Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

JQ110 (early morning Sunday 28 May 2023, the 0650 hours PER up north to DPS) has A320 VH-VFT, taking off at 0805 hours with arrival suggested as 1131 hours, 61 behind.

JQ126, the Monday 12 June 2023 (King's Birthday) DPS-ADL has A320 VH-YXQ but wasn't airborne until 1252 hours. Expected arrival tonight becomes 1845 hours, 75 minutes tardy.

The 2140 hours BKK-MEL JQ30 (B788 VH-VKE) on Tuesday 13 June 2023 took off at 2346. At gate Wednesday 14 arrival looks to be about 1051 hours, 81 late.

Yesterday, something must have gone wrong with a sister B788 as VKE flew down empty from SYD to MEL as JQ8991, arriving at 1357 hours for its 1315 hours JQ29 to BKK, so impossible to be punctual. It took off at 1533, arriving BKK at gate at 2132 hours, 112 minutes late.

Friday 23 June 2023 has JQ40, the 1140 hours late morning DPS-SYD having taken off at 1306 hours with A321 VH-OFL. Gate arrival tonight is predicted as 2023 hours, 58 late.

JQ119 (Sunday 25 June, the 0900 hours SYD to NAN airborne at 1110 hours) has A320 VH-VGJ with gate arrival suggested as 1642 hours in the latish afternoon, 102 late.

Tuesday 27 June's JQ57 (B788, VH-VKF, the 0715 hours BNE-DPS in the sky at 0752) should arrive at about 1210 hours, 46 late.

Colleague VH-VKI on JQ43 (0925 ex MEL, also to Bali) is worse, having not become airborne until 1119 hours, so gate arrival at about 1520 hours, 125 late, is the expectation.

Any reason given for JQ43 delay? I’m on tomorrow

Any reason given for JQ43 delay? I’m on tomorrow

None apparent, as the aircraft overnighted in MEL, having operated JQ44 back from DPS to MEL on Monday. Today however is the seventh consecutive flight for which VH-VKI has either been late, or (in five of the seven) badly late. Not a good record.

Every day is different: I couldn't establish which of the fleet is likely to be 'your' aircraft tomorrow, so happy travels. Usually, working backwards can help, but we need to know which registration number.

Believe the aircraft returned to the gate. Showing as a diversion, but don't believe it took off, rather pushed back then went back to gate. As for the reason, I'm leaning towards a possible passenger issue, not tech.

@Melburnian1 consistent service as always. Better than any airline!

Meanwhile JQ32 DPS-MEL taking advantage of these crazy high level winds, left 1.5hrs late, but looks to arrive only 10 mins late.

I think 4.5hrs is a record DPS-MEL.

FR24 says it spent four hours and 42 minutes in the air. Another JQ32 on Saturday 24 June 2023 'beat it' by four minutes. Indeed, fast.

It shows why northwest/westbound flights in recent days generally have been unable to gain on timetables even where there's padding in the schedules.

Given high winds on Friday 30 June 2023, SYD has been on single runway ops for much if not all of the post-0600 hours official day.

JQ954 (A320 VH-VQM), the 1110 hours morning SYD to CNS had only just moved off its hardstand by 1422 hours, so will be at least two and a half hours late arriving in Cairns. There's a huge number of other delays, plus cancellations.

As at 1445 hours on Friday 30 June, it looks as if SYD may be back to two runways, as JQ721, the 1050 (!) hours SYD-HBA (A321 VH-OFE) has moved south of the east-west runway, and will take off to the north.

JQ234 (Sunday 2 July, the 1440 hours SYD-ZQN airborne at 1558 with A320 VH-VGV) should arrive at 2039 hours, 64 minutes tardy.

A321 VH-OFS is on JQ500, first of the morning on Friday 7 July 2023, the 0600 hours MEL-SYD but it did not take off until 0754 hours.

With a shockinly delayed start like this, depending on its roster there's a very good chance it'll run late all day. It had overnighted in MEL, arriving 37 minutes late at 2002 last night as JQ32 from DPS.
