Lets go through the list.

Anat0l, he is in his final year of study so no way he can go, or should go, yes anat0l does a great trip report so I give you points for that.
Karens, Can Karen get out of a work, no idea,
Notzac, he would be a good guy to travel, if you can spare the week away from work. does a nice trip report.
Lawlass, having met Lawlass only once she sounds fun to travel with, you definitely won't be bored traveling, and I think is the front runner for this gig.
oz_mark, what are you thinking,

One of the bad or good things about traveling is when you do it alone it can be rather boring, I have had more interesting chats with seatmates in economy than in any of the premium classes on longhaul flights.

Business or First Class is a great way to travel but not so much fun when doing it yourself.

Traveling with someone else in economy will be a great trip.

+1 Lawlass
+1 meeting interesting people in Y.

To make it a true Y experience for Bossreggie, I say NO lounges, but I grant him an exit row and no LCC.

If there have been no winners and as such no flights booked, I'd like to throw QR in as a recommendation. The 777 service out of MEL is excellent. The seat pitch puts QF to shame and the general service is brilliant (water/juice runs every 30-45 minutes it seemed). New aircraft, good mood lighting, and a reasonable chance of having an empty seat next to you (I had A and C booked and B remained empty).

The DOH terminal is a little lacklustre as they are building a new airport, but it's efficient and the layover is enough time to stretch the legs.

I can think of far worse airlines *cough*QF*cough* to fly on to Europe

(It's a shame QR are not enough of a threat to QF; their service poops allover QF).

Yeah i flew QR last year to Europe and was impressed... food was of a high quality as was service...

Getting out of a plane down onto the tarmac and onto a bus at DOH when its 38C at nearly midnight was a bit of a wake up call... Also made me think what a cough place to hold a WC in their summer as well!!!

Pity they don't fly out of Perth like EK, but would definitely fly them again...

Thanks for all your input... I appreciate it.

I'm thinking I'd like a fellow AFF member to endure the horror with me!!

Here is my deal..... I will pay for the Y ticket.. You have to do the pics AND write the TR. I will need CONSTANT alcohol AND reassurance during the flights!!

You MUST be flexible with your travel dates and be prepared to deal with me being a bit obnoxious!! ALSO.... You must be able to dress appropriately!!

NO PM's... This is 100% genuine. Tell me why you should join me on my trip from HELL!!

I'll go with you. And I'll have a crack at taking the photos and perhaps writing something.

My advice was going to be "get another son". This sounds the type of stunt my 10-year would pull. If it was me, I'd open a can of whoop-cough on the boy. But that's me. Old school.

Are you sure we can't we go EK? Because if we do, I "know" people. Wont be our fault if an op-up happens will it?

I just did SIN-LHR in Y (well 3 out of 4 legs in Y) and what I can remember of it, it was ok, but it was 4 x 6hr stints. So bearable.

Brace yourself. This won't be pleasant no matter which way you carve it.

I'm yet to have that fun (coming back BRU-DOH-MEL in a week or two) but it was around 25ºC when we landed early morning. The terminal represented a cattle station with people being herded around. It was all very orderly though.

They'd be my choice for whY travel to the UK on this bet!

I have it on good authority that bossreggie has been to the UK twice since starting this thread and neither time in Y....

So I thought I'd give it a little nudge...

Actually I am at Heathrow now. My 3rd time since starting the thread! Not in Y yet though!!

Not only did I take a wander.... I told the CSM about the bet and he came down with me and let me sit in an empty seat!! It was just awful! :-(

I am sure you will survive 24 hours! i'll put my hat back in the ring if you do June/July!!!

Heck, i'll start throwing my hat in the ring too I think, now I have top tier status with all three major alliances, and DJ as well. Surely an Etihad trip will get lounge access as well, so I can throw guested lounge access in on any of the OW/*A/ScaryTeam/DJ alliance airlines :)

I need to head to London for some stuff sometime soon, so sorry Lawlass, I'll put up my hand now :P

So when are you planning to travel in Y? You should just do it soon and get it over and done with. Otherwise your mind will play more games with you, telling you not to do it and forget about it. But you really cannot do this because everyone else in this forum is now involved and have expectations on you.

And no, I won't throw my name in the ring even though I have done Y travelling to Europe before.

Have fun and a lot of alcohol .....

I traveled Y last month MEL-LHR and had the luxury of Bulkhead seats. I also won't be throwing my name into the ring! :p
