Re: Malaysia Airlines to join oneworld

From PER, I mean, as part of the QF pullout rumour. I think it very unlikely overall, but I don't quite think management are making the smartest moves right now.

Re: Malaysia Airlines to join oneworld

Is this another rumour doing the rounds?
Why would QF pull the plug on SIN? To create a hub in KUL? Makes no sense even with MH in Oneworld.

Hey I've heard QF gonna pull the pin on SIN, and create a hub in KUL:p:p
Heard it on AFF so it must be true  Cheers skip

I think Afghanistan has a lower cost base so I would expect Joyce would look to there.

On a cost basis, hub out of DPS, us Aussies can have a stopover in Bali enroute to London or Asia destination. Oh this is sounding very JQish.

Back to topic, would be interesting how the QF-MH partnership pans out. But for now please hurry up MH.

MH sent an email out to Enirch members last week. It doesn't really say a lot, just confirms what has been already announced.

Dear Mr. Richie9x

We are proud to announce that starting 1 February 2013, Malaysia Airlines will officially join the oneworld alliance,
a global network of airlines serving over 800 destinations in more than 150 countries around the world.

As an Enrich member, you will automatically enjoy frequent flyer rewards and Elite tier status recognition on all
oneworld member airlines.

This means that apart from earning Enrich Miles and Elite Miles on Malaysia Airlines, you will also earn miles on
eligible oneworld flights every time you travel. Enrich Miles can be used to redeem flights on Malaysia Airlines and oneworld airlines, while Elite Miles can be used to maintain or upgrade your Enrich Elite tier status. This applies to
all members regardless of tier.

In a nutshell, here are the impressive benefits waiting for you:
The above is just a small preview of what to expect. We will soon have even more information on your oneworld status and privileges. For more on the oneworld alliance, please visit oneworld.com.

Warmest regards,
Enrich Team

It doesn't say a lot, but I hope this basically means there's no more posturing about when they will join and more about now they are joining.

It would be nice if Qantas promptly published the earn structure with MH codes, but my guess is that there's a lag on getting this up.

At least we finally have an official join date!

Has anyone noticed that you can no longer manage bookings at MH made prior to 25/10 this year from the website? Sounds like a back end systems change ... or catastrophic database loss :(

I'd say database change. CX did the in April this year too.

I've noticed you can't put a QFF number in an online MH booking yet...

You can get your QFF number put into your MH booking when you check-in, or in the MH lounge. I did this last week. Apparently its been possible for several months now. I wasn't going to earn any appreciably enrich points anyway, so I thought I'd give it a go to see what happened. Nothing posted so far - maybe nothing will.
