New Amex statement credits

Closed accounts without warning? I thought it was more like "suspended until you provide legitimacy or we'll close". Isn't that precisely what's being asked here by Coles?

I see plenty of innocent parties here too but not the anger. Mild terseness maybe, at having to jump through a hoop, but nothing like the "how very dare they" aimed at VA.

I read on other forums some members got their accounts closed but we have no way to know if they are indeed as innocent as they claim to be.

I believe QF and VA can generate a lot of anger as both airlines are perceived in a negative way in many occasions by unhappy customers. You can tell by the amount of negative threads created about them. Maybe Coles is more trusted to handle this situation fairly.

Guess it's not technically Coles but Indue. I expect Coles would have vetted them before awarding them the contract so customers get continuity of experience you'd get dealing with Coles.

There was I about to legitimately use a VPay to load a RPpCmc for daughter to use in the UK for spending up to 31 Dec to take advantage of the no currency conversion fee for transactions up to and including 31 Dec.

Compensation for inconvenience would be sought if they left my daughter stranded...

I think the issue would be loading them from a whole lot of different cards as it shows up as different accounts. That's what gets the accounts flagged for investigation.

HOLY cough

How many Vpays did you load to elicit that response?

8 vpay - topup and withdraw cash. And now about $250 stuck inside. Its is not about I cant produce legitimate ID and documents, but the hassle  I had 15 vpay ( $1500 profit ), SHould I just let go the $250 ?

Definitely not.

Could your daughter use the VPay card OS anyway, albeit with a conversion fee?

Should I just let go the $250 ?

I wouldn't. Even though it's a hassle (I just posted mine in for 13 VPay cards, it turned into about 40 pages of statements - I hope they drown in paper work), it will prove this strategy is legitimate- up to them to decide if they close it down due to their own feelings on the matter.
Not responding and writing off the money even if you're in profit, sends the wrong message to them.

Just a data point. I emailed a scanned copy of all the documents they asked for to Coles prepaid last night so there's be a record of it.
I just got an email confirming my card is now active again. Will be interesting to see if similar deposit activity via VPay (assuming there are any HN stores still selling them before the offer expires) will result in another 'please explain'. Impressed how quickly they unlocked it and with an email.

It is to do with money laundering legislation, and they need to comply. Provide the requested information and they will be satisfied of your bona fides.

As I suggested above, it is about complying with money laundering legislation. Once they know who you are and can verify it in any audit situation it should be cool.

I used the langtons offer last time - didn't get any this time
Would be interesting to see
Did anybody who got the offer this time - have you ever used a langtons offer before?

Sorry to spam - data points for you.

I've never used Langtons (although I signed up via plat charge). I've gotten the offer across my plat charge, reserve, Mrs CC's Edge, my supp card for her Edge, her Explorer, and my supp on her Explorer. I drink wine, but I've never used them before. I don't really have the space for it either...Good experiences with them?

There would be a lot of AFFers who frequent the wine threads a little jealous of you getting that offer on so many cards. For newbies to Langton's, the statement credit combined with a referral bonus buys you $400 of fine wine for $200
