That was a long article.

I can see why they weren't happy with the Qantas tie-up, if Qantas didn't want to bring anything but their IP. It's a shame really, as I think a new premium carrier for Asia in that region would have been good for QFF's... so now MAS just needs to become that carrier.

It's a shame that MH can't bring the A380 to SYD because of breakdowns in the negotiations to increase the capacity cap between SYD and KUL.

The risk is most likely in knowing which booking classes count and which do not.....

MH changed their fare structures and booking codes last year in an attempt to be more in line with OneWorld carriers.

These are business class flights HKG-KUL-BKK so I am assuming should be earning class.

Yes, but the business class on their new B737-800s are much nicer than the the business class found on VA's B737-800s.

Try HKG-KUL-BKK on a 737-800.

As long as it is not an E190 with 2 economy seats sold as business class it should be OK.

No both flights for now are 737-800's.

I just checked again and found a UL flight in business class on an A330 ~AUD500 cheaper. Hmmm....

Booked mid Feb for DEL-KUL-BNE in J. Hopefully that will count, and there won't be a last minute deferral of OW entry.

Not on all of them? I flew J on a brand new MH 737-800 KUL-HKT back in September, and I'd say the J product was about the same as AU domestic J.

It was a little weird though - the plane was less than three months old, had BSI, new-looking seats in Y, etc - but the seats in J looked like they'd been pulled from another aircraft and installed into this one. They definitely weren't three months old, like the rest of the plane.
