New Amex statement credits

Westfield Doncaster refuses to split payment. Initially they were only willing to sell one card which is ridiculous. Amex have sent out an email which disallows split payments to Westfield.
I guess some of them have read that as only one card to be purchased as well.
**** handling of the promotion by Amex imo.

No issues at splitting payments at Myer. Max to load onto one gift card is 500 though.

I wonder how long until Amex disallows sup cards from these promos or restricts to once per actual card account. The westfield and myer offers reached the limit in less than 2 days and there was 30, 35k limits.

Went to Harvey Norman Rothwell and Aspley to buy some of the visa gift cards only to find they're all expired, both stores pulled them all from the shelf.
I did however manage to use my card at each of them before they told me they were expired. and then processed a refund.
I assume once the refund comes through, the statement credit will not clear?

should of switched the refund to another card if it was possible for the refund - unless they visually verify the card, the computer won't know if its a different card.
The statement credit will get reversed

edit: the kind lady at Woden westfields more than happy to split payment across 7 cards...hopefully its still the case when we do our other cards tomorrow!

If you are using the AMEX offer Spend $100 or more, get $20 back at Woolworths online, you could combine with the following offer:

View attachment 85155

Note code ends 4/12/2016. But you could use it to order your groceries for click and collect/delivery 7 days ahead.

My nearest click and collect is 4KM away. So I prefer to save time, petrol and effort with free delivery.

ONEMONTH: Minimum $100 for free delivery using the delivery saver. Note that you need to select the one month saver into your shopping basket before applying the code.

Then with free deliveries for a month I will probably get to use most of my 10 saved wow-onlines. Particularly if other offers bob up.

10WRWOW as you have posted, and also expiring on Dec 4 is 10WRPETROL for the same deal.

So that is my first 3 shops done, each for a smidgeon over $100 each and all with cash rewards to gain an extra $1 per shop off.

% of the potential card carrying population.

So say about 0.2% of the potential card carrying population.

I wonder how much Amex card applications are booming at present. I suspect that they will have spiked upwards this last month Amex card awareness must be growing.

Went to Myer Pitt St and picked a quiet floor and no Coles group gift cards. I was told they no longer had them as Myer and Coles werent together anymore. Went down a couple floors (Lady clothes) and there were heaps of them. I'm so broke now.

Maybe the sales assistant was being technical because it's called the Coles Group/Myer gift card now.

I suspect that they were just confused. Once upon a time the Myers Card was a group Card, whereas now there is a Myers Card and a Group card.

They probably just remember being told that the other stores were not part of the Myer Card anymore and did not realise that there was a group Cards till being sold by the store. A bit like when touring some CSRs and they are not fully or properly aware.

Took advantage of The Body Shop 50/15 offer yesterday with 20% off when buying 2 or more items (Westfield only stores). One more Christmas present out of the way! Received email straight away. Mobile Wallets offer email came but no credit as of yet.

Myer and Dymocks offers will most likely be used in the next month as they are frequently visited by myself.

I'd say you're right - the wide exposure Amex is receiving from these promotions would almost certainly be resulting in increased card applications, and I suspect that may well lead to:

Wouldn't be surprising at all if that happens, especially when you have the situation where (judging by posts on various forums) an increasing number of people apparently have 20+ Amex cards on the one account. If Amex are going to have a "boom" in the number of cardholders, they're going to need to "play fair" by either exponentially increasing the number of registrations allowed, or limiting the use of supplementary cards in these promotions.

Doesn't bother me, I only have one (bank-issued) Amex anyway LOL, but I imagine there will be a LOT of grumbling if such a restriction is applied.

Hi all
I have the Qantas $700/$150 deal saved, but I won't be able to use it sadly. If anyone wants to purchase them some gift vouchers I'll pass all the savings onto you. PM me if keen.
A one transaction higher multiple like a $1000 voucher for $850 would be best unless you really want two separate vouchers.

Made use of the apple pay offer today at Woolies; cant complain getting $10 off the food bill.

Eyeing off the Witchery offer but the item I'm eyeing is on sale for $97 and there doesnt seem to be anything cheap online to bump it back over $100.

Looks like Westfield Sydney are strictly enforcing the $100 per GC limit. Apparently been asked to do so by management and Amex. I even offered to pay for individual $4.95 issue fees they'd be missing out on with the XS and wouldn't budge. Said word has come down from Amex & Westfield.

Surely they cannot add extra conditions after the fact?

Can shipping costs be added to get to $100?

It is interesting that Westfield and AMEX are getting a little agitated with people taking up the Westfield GC statement credit offer. GC are the ONLY thing you can buy and they are a little unhappy we are buying them.

With other offers, say the HN offer, it could be argued that the vPay purchases are not in the 'spirit' of the offer (you should be buying actual goods). The same cannot be said for the Westfield GC offer.

I suspect the issue is in the very name - Westfield.

The Westfield history is all about getting the most out of customers for the least effort/cost by Westfield.

The official Westfield definition of a customer is any person that is not a Westfield employee on duty. Copious court cases about Westfield's 'allegedly unjustly onerous' conditions imposed on small shop owners etc.

So for the offer to actually be taken up widely and used rather than Westfield get free advertising on the AMEX page (in Westfield's terms) is just not on. Westfield is the only party supposed to benefit!

PS:
Yesterday a very irate recent arrival (complete with tags on carry-on bag) was shoving the printed AMEX offer page under the eyes of the Westfield Supervisor and demanding where exactly it stated in the terms and conditions that the payment could not be split or that the max amount had to be $100.

Depends on who serves you. I have been in retail for a long long time, and have pretty much seen it all.
Some staff are just power trippers. I've had my fair share of both ends of the spectrum.

Yesterday I ran $700 in split sales for a westfields giftcard. Lady was more then happy.
Today I ran $500 in split sales - same lady - didn't bat an eyelid. I suspect she's had alot of practice as she was damn fast and efficient!

Lady at myer today let me do split sales as well ( not that there was a card surcharge anyway), but it beats having 4 x $450 giftcards rather then 12x$150 ones.

Only problem is, during one of the transactions with apple pay, my phone went BEEP and it acted like it took the sale, but on her end it said there was an error, the till didn't recognise the payment so there was still $150 owing, so I did the apple pay thing again. Went home and had a look - has 2 pending transcations for the same card. Will one of them be cancelled?
I'll wait and see how the pending ends up but I think I was charged twice....ughh

I call BS on this with regards to Westfield. Just some manager making the rules up as they go along cause they can't stand people benefiting while they miss out. if I can't have then they can't either attitude.

Took advantage of The Body Shop 50/15 offer yesterday with 20% off when buying 2 or more items (Westfield only stores)..

It is for any Body Shop, or online for this weekend. I bought at Chadstone yesterday.

With adult 3 daughters and a wife it was very handy. I normally always get them a similar type present each Xmas. Lush a common buy for this, and so Amex Rebate with the extra 20% it was a good buy.
