They did put some clips on youtube about joining Oneworld. I started watching the first but got bored half way through, so stopped.

I got as far as the end of the teaser. Can't see it going viral. Interesting that they used AJ's initials, intended or unintended double entendre?

Cheers skip

Also at one point in the first video, there is a Malaysia airlines logo on a place card and qantas logo right next to it...

The current MAS CEO/MD Ahmad Jauhari Yahya (the guy in the video) is also known as AJ.

Photos please! Looks like thay have spa services as well :). Hopefully, QF plats can use the Platinum Suite:p
Golden Lounge

Note that according to the website, the Santai Spa is not free of charge.

The Platinum Lounge has slumber / day rooms, which could be quite useful in some cases.

There appears to be a Business Class Lounge, a First Class Lounge and then the Platinum Lounge. Could be an access set up a bit like LH at FRA (viz. FCT), or BA at LHR (viz. CCR).

Indeed, there are some nasty layovers at 4am I seem to remember if doing Asia-SYD for example :)

Hi, I want to book an economy flight to Amsterdam in September. I'm a Gold Qantas FF and I'm wondering if I need to wait till 1 February 2012 to book and get the points. The price right now is excellent.

I also like having the flight bookings appear in my FF account,.

Cheers

I have a feeling that the date you booked your flights isn't what determines if you will earn, it is the travel date.

As for appearing in your FF profile, that will only happen if the airlines booking software is the same as QF, which is Amadeus.

It seems Gold (Sapphire) would get access to J lounge, and Platinum (emerald) would get access to F and Platinum lounges, which seems odd. They might limit it to just their own program when they find out how many OW Emerald's there are ready to use their lounge ;)

Interesting they seem to have made their platinum level much easier to get it, at least last year it use to be 450,000 Platinum miles or 375 Platinum sectors in a three year period (platinum miles or sectors were business or first class only). Now it is 100,000 Elite Miles or 130 sectors in a one year period (which now include economy flights).

Based on rough calculations for long haul travel the qualifications for silver, gold and platinum roughly match each other on MH and QF.

So the start date looks to be 1 February. I'm flying business class with them on 27 January - guess that will entitle me to no QFF points :(

Do you have your QFF # on the booking? Would be an interesting experiment to see what actually happens?

I had my QFF number entered in the MH lounge in Perth for my MH flight in late December. It didn't stick though and I ended up with enrich points.

Try and see if you can open the booking in QF's manage my booking using your MH pnr and see if it allows you to add your QFF #

I'm surprised that with less than two weeks to go when Malaysia Airlines formally enter the alliance, none of the member airlines (including Malaysia Airlines, for that matter) have updated their terms and conditions on the FFPs to show the earn rates on Malaysia Airlines (or for MH, on other members of the alliance).

Maybe they are configuring it so that it will be updated on 1 Feb, but still.....

Qantas usually does it on the day that a new partner joins... from previous recollection.
