Can't image why they wouldn't want you to know the weight. ;)

Its a silly idea.

If you're ever in a situation, where you need your clothing accessible like that out of a suitcase, I'm guessing its a high chance you'll be in a room, where they'll have things called wardrobes, shelves or drawers..

Yes, but that would involve unpacking. Plenty of times where I'm only staying 1 or 2 nights that I haven't unpacked, and trying to locate that required item of clothing has meant rummaging through the suitcase and messing up the entire contents.

Where can you obtain spare parts for Antler (Liquis) luggage in Sydney. I am aware of a major luggage seller/repairer at Mascot/City who wants ridiculous $ for a 20c item (plastic foot with 2 self tapping screws) which is obviously a fault with this range as it is the second time that it has been removed in transit. Antler spare parts in the UK closed down a few years ago.

Look at the size of the bag, overkill for one or two nights surely.

And check this post (http://www.australianfrequentflyer....travel-options-wp-g-sin-46436.html#post757093) for some inspiration, if I'm organised enough, I keep each days needs in seperate bags.

That item is always at the bottom of the suitcase, so should be relatively easy to locate.

Obviously, I wouldn't take a bag of this size if staying only 1 or 2 nights. What I meant was, whilst travelling around for a couple of weeks or more, but staying at one location only for a couple of nights.

Like I said, good in theory, but as the weight is not specified, I would guess it's a thumbs down on that score.

Well.. Considering the delays now expected with Trunkster. I'm most definitely regretting my decision.

I'll have to go buy some thing else for the short term.

If you are going to the US, there are some very adequate cases in shops such as Ross and Burlington in many cities. Perhaps start the trip w' HLO and buy a case at your destination. This is a good strategy if travelling in LCCs - JQ,. when they charge for luggage. It's only necessary to pay for luggage on the return.

Sampsonite luggage seems to polarise fellow AFFers, I am a fan and have a few of the Cosmolite spinners.

The one I use the most has done about 400 sectors in 4 to 4.5 years. I have had an axel in one wheel fail and Sampsonite sent me a complete replacement set. I contacted them during the week as the hinges have worn through - it is wear and tear in my opinion but I asked if it was covered by the warranty anyway. They advised it was not but they are sending me new hinges at no cost anyway.

I have only had good service from them and I am happy to give credit where I believe credit is due.

Same thing has happened to my case. How do you contact them?

My replacement hinges arrived in the mail today

Mrs C is currently looking to upgrade/modernise our luggage. Currently we have multiple 61cm and 69cm Paklite suitcases with trolley wheels which I'm happy with (and survived multiple attempts by QF and TSA to destroy them). ( Actually I still have old Paklites that are battered but not broken and are 30+ years old: however they are landscape not portrait with wheels on the long edge and a "Lassie" lead that ensures the case falls over as it trundles behind you: thus no longer in regular service except for trans-Bass Strait son-to-from-uni bump-in and-out.)

However, back on topic, our current cases are Pakheavy rather than Paklite, weighing in a 6+ kg each. Mrs C is quite taken with the Victorinox Werks Traveller 5.0 cases with spinners. (4.1 kg each - means another 1.5kg shopping  ). I think I prefer the version with trolley wheels as the wheels look snug against the suitcase body and, I imagine, less prone to amputation than spinners appear to be. I'm wondering what other AFFers think: trolley or spinner. We have Victorinox onboard-friendly cases that are of excellent quality, so lean towards Victorinox as a brand.

We have had several cases - Samsonite - the wheels fell off ! Antler Liquis - I bought the set, 2 large and one medium bag after I was happy with the cabin bag, but both large cases have cracked - one very large right across the base of the case, hinges broken and on the last trip the handle came completely off the roll on ! I have also been using an IT Luggage roll on of late and I am very happy with that. It was cheap, it is light weight (1.6kg) and so far it is coping with our travels better than the expensive brands have. I think the split 50/50 style of case is the problem, having a lot of weight in the lid certainly adds a strain to those hinges. We have looked at the Samsonite 72 hour range but I can get two IT large cases for basically the price of one Samsonite. So before our next trip in September I am going to buy the IT Luggage large suitcases ( 2.3kg ). We will see how they go, hopefully they will last longer than the Antler did.
