Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

JQ531, Monday 16 July 2018's scheduled 0640 hours SYD down to MEL (A321 VH-VWY) did not become airborne until 0728. Arrival is therefore estimated at 0850, 35 late.

In a similar vein, the following JQ503, the 0700 hours with A320 VH-VQQ was in the sky at the nostalgic time of 0747. MEL arrival is suggested as 0915, 40 late.

Making a threesome, but this one the worst, JQ501 from SYD to MEL, the scheduled 0605 hours pushback took off at 0754. A320 VH-JQX is forecast to be at its MEL destination at 0910 hours, 90 late. A delay of this magnitude is difficult to recover from all day, unless there is a midday substantial layover or a return flight somewhere else is given the boot.

JQ473 (0610 hours NTL down to MEL) has A320 VH-VQP but did not depart until 0807 hours. Arrival is therefore delayed until 0936 hours, 106 late.

In a similar vein, the following JQ503, the 0700 hours with A320 VH-VQQ was in the sky at the nostalgic time of 0747. MEL arrival is suggested as 0915, 40 late.

As at 1430 hours, VH-VWY is now not 35 but 47 minutes late on JQ825, the scheduled 1310 hours BNE - SYD that took off at 1411 and which should be in SYD at 1532 hours instead of the timetabled 1447.

VH-VQQ is on its third flight since the initial one featured above, and should arrive in SYD at 1530 hours, 40 minutes late on JQ411 ex OOL. Its next duty looks to be the 1510 hours SYD back up to OOL, JQ418, late before it even starts to board.

VH-JQX lost further time in MEL on the ground before operating JQ504 to SYD, and is presently on JQ505 from SYD back down to MEL with arrival at 1438, 143 minutes late.

JQ has not cancelled any of these aircrafts' flights thus far. Interesting that it has been impossible for any of them to make up time. The little darlings have returned to school in Vic and Qld but NSW is halfway through its July school holidays so that may well mean flights are full or extremely close to it. Therefore it's difficult to cancel flights if this is at all avoidable.

JQ796 (1430 hours Tuesday 17 July 2018 that took off at 1520 with A320 VH-VQW) should arrive at 1716 hours this afternoon, 31 minutes tardy.

Later on 17 July, JQ523 should arrive in MEL at 2022 hours, 32 late with A321 VH-VWT. This aircraft looks to next be on JQ678, the 2125 hours MEL - DRW so that should still be punctual.

Late on Tuesday 17 July 2018, JQ566 (A321 VH-VWW, the 1845 hours MEL - BNE that was airborne at 1953 hours) should arrive at 2138 hours, 43 late.

Thursday 19 July 2018 finds JQ474, the 1210 hours lunchtime MEL up to NTL that took off at 1259 with A320 VH-VGD likely to arrive at 1415 hours, 35 late.

Much later on 19 July 2018, JQ479 (the 1835 hours NTL down to MEL that took off only five minutes tardy at 1856) is arriving at 2053, 38 late as it was in a hold over Mt Buller for quite some period. A320 VH-VQJ is the craft.

JQ795 has VH-VFI and is the 1715 hours MCY down to MEL that was in the sky at 1817. Arrival is predicted for 2058 tonight, 73 minutes behind the eight ball.

On a very windy Friday 20 July 2018 in Sydney, JQ523 (1815 hours early evening SYD down to MEL with A321 VH-VWW) took off at 1913, so estimated arrival at about 2025 wilol be 35 minutes late.

The 1415 hours AYQ across to SYD, JQ661 (A320 VH-VQK) took off at 1523 with suggested arrival at 1928, 103 late. It was in a lengthy hold above Crookwell and then a later, shorter duration one above Goulburn.

JQ443, southbound rom BNE to MEL has A320 VH-VGF and should be at its destination tarmac parking spot at 2033 tonight, 53 late.

A320 VH-XSJ on the often late JQ479, the scheduled 1835 hours early evening NTL down to MEL took off at 1926. Predicted arrival is 42 late at 2057 tonight.

With the SYD north-south runways reopened, JQ143 (1940 hours SYD down to CHC, A320 VH-VFL) should be able to take off at about 2140, so it is likely to be at least 90 minutes late arriving in NZ.

JQ817 has A320 VH-VGO and is arriving in SYD on JQ817 from BNE at 2203 hours, 128 late.

Continuing with Friday 20 July, JQ17 (1450 hours MEL 0 HKT, B788 VH-VKH) did not take off until 2235 so arrival is predicted for saturday 21 at 0418 hours rather than 2045 tonight, a delay of 453 minutes. JQ18 back will be badly delayed, arriving back in MEL at 1650, meaning an uncomfortable night for budget travellers.

As a further consequence, JQ67, the 1445 hours MEL - CGO is expected to depart at 1750 hours.

JQ36, the Saturday morning 0640 hours arrival in MEL (ex DPS) has been cancelled.

On Saturday 21 July 2018, JQ762, the 0655 hours SYD across to ADL has been cancelled as has JQ503, 0700 down to MEL.

JQ972 (0715 hours MEL - PER) is also not running. This is also the case for JQ171, the 0845 hours MEL across to CHC.

The 0915 hours MEL - SYD, JQ506 has been cancelled as well. Longer distance offering JQ43 that is due out at the same time, but to DPS is also inoperable.

Saturday 21 July 2018 sees JQ945 (A320 VH-VFQ, the 0615 hours CNS down to MEL) not having become airborne until 0728. Anticipated arrival is 1027, 47 late.

The 0910 hours CNS down to OOL with A320 VH-VGF took off at 1021 so the expected 1221 arrival will be 56 minutes tardy.

A quite windy Monday 23 July 2018 in MEL finds JQ433 (0730 hours ex OOL that took off at 0759, about 15 late) arriving at 1031, 36 late with A320 VH-VGF.

JQ733, the 0910 hours MEL down to LST with VH-VFT did not take off until 1035 so will be about an hour late arriving.

Winds remain quite strong at MEL around noon (gusting to 56kmh) as JQ509 (A320 VH-VGJ, thye 1045 hours from SYD that took off at 1122) makes its way down. Should arrive at 1252, 32 late.

Later on 23 July 2018, JQ438 (VH-VGF), the 1430 hours MEL - OOL took off at 1548 with arrival said to be at 1740, 70 late. Note that five hours ago it was only 36 minutes late on an earlier flight, so since then it has lost further time.

Also on Monday 23 July, JQ63 (B788 VH-VKH, the 1515 hours MEL up to SGN that did not take off until 1641) should arrive at 2210, 65 late.

JQ523 (A321 VH-VWW) is on JQ523, the 1815 hours SYD down to MEL that was airborne at 1919. Arrival is estimated as 2037, 42 late. Its next trip looks to be JQ678, the 2125 hours MEL - DRW so that may be at least a little late departing.
