oneworld adds more benefits for top tier [EMERALD] frequent flyers31 January 2013

oneworld® today unveiled two more benefits for the most regular customers of its member airlines, as part of its strategy of positioning itself as the first choice airline alliance for frequent international travelers.
From midnight tonight, frequent flyer cardholders with oneworld Emerald status will be entitled to:

  • An extra checked baggage allowance, above the standard limit for the cabin class in which they are traveling - either one additional item where the piece concept applies, or an extra 20 kg (44 lbs) where the weight concept applies - when they fly on any oneworld member airline.
  • Use fast track lanes through security when flying from select key airports worldwide on select oneworld member airlines.

These new benefits are in addition to those already offered to frequent flyers with oneworld Emerald status when flying on any oneworld member airline in any class, including:

  • Earning mileage rewards and tier status points.
  • Access to First Class or Business Class lounges on departure, accompanied by a guest. oneworld is the only alliance to offer top tier frequent flyers access to First Class lounges when they are not booked to travel in the First Class cabin.
  • Ability to check-in at First Class or Business Class desks.
  • Priority boarding.
  • Priority on waitlists and when on standby if a flight is fully booked.
  • Access to preferred and pre-reserved seating when offered by the airline operating the flight.

So i have a flight tokyo to bangkok return, i was gonna book JAL cause of oneworld, however just did a price search and malaysian is $1500 cheaper ! From what time zone can i book to get status and points etc? Is it Feb 1 in malaysia, or usa or? Gotta travel in a couple days so need to book, any ideas?

Shouldn't matter when you book.As long as you are flying on MH from 1-Feb you should get the oneworld benefits

So it is now February 1st in New Zealand and still no earning table for MH flights on QF website...maybe in 2 hours...

I hope all the information about earn rates comes out tomorrow.
I wonder if MH will have any promotions for earning miles/points to celebrate their joining of OneWorld...

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

There was talk of double points promotion, can't recall the details though.

The earn rates for QFF on flying MH is the worst! It's much better the other way around. I think it's QF's attempt at trying to halt the mad rush of QFFers from using MH for travel between Australia and the UK/Europe when they are trying to promote their EK tie-up.

Frequent Flyer - Earning Points - Fly - Airline Partners
This is cough!! So QF are trying to dissuade us from flying MH ex Australia by limiting QF points earn. This is so like QF!!!:evil:. I'm not clear about points earn on domestic MH flights; if you can earn QF pts, and hence QF SCs, there might be some cheap SC runs available flying MH domestically.....

Like the lounge listings at KUL on the OneWorld site, especially RJ having a third party lounge operated by MH!
