Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

As long as your VFF number is already in your SQ profile, I found a way to select it. First add your Krisflyer number and "save" changes. Then go back in, and suddenly VA can be chosen. Select that and resave.

Question on behalf of sibling (QF Gold) travelling with partner (QF Silver) and 2 kids 4yo and 9mo SYD-DXB-VIE and return on EK booked on QF site with QF codeshare.

SYD.
Best going to QF Bus Lounge as all 4 will get in.
At EK lounge would be limited to one guest, <2yo free, but older child would be half of US$130.

DXB.
Also limited to one guest, <2yo free, but older child would be half of US$150
(Just worth it for 3hr layover unless delays)

VIE
Emirates seem to use the new Vienna lounge.
I'm assuming only one guest, though the lounge also has paid access.

It’s been a while for me but EK did allow my kids in when they were younger even although we were above the guest limit.

Hey everyone, someone I know is travelling SYD-CGK-IST-DSS, booked direct with TK. SYD-CGK is on QF metal, everything else is on TK metal. The layover at IST is 22 hours. The pax has a QF AMEX Ultimate CC

Question is : can the pax access any of AMEX lounges in IST using the QF AMEX Ultimate?

No. The card provides 2 Qantas lounge access passes for Qantas operated lounges. So far as I can tell Qantas doesn't operate a lounge in IST. The two AmEx lounges passes provided are only valid for AmEx operated lounges in Australia (i.e. Sydney and Melbourne).

Unless they have Gold level frequent flyer status with Star Alliance (i.e. United Premier Gold) are travelling in business class, or have lounge access some other way (i.e. holding an AmEX Platinum charge card), they won't have access. That being said, they might be able to buy access to a lounge for a nominal fee which depending on how long the layover is, might be worth while. For instance, the IGA lounge at IST sells lounge access for €60 for 4 hours which sounds like a lot until you realize they've got showers, a buffet and massage service.

Thank you @kangarooflyer88 for your response.

Re: lounge at IST for QF Amex Ultimate - I figured as much, but still wanted to put the question here and see if my understanding is correct.

I’ve asked my mate to consider buying the €60 pass. But I highly suspect that he would. I’ve also advised that given he’s got 22 hours to kill, why not go into the city and take some sights, food and local culture.

Given they have a 22 hour layover with Turkish they may be able to get a free hotel stay from the airline. At the same time, I would tend to agree that given the long layover it may very well make sense for them to enter Turkey and go exploring (provided of course their passport allows for it). Plenty to see and do!

Slightly off topic, with the new SQ rule about guests needing to be on the same flight, does that apply to VA Gold member and their guest who may be on a different VA or SQ flight? Does the guest policy follow the VA rules or the SQ rules in this instance?

Sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn't find it in the search function...

I am transiting with my friend through Doha airport - we both have classic awards in Business Class on QR - I have QF Platinum status and my friend no status/bronze.
Are we eligible to use the Al Moujarn Business Lounge? Not sure what eligibility we have in Doha.

Thanks for the advice.

If you are travelling in Business class on QR using QFF classic award ticket - yes you can (even as a QF Bronze like me) I did it twice last month.

Edit: interestingly if you have a paid discount QR business ticket, some fare types don't allow access (you can access other lesser lounges) .

For lounge access questions I always download the free tool Lounge Buddy onto my iPhone from the iTunes store and it gives you all the options for all cards on all airlines that I have used in all airports I have used.

The AM lounge in DOH is accessed by class of service.
A J award will get each of you in.
Your status is irrelevant.

Do you get VA status and points when flying Singapore Airlines booked through VA.

Does it make any difference if booking Singapore Airlines flights ex Australia via VA or SQ websites? I don't think you can choose seats when booked through VA (economy) but you can when booked via SQ?

When you book SQ flights on VA website you need to get the SQ booking reference and go to SQ website and choose seats.

Hi
I am trying to strategise a way to get all of my family (2 adults, 13,11,8) into a lounge for our layover in DOHA.
I have Velocity Platinum status, a Velocity Amex Platinum card + Secondary cardholder, priority pass and we are flying economy on QATAR.

As I read it here International lounge access | Virgin Australia only myself and 1 guest can get into the lounge based on my platinum membership, but was hoping for a better result than that.

Any suggestions are much appeciated.
thanks

A few questions...

Does your Priority Pass account include access for one guest?
Does the second adult have a Priority Pass membership?
Would you be willing to pay for one person and/or split yourselves between a couple of lounges?

No guest access I think.
Don't think 2nd adult has membership.
Willing to pay if I have to. Can split family if required, but preferable not to.

thanks

As a QANTAS platinum, travelling on a QANTAS domestic ticket, can I access the QANTAS International lounge in the same way? I have an onward international ticket, departing the same terminal, but not a QANTAS OR OneWorld partner. I'm in Melbourne T2 right now.
