Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Re: Advice for LAX lounging

Hello, my partner and I are travelling through JHB to Dar Es Salaam and return (to/from ADL via PER) in August. I have access to lounges in JHB via ANZ FF Black and Priority Pass, however, what would be the chances of any of these lounges either a) allowing my partner to gain access or b) using one of my 4 entries (from Priority Pass) for her to gain access before option c) of paying for her or d) not bothering. Perth will suck, as we flying South African and VA, so no Qantas Club :( A check of flights later realised QF and EK released similar priced tickets, but we were too late.

Re: Advice for LAX lounging

Current terms and conditions from the QF web site for WP are "International Lounge access is also provided to one guest and up to two children (aged 4-17 years)[SUP]37[/SUP] who are traveling with you on the same flight."

We are booking tickets for the family to travel from SYD-NAN, and the QF code tickets (giving lounge access) are significantly more expensive than FJ tickets (no lounge access).

If I book the QF codeshare and the family (both kids under 5) on FJ tickets, can I guest them into the lounge? They would be on "the same flight', although not the same flight number.

Hi all. I'm flying out of LHR T3 later this month, flying JL, and was just wondering which FLounge is the pick of the bunch? I'm a QF WP.

TIA

Question is often asked, FWIW here's my take based on a lounge crawl in March
BA for ambience and champagne, CX for noodles, don't bother with the AA Flagship it's pretty sad.

Thanks PF, appreciate the reply. I'm only intermittently connected by WiFi so searching is not so easy.

Hi All, next month I'm off to Europe and am trying to work out my options for lounges in LHR and HKG.

My flight details are:

1. QF9 in J to LHR arriving 13:50 at Terminal 3, then departing Terminal 3 at 16:25 on BA flight in Y to Prague.

2. FRA to MEL in J on CX; transit in HKG from 06:50 to 10:35.

I'm currently SG with QF and a Qantas Club member (through my employer).

For the LHR transit, the Oneworld website seems to say that as I'm travelling onwards the same day my business class status applies to the Y flight as well (for lounge access).

I've been researching the different lounges in both airports and am a bit overwhelmed with all the choices. For both stops my priorities are some reasonably healthy food, a hot shower and good wifi. Hoping QF9 is on schedule so I have enough time.

Any recommendations would be most appreciated, thanks.

I had the same question so thanks, don't have to go searching now :)

Thanks. Would you go CX then BA? Or BA then CX?

Depends on the time of day. Breakfast is better at BA than CX. Remember that if you are flying QF F you also have access to the EK Lounge. It's very spacious with great views and close to the gates that QF usually departs from.

If I'm on QF2 I'll go to CX first then BA and the opposite for QF10.
If I'm lucky enough to be in F then I head over to the EK lounge for the last 1/2hr prior to boarding.

your Qantas gold gives you lounge access before any oneworld flight - so the rules around connecting from long-haul to short-haul don't really affect you (but you were correct, if you didn't have status, you could have used the lounge before your economy flight anyway).

As a oneworld sapphire you can access any oneworld business class lounge... I don't have any suggestions for Heathrow, but in Hong Kong I'd only advise to avoid the G16 Lounge. That's the former Dragonair Lounge and it's pretty basic. All the rest of the Cathay lounges are pretty good, all serve champagne for example. The Cabin however doesn't have showers, and the Pier is closed. So you could just go to the one closest to your connecting flight.

You could also check out the Qantas lounge in Hong Kong. It's pretty good for a drink at the bar (I'm not such a fan of the food, but most other people like it).

Yes, QF F. Didn't even consider EK. Will definitely do that.

hello
I’m flying emirates j Dubai to Madrid. I am a lowly bronze. my husband, a wp is flying oconomy qf Dubai to London. can i get into the Dubai first lounge with him? we will arrive in Dubai together off qf 1. I note that as a wp he has access to the Dubai first lounge and can take a guest in so long as that guest is on the same on the same flight. given that we aren’t on the same flight out of Dubai, is there any likelihood of me being admitted to the first lounge as his +1?

can’t find the answer to this one anywhere hence resorting to your expertise, dear AFF community.
thanks in advance!

I would ask nicely without any expectation. Of course you are both welcome to visit the J lounge.

Depends on the time of day. Breakfast is better at BA than CX. <snip>

Breakfast may be better in the BA F lounge than the CX, but was nothing compared to Syd Flounge. I asked if it was possible to have some smoked salmon to go with my eggs, but no, not on menu, although I got the impression that there was a total disinterest in service.
