New Amex statement credits

EDIT, can be more than one transaction as per the T&Cs.

To ensure the trigger of the $700, can the spend be split into lower value cards, as the cards usually bought one at a time aren't they?

Thanks. Looks like its just the gift cards for me then. Shame those can't be used for hotels either.

well if anybody needs more gift vouchers let me know..I will pass on the savings to you

Very generous of you unfunkable.

I'm in a position to do the same if anyone wants to PM me.

I have 10 AMEX so could benefit you to the tune of 10 x $700 Qantas vouchers with $150 back on each purchase.

I've got a gift card overload at the moment from AMEX deals. With Vpay vouchers, David Jones, Myer, Coles Myer group etc I'm holding more than $7500 in vouchers ATM. That's going to make it hard to reach the minimum spend for any new credit card quickly as buying gift cards is usually the way that I do this.

Is it 1 Qantas voucher redeemable per booking? Or can I use say 5x $700 voucher for a $3500 Qantas J class booking?

$150 for $700 at Qantas

https://offerenroll.americanexpress.com/enroll/EnrollmentSitePage?offer=69133QantasOnline

Showed up online on all my and supp cards as well.

Good with 5 points per dollar on voucher?

Not according the the T & C's

Excludes Gift Card purchases, Hotels bookings, Car Rental, Packages, Activities, Insurance, Qantas store, Qantas epiQure and Frequent Flyer Membership.

Whether that's enforced or not is another story. Who wants to the guinea pig?

Help !...looking at the China sale on now for around $599.00 per person...so if I buy the gift vouchers with the Amex offer....do I buy a $1000 voucher for 2 people and pay the difference ..sorry just trying to get my head around this a bit . I have the amex offer on two cards but don't think there is a way to buy a vucher say at 600 or $700 each...any advice ? Thanks

The link says flights only. As purchase of Gift Cards is done differently does anyone KNOW if the $150 would actually be generated on Gift Card Purchases?

Suggest you read the numerous posts above which discuss and confirm this has occurred in the past. No one could 'KNOW' this time around just yet as even if you got the email the credit wont show until at least tomorrow.

Thanks for that but when looking at the Qantas site it goes up to $500 and then jumps to a $1000.....how do you buy a $700 voucher or is it 2 x $350.00 vouchers per person ?

Note that the Amex terms use the language "gift card", but QF does not use that same term.
You could argue that there is an interchange of meanings but it would be strange for them to choose to ignore that description.
Guess it's a copy and paste from other offers from different retailers as a deterrent.

From the Qantas website

Important Information about Qantas Gift Vouchers
  • Vouchers are available in denominations of AU$50, up to AU$500. With the extended option of a AU$1,000 and AU$2,000 voucher. Amounts are in Australian dollars and redeemable for one-way or return Qantas domestic or international flights departing Australia only.

Buying a $200 and $500 gift card would still trigger the $700 spend if that is what you're concerned about.

Wouldn't solve the foxes and geese of 1 voucher per booking and maximising Amex discounts though.
I think the answer is 2x $500 and 2x $200 (1x$500 and 1x $200 with each of two Amexes) using the $500 for the individual flights then combine PNR and save the $200 ones for another day

Here's what I would do in your situation, buy a 2 pax $350 voucher ($700) on one card. Use that to book the flight, paying the remaining $498 (assuming a price of $599) on the other card, and then buy another voucher that exceeds $202 (or however much required to hit the $700 spend).

Ah..didnt realise the 2 pax vouchers worked like that.
I was trying to max gift voucher points too but it does tie up more $$
