Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

A320 VH-VFD on JQ476, the 1635 hours MEL - NTL that was in the air only about 10 minutes late (if that) at 1656 looks to be diverting to SYD.

The aircraft did a single holding pattern-type racecourse circuit over Stratford and Wards River on the NSW north coast but is now tracking for SYD arrival from the south. At gate arrival should be at about 1902 hours, 57 minutes late. There looks to be quite athunderstorm in the Newcastle area so this may well have been the diversion's cause.

JQ821, the 1720 hours BNE down to SYD that took off at 1833 (A320 VH-VQL) is displaying as arriving at 1941 hours, 46 minutes tardy, but with the storms around SYD and queue to arrive it may be a little later.

UPDATE: The returning NTL - MEL JQ479, the 1835 hours, did not take off until 2113 hours from NTL so arrival has become 2231 instead of 2015 hours.

The weather has not been great in MEL apparently, so JQ432 on Saturday 21 April 2018, the scheduled 1005 hours MEL - OOL (A321 VH-VWQ) took off at about 1055 and so should arrive at 1238 hours, 33 late.

In further on a somewhat foggy morning at MEL (but not as bad in other suburbs - patchy), JQ702, the 1015 hours HBA up to MEL took off at 1129. With A320 VH-VFF, it is arriving at 1237 hours. 67 late.

JQ26 from CNS down to MEL is not far behind. B788 VH-VKJ should be at its terminal gate at roughly 1241, 131 minutes late.

Fog is again in MEL on the morning of Sunday 22 April 2018 with JQ503, the 0700 hours SYD down to MEL (A320 VH-VGV) only in the early stages of taxiing as at 0822, so it will be at least an hour late into the southern capital.

This is the classic situation where unless flights are cancelled, an aircraft has a pretty good chance of being late all day.

In further on 22 April, JQ506 (also VH-VGV), the 0915 hours MEL - SYD took off at 1034. Expected arrival is 1136, 54 minutes late.

With poor weather in MEL for the fourth consecutive morning (fog), A320 VH-VGY on JQ503, the 0700 hours SYD down to MEL was only in the middle stages of taxiing at 0841.

Arrival in the southern capital will be at least 75 minutes late.

JQ561 (0715 hours BNE down to MEL) departed at 0842 hours, 87 minutes late with suggested arrival at 1117 hours, 92 late.

In further on a foggy Monday 23 April 2018 in MEL, JQ774, the 0855 hours MEL - ADL is expected to depart at 1018 with arrival at 1115 hours, 90 minutes late. JQ772 on the same route, the 1025 hours, is predicted to depart 55 minutes tardy.

MEL - SYD flights are badly delayed with JQ504, the 0825 hours northbound that departed 23 minutes late expected to arrive half an hour late into SYD at 1020 hours. JQ524, the 0855 hours is far worse with pushback predicted 130 minutes late at 1105.

JQ506 is expected to depart at 1049 - unusual to not end in a '0' or '5' - instead of 0915 northbound. JQ508, the 1005 hours should depart at 1240 hours, 155 minutes behind schedule.

Continuing with Monday 23 April, JQ775 (0815 hours ADL - MEL that was airborne at 0954 with A320 VH-VQG) is arriving at 1146 hours, 96 minutes late.

A320 VH-VQL on JQ946, the 1020 hours MEL - CNS took off at 1158, so arrival is not suggested until approximately 1508 this afternoon, 88 minutes tardy.

VH-XJE on the 1045 hours MEL - SYD, JQ508, did not take off until 1253 so arrival is delayed until 1402 hours, 112 minutes tardy.

JQ707 (VH-VQG, an A320, the 1040 hours MEL - HBA that took off at 1246 this afternoon) looks to be arriving at 1351 hours, 116 minutes tardy.

The 1045 LST up to MEL, JQ732 took off at 1248 so its arrival should be at 1339 hours, 109 minutes behind time.

In more on Monday 23 April 2018, the fog-related delays from this morning in Melbourne continue to mean afternoon lateness.

JQ438, the mid afternoon 1430 hours MEL - OOL took off at 1630. A320 VH-VGZ should arrive at 1822, 112 minutes behind.

Meanwhile JQ665, the lunchtime 1255 hours AYQ down to MEL that was in the sky at 1345 (about half an hour tardy) is arriving at 1649 hours, 44 minutes late. VH-VFL is the plane.

JQ514 (VH-VQZ), the 1520 hours MEL - SYD that was airborne at 1625 looks set to arrive at 1733, 48 late.

The very late night 2350 hours JQ128 from DPS down to ADL (A320 VH-VGU) on Monday 23 April did not become airborne until 0046 on Tuesday 24. Arrival should be 58 minutes tardy at 0723.

Also on 24 April, JQ430 (scheduled first of the morning at 0600 hours from MEL up to OOL) has had a bad start to its day with takeoff at 0800. A321 VH-VWY should arrive at about 0950 hours, 110 late.

This A321 had overnighted in MEL, so no standout reason for the delay. Interestingly yesterday it was also rosered on JQ430 but this was cancelled due to the fourth consecutive day of fog affecting MEL.

Wednesday 25 April 2018 has JQ202 (0715 hours from AKL across to SYD that did not take off until 0925, A320 VH-VGF) arriving at 1034, 94 minutes behind schedule.

Sunday 29 April has the crosscountry JQ960 from ADL up to CNS (A320 VH-VFK), the 0745 hours that took off at 0822, suggested as arriving at 1145 hours, half an hour late.

Later on Sunday 29 April 2018, JQ508 (A321 VH-VWY, the scheduled 1005 hours morning flight that did not take off until 1218 early this afternoon) should arrive at roughly 1324 hours, 114 minutes late.

This aircraft was almost two hours late on JQ730/JQ731 this morning (MEL down to LST and back), presumably due to fog or other adverse weather.

Presumably it will run late all day given that there's much higher demand on a Sunday afternoon and evening than on, for instance, Saturday during the same time. It is next meant to run the 1220 hours from SYD down to MEL, JQ511, but then has a 125 minute scheduled turnaround before JQ444, the 1600 hours MEL - OOL which if it keeps this aircraft will inevitably be delayed despite the generous time to 'reverse' the plane.

JQ472 (scheduled 0615 hours Monday 30 April 2018 MEL up to NTL) is expected to depart at 0930 with arrival at 1105 hours, 200 minutes late.

The 0700 MEL - MCY, JQ792 should depart 35 minutes late.

JQ603 (A320 VH-JQX, the 0700 hours SYD down to AVV) took off at 0754 so arrival is predicted as 45 late at 0920 hours.

JQ524 and JQ774, respectively the MEL departures each at 0855 hours to SYD and ADL have been cancelled.

The 1020 hours mid morning JQ946 from MEL to CNS is predicted to depart at 1115 hours.

Later on Monday 30 April, JQ422 (A321 VH-VWY), the early evening 1815 hours MEL up to SYD that was in the sky at 1909 should arrive at 2018, 38 minutes behind schedule.

JQ743, the evening 1905 hours MEL - LST (VH-VQE) was airborne at 2000 hours so arrival is expected at 2053, 43 minutes late.
