Seems all the good ones are out of stock :(

I bought a Crumpler case earlier today. I was having problems with the website and stock when choosing delivery. I changed it to 'collect' and the purchase went through. I have also received the david jones confirmation that it is available to be picked up tomorrow so I am assuming there was some issue with the website.

If anyone is in the market for a lightweight softside suitcase set:

Online Stock Clearance currently has the Samsonite 72 Hours 3 piece luggage set for $179.40 (they list the RRP as $299)
I think they have mis-priced the set as the cost of the 55cm 72 hours carry on bag is what usually retails for $299
The RPP of the set should be $1177 according to other sites offering this set (usually priced around $707 with a discount)

If its accurate, that a potential $528 saving!

Looks like they heard you. Back to $706.

I arrived in Europe yesterday morning with a broken luggage. I lodged a claim and I was literally looking for new luggage when I saw the post (thanks mrpasqualee). Hope they honour orders placed with them while the price was $179.40.

Glad a a fellow forum member could benefit!

I also ordered a set, just need to wait n see if they come through.

You will have to let us know.

I just logged onto my order to see if they had updated my order status.
They have retroactively changed the order amount, saying I must now pay the balance - no other notification received.

hossein_au - I'm assuming you will see the same when you log in.

Anyone know if they are obliged to honor the initial listed price? I have screenshots of the entire purchase process, and an invoice from them showing a $0.00 balance owing on the order.

I think they are permitted to ask the correct price or withdraw the item from sale.

I am also seeing the exact same thing; asking for a further $526.80. I also have the screenshot of the order, full payment, etc.

Are they? Genuine question; I'm sure any merchant is permitted to withdraw items from sale anytime they wish, but are they permitted to change price once a transaction is completed and the asking price fully paid?

Kind of. They are not obliged to give you the items at the mistake price, but must refund you if you no longer wish to purchase. They can make you an offer of paying the difference, but again you are not obliged to pay this and are entitled to cancel.

What you are not entitled to is the goods at the mistake price, regardless of whether they have taken payment. It is not a bait and switch unless they advertise it at the "mistake" price and then mark it up.

Ozbargain has lots of discussion in this, as some of the best "bargains" are mistakes, obviously. Various companies handle it differently. Maybe approach them and see if they will meet you somewhere in the middle.

I'm looking around for something to replace my Victorinox checked luggage bag. The Victorinox zipper lasted about 12 months (with no over-packing) and only a few uses. I've had to get a zipper repair done twice and now it's gone again, so am looking for another brand this time.

I use a Crumpler Dry Red (58cm?) with 2 wheels for carry-on. I bought that almost 2 years ago with something like a 30-40% discount in a Sydney Department store (Myer or DJs) at the time, and I'm very happy with it.

I was following the Crumpler (limited sales) while recently in Melbourne over Chistmas and visited stores in Brighton and Prahan but those (in late December) were offering limited stock, only, and sales didn't cover what I was after (The Dry Red #11, 76cm, $395 was not discounted).

If it comes along at 40% off, I will buy it.

So, in the meantime I may need to come up with Plan B (or Plan C) for my next checked luggage purchase.

Love it :D
I bought a vis-a-vis carry on in black with red handles when they had the pre-Xmas sales on and can't wait to try it out !

I got the black with black handle set and my girlfriend got the black with green handles. Both in the Christmas sale (20% off). The smaller checked one got its first outing today, SYD-ADL. They do scratch easily given they are gloss black. I think they would be better matt black, ours look seasoned already. The green straps also dirty very easily. It is luggage after all I guess.

Same here. Bought the black and black 78cm a few months ago and the black and red 68cm like PrincessFiona at the DJs sale. As they are a glossy case, they do scuff up quickly. Ours has a few scratches after it's first OS trip. I still think they look pretty good and a few more airline stickers on it and I'll feel like a seasoned traveller again ;)
