight on Tuesday night. Again, poor utilisation unless it was scheduled for maintenance.

Thursday 27 April 2017 sees JQ501, first of the morning at a timetabled 0605 hours from SYD to MEL delayed in its departure until a projected 0745 hours with suggested arrival 0925 instead of 0740. A delay of this magnitude is often difficult to recover for the whole day unless JQ cancels a later return flight.

In further on Thursday 27 April, JQ565, the 1330 hours BNE - MEL (A320 VH-VQW) that took off at 1420 should arrive at around 1631 hours, 31 minutes late.

On Sunday 30 April, JQ912 (A320 VH-VQQ, the 1025 hours SYD - TSV) took off at 1136; arrival is estimated at 1401, not the timetabled 1310.

Monday 1 May has seen JQ783 (A320 VH-VFV, the 1615 hours ADL - BNE that was airborne at 1648) suggested as arriving at 1940 hours, half an hour late.

On Tuesday 2 May 2017, JQ522, the 1815 hours from MEL up to SYD that took off at 1858 (A321 VH-VWZ) should arrive half an hour late at 2010 hours.

Southbound JQ795 from MCY down to not so sunny MEL (A320 VH-VFN, the 1715 that was airborne at 1822) should pull in at roughly 2038, 53 minutes late.

Wednesday 3 May sees JQ974, the 1520 hours mid afternoon from ADL across the Bight or Nullabor to PER that took off at 1630 (A320 VH-VFY) likely to arrive 43 minutes tardy at 1758 hours.

JQ710, the 1630 HBA - MEL (A320 VH-VGN that was airborne at 1710 hours) should arrive at 1830 early this evening, 45 minutes behind schedule. This aircraft may not be used again until the very late evening 2230 hours MEL - PER, JQ968.

While there could always potentially be maintenance scheduled, the pretty much overall stagnant passenger numbers in Australia's domestic aviation market at present (though it varies by route) gives one the impression that this is yet another example of aircraft not having the passenger demand to be used 'to the max.'

On Sunday 7 May 2017, JQ912 (A320 VH-JQL, the 1025 hours SYD - TSV that was airborne at 1057) should pull in at roughly 1342, 32 minutes late.

Monday 8 May sees the MEL - SYD JQ510 (A321 VH-VWN, the 1040 hours that took off at 1123) arriving at about 1235, half an hour behind schedule.
