Another idea is that you could do an MR on SQ and then fly SQ as diamond PPS...

Surely in the spirit of the bet, any offer of an op-up would have to be declined?

Lawlass.....

The spirit, and the ONLY spirit I need to be concerned with.... is scotch!!

If God chooses me for an OP-UP then who am I to argue?

If on the other hand he chooses YOU for an OP-UP..... I think he meant me!!:)

now that's the Groundhog Spirit (with apologies to "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying")

I am yet to find an airline that serves even half-decent scotch in economy, which BA probably being the best of them. So you may need to fill a small (or maybe not so small) flask from a duty-free purchase to see you through. Just be sure to use a plastic "flask" that fits nicely into a pocket to get it through any LAG screening en-route to the final destination. or better still, plan to empty it on each leg and make a new DF purchase at any interim stations. That may require some assistance from your traveling companion.

I had a thought.

You're not really enjoying () the full Y experience unless you're in the middle seat of a block of three.

So how about taking both karens and Lawlass and you sit in the middle?

Then again, for truly uncomfortable, you could subsitute karens and Lawlass with two robust blokes of at least 6"4" and 100kg :shock:

Since we're dreaming up horror stories ... no long haul whY flight would be complete without the economy check in experience, no lounge access and a flight delay of at least 3 hours stuck in a gate lounge ..

Fly scarey team in Y Korean or aeroflop middle section middle seat

And no bulk head or exit row.

Well, I'm still in.

I will happily wag uni for this little adventure. I am sure I can sell it to my lecturers as a chance to hone my writing skills as I seek to get across bossreggie's obnoxiousness with pathos and whimsy so that he will not come across badly, as per one of the stipulations of the contract. I believe that will take a GREAT deal of skill in this particular instance.

Pics and words I can do, provided you are happy that the pics come from an iPhone 4. If we get a plane with internet access, we can even do real-time updates.

Alcohol... well you know from experience that I can do alcohol. I don't know if I can go to the heroic lengths of karens, who offered to let you have hers as well as yours though.

If you give me a list of movies and/or TV shows that you would like access to, I can have these all downloaded ready to watch on the iPad in case the offerings of IFE in question are just too dire.

...

I will glare menacingly on your behalf at any seat-kickers or inappropriate recliners. My super-awesome noise-cancelling headphones and ambient noise iPhone app are yours for when someone's precious darling starts squawking. My overhead locker space is your overhead locker space.

I will wait at the carousel for your non-prioritised luggage to come through.

Finally, we have already spent a 20-hour straight stint in each other's company and did not kill each other.

Thank you for considering my application.

Love Lawlass

Can I just say....ooo, I like her a lot:!:

Can't help that I'm a sucker for supporting the fellow uni bum (and at that one that appears to be able to write with utmost wit and tact!)

Although - I must contend - you need a real camera! iPhone 4 would not do justice! I wouldn't call for a SLR, but at least a decent compact P&S.

If you know uni like we all do, lecturers don't care much if you're not there, unless lectures were assessable (doubt it). That's what lecture notes and audio captures are for...

And I can upload pics of me in various travelling outfits so that you can advise me which you deem suitable attire for the journey.

I'm not sure if I can make a remark on this without getting slapped... ;) :p

Fly on NZ - fly Y to AKL (get your pic taken during this sector), then J from AKL-LAX-LHR. Simple.

Have you booked yet? I think they best way to avoid would be to fly CX and pray for an Op-Up....

To fully benefit from the 'Y' experience, could I suggest;

LAN - SYD-AKL-SCL-GIG,
AA - GIG-MIA-DFW-SAN-LAX,
UA - LAX-PIT-ORD,
AA -ORD-LHR.

A total of 22,252 miles! :lol::shock::lol:

I have not booked yet.... Still not 100% of timing.

I will NOT be flying a LCC.... Nor will it be without lounge access or a priority check-in area. I will try for exit rows and I will hopefully not have anyone, except for my travelling companion sitting with me. (This may require the purchase of a 3rd ticket)

I can't in good conscience buy an F ticket and tell my son I flew Y. I would love to do that... But, should he ever find out.... I would have lost quite a bit of his respect.

I am also not 100% of the routing I should take. Any further ideas will be welcomed.

The earliest I can leave is the 16th as I have a weekend in AKL for the public holiday.

You are a very cruel person!!:p

You will be more likely to find a 3 legged ballerina than Reggie on this routing!!

You could schedule all day flights. Aus - hkg (sleep overnight) - LHR

Then my suggested routing above would be perfect - short stop in AKL before enjoying the rest of the journey!

If you pay for it I will fly it

No I am not a 3 legged ballerina, but if you put up for it I'll wear a tutu for the duration of the trip. :p

At least I have worn a pink tutu on stage but I'm still not going on that run!
