Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Re: Gold Status Avianca

I have Gold Status with Avianca (member of Star Alliance Group) Will this allow me to use the lounge when flying out of Sydney on a Thai Airlines ticket:confused:??

As Avianca Gold status is equivalent to Star Alliance Gold, and Thai Airlines is a Star Alliance airline, then yes.

You'll have a choice of the Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines lounges. :)

Found the answer the hard way.

It's a very Singapore "no". Not going to happen.

The only exception is PPS. In my dreams!
Occasionally one can get lucky.

A Qantas Platinum and wife arriving in SIN were able to access Qantas First lounge with a Platinum in-transit when Qantas still had First Lounge in SIN.

I probably should have said a very Singapore Airlines "no" ;)

Pretty sure we're fine, but just wanted to check. I read over on FT that the TBIT lounge is a OW lounge operated by QF not a QF lounge! Does that mean that a QC member flying on QF/AA codeshare to MEL doesn't have access? Can't be can it?

Are you on a QF flight #?

The TBIT lounge is indeed a oneworld lounge operated by QF.

The QF website does state that QP members next onward flight must be a QF or JQ flight number.

we're on QF metal but AA flight number.

Does the JV between USA and Aus require that AA/QF flight numbers receive equivalence or something of the sort?

I think I already know the answer, but hoping someone can elighten me a little more. That is, before I ring Qantas.

I've got flights March 6th on QR, MEL-DOH-IST (and return Mar 16th) in J. Wanted to go via QF, but the $$$ difference was astonishing. And I have plans for my QFF points later this year and next. (Japan and a RTW). Plus was tempted by the high praise I've heard for QR's J product. It is not a QF codeshare btw. Which might be the killer.

But, my question is, I'm just QFF silver, but a QP member , do I have access to the International Business Lounge at MEL ? My reading says no. Only the QP. Qatar's website suggests the QP, as does QF's site. So, clutching at straws that I may have misread it and someone who has flown QR J from MEL might be able to enlighten me.

Not such a big deal really, just would have been nice to start off there.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Bren

You have access by virtue of travelling in J.

Thanks Tom for the quick reply.

That's what I would have thought too.

Oh well, "once more into the fray" I shall go. Guess I'll find out on the day.

Thanks again

Re: Advice for LAX lounging

Sorry for the query. I searched this post but most LAX related lounging titled posts talk about lounges across the globe, not LAX.

QF WP + 1 arriving off QF11 in Y with checked luggage with a 6 hour connection before flying F LAX-DFW-DCA. Can we collect baggage, re-check baggage at T4 (is there an AA location in TBIT this can be done?) then re-enter TBIT airside to gain access the First Lounge? Would rather kill 2/3rd's of the time in the Flounge and head to the AA lounge an hour or so before departure.

I am sure this is possible but for the life of me after not being on the forum for a few months I cannot seem to find any reference.

Thanks in advance.

:)

In SYD just ask the checkin agent to check your bags through to DCA. After immigration and customs at TBIT just drop your bags at the transfer desk. Take the lift on your right, up to departure level, proceed to security and then to QF F lounge.

Re: Advice for LAX lounging

HI Geordie,
I perhaps can help on part of this question as I have personal experience with it.

Ok, re-entering TBIT airside certainly can be done. I've done it. Like yourself, had a wait for a T4 AA connection. Be prepared for a question or 2. Just say you want to do some shopping.

As to entering the first lounge? Not sure if that's possible. I only entered the Business Lounge. Does AA "F" domestic count for it. Not sure? Perhaps others could help with that?

Re: Advice for LAX lounging

Since geordieladinoz is showing as QF WP, they should have no issues accessing any oneworld lounge in in LAX before their AA flight to DFW.

I did similar late last month - arriving off QF93, I re-entered TBIT after immigration & customs, going through the security line. I then accessed the Qantas First lounge based on my oneworld flight to PHX. After a shower I went out landside and to T4, entering using my Priority AAccess and used the Flagship lounge.

Re: Gold Status Avianca

Couldn't find anything related so here's my question:

Flying SQ R into LHR in the morning and flight to JTR in either A3 (*A member) or BA in Y around midday. Is it possible to access SKL in LHR on arrival or pre-departure for JTR?
I'm thinking it may be a 'no'.

Accessing SKL in LHR would be fine on departure if you have *G, but no arrivals access for SQ pax at any port AFAIK. Doesn't hurt to try though! I was denied in SIN, but they may be more lenient/less aware at an outstation.

Arriving in HKG on BA31 in F. Next flight is CX J. Am I able to access The Wing CX F lounge? TIA.
