Missy Higgins rants about Vegetarian options on-board

Who is Missy Higgins again?

Ditto. And even if I did know, why would I care what she (I assume) thinks?

Her debut album hit 9x Platinum in Australia (630,000+ units), and she's won 9 ARIA awards. I think this might be her most famous song (from 2004).

The worst thing about the QF VGML is the little gluten-free cake that tastes like ashes. I tend to fix myself something the in QP, or grab a vegan burrito from Mad Mex.

But sure - QF could certainly do better, especially when I fork out for J. You don't make friends with salad! How difficult would a tofu & veggie stir-fry with rice be?

I'm in F to LHR mid next year to celebrate completing my law degree, so wondering what they'll serve up...

If QF or VA or anyone is going to serve up what they call a Vegetarian meal they should
1. Make sure it is a vegetarian meal
2. The quality and taste should be of similar standard to other meals in that class of travel, good or bad.

I agree. The principle of fairness is hard to argue against.

I think all the food options on Q are very ordinary. On Adelaide flights, usually just a cookie. I wonder if that is vegetarian?

Vegetarian? Yes.

Vegan? No. Their cookies all contain milk solids and/or egg.

I've been on enough QF flights where I've had to turn down the cookie and the cabin crew always want to know why I don't "want to save it for later if I'm not hungry now". They usually look embarrassed when I mention it and they don't have any fruit on board they can give me as a substitute.

I actually thought her Facebook update was articulate and witty.
She posted it on her own Facebook page (190K subscribers or "Likers" of her page). From there it went viral.
Qantas and their various social media arms were not tagged in the post by Missy Higgins.
OT but I totally fail to see that the presence or absence of arm pit hair has anything to do with either being clean and "respectful" or being able to have a whinge on your Facebook about the quality of airline catering.

Wonder what she would make of the slop served in the J lounge?

Vegetarian offerings on airlines is pretty bad across the board. My partner's vegetarian and one of my regular travel partners is also vegetarian, so I would know. QF's vege offerings tend to be consistently bland. MH's vege offerings can be a bit hit and miss too but you have a much better chance of getting something good if you choose Asian/Hindu vege. My fussy vege travelling partner has been quite impressed on several occasions on MH.
My view is that if you CHOOSE to be vegetarian, then you no longer have a CHOICE to complain. I tell my partner and my travelling partner that all the time. :p

The face rings no bells.

Singers are a dime a dozen....

Her first album was huge, the second one was a mediocre success (riding on the success of the first one) and it's been downhill ever since...

Likewise, couldn't work out why that'd be a problem. Personal preference sure, but you don't need to be 'into her' to agree or disagree with the vegetarian options on QF.

Music sounds familiar, but agree about face.

And if you don't CHOOSE to be vegetarian and are on such a diet due to medical reasons? Can you complain then?

While difficult to do on a long haul, if I had medical conditions that strictly limited my food I think I'd bring my own.

Hmm, everyone has to go with the flow. They still serve nuts on planes - plenty of people have major issues with them.

I think a330j has called it correct.

Not sure that means much to me. My music tastes are totally different to everyone else. I love Greek music. Helps if you can understand it. Lot of meaning there especially the older folk, blues and popular songs.

And I do- when it's practical. The point is that I shouldn't have to.

I've paid for catering just like everyone else, so I should get edible food like everyone else. If they can't offer edible food to meet people's dietary needs, then they shouldn't offer the option in the first place, or the cost of the catering built into the ticket should be reimbursed.
