Macquarie Bank takes over from HSBC

No new cards for me yet. But I was one of the last to receive the statement with the mention of the new changes, so not surprised I am at the end of the process. Receive an email offer of 10% off for activating before April 25th. No bonus points offer for activation yet.

No sign of any new cards for me. I did get the annual fee charge reversed last month by calling to cancel so will probably keep it for a while to see if any no annual fee for life deals come up from other providers.

My new card arrived and as I hadn't got around to getting another card I just went with it. They have been promising all sorts of lures to activate the card with the big 10% off the next Woolies shop being the main one. Woohoo! I received an email giving me a login to use but was told to use the password I'd been sent. As I'd received no password I had to call to activate, which just meant me being given a password over the phone. Anyway I had to stop using the old card straight away and change over a few automatic payments.
Today I got a survey asking me how the phone call went (which I rated highly as I got what I wanted quickly) but then there were the next questions on whether I'd recommend the card and how I rated it - gave some low ratings. Then I had the chance to tell them why and said their fees were too high and since the 'enhancing' (no I didn't use that word) of points earn this was now a secondary card and I'd be looking to cancel in the next 12 months unless that changed. I'm sure they'll be panicking now.

FWIW, after reading the bpay issues I called WOW yesterday and advised I wanted to make a payment. They advised me to activate the new card before making the payment - told them not interested in doing that (waiting for the 5k offer :D) so they made an adjustment on the account and the payment is showing this morning:D They also said anytime I wanted to make another payment I should call so that they can make the necessary notes for next day payment.

What a joke, they can't force you to activate and do they seriously think they can not accept your payment. I wish someone would report this to FOS, this is not acceptable behaviour!

Theres no problem paying the account with bpay. Just pay it as i did 5 times in the last 3 weeks . It hits the account within a few days.

No need to call.

Im not sure how many more times i can repeat myself

If you want to pay and spend ... a few days, is a few days too late!

Repeating yourself probably means no one is listening to you ;) lol

Funds were available next morning every time i did it. But the statement entry was not updated for a few days

That would be correct. Time to restrict to $2,500/mth till anual fee due.

I'm moving some payments across to Amex.

For BWS and Woolies Caltex stations, now for example , I use the Amex and get my EDR card scanned separately.

I justcan't believe that Macquarie don't recognise their flawed reasoning.

Just received the 2000 point offer. Will be holding out until the bitter end to see what their best offer is.

Card will be cut up regardless.

Yes I just got the 2000 point offer.
Should I hold out for 5000 points?
I will be keeping the card.

Me three. I'm holding out for the 5k:D I'm keeping this one as the CBR friendly cards are dropping like flies .... 0.5/$ is starting to look like one of the better ones. lol

My new cards arrived Friday. Filed in drawer as no rush to activate. Received 2000 points offer today.

Received both a text message and an email today reminding me to take up the 2,000 point activation offer. "Time is running out".

I have until 25 April to decide so am hanging out for a better offer.

I activated my new card at the start of March after receiving the 5k offer. The 5k points are now showing in my Woolworths money account - I expect that they'll land with Qantas once I receive my next statement.

As an aside, the customer service I have received has been absolutely atrocious since the change from HSBC.
