New Amex statement credits

Found a pawnbroker on the list and thought I would check it out, ended up with some cheap silver coins for my collection ended up paying under spot price, not for everyone of course, but it was good to try something different, of today to Asian supermarket to check out their offerings.

The funny thing is my local Asian supermarkets are in a shopping centre and the business name is always different to shop name. Plus the address is like shop 441 wing Hong pty Ltd.
When the actual shop is called Asian groceries.

And I can never work out what the actual shop number is

Tongli Asian stores in Ashfield, Hurstville are great and are on the small shop list.

Also different cards used in the same shop at the same terminal can have varied email outcomes. It seems quite random.

Indeed, different terminals in the same shop can yield different results as I have found with local champion. Two terminals (one old style, one new CBA style) come up as different merchants in LC.

Is there a list of Amex-friendly Go-card merchants?

Just tried two places in the Brisbane CBD:

Creek St News (40 Creek St): No go card with AMEX. Was willing to do it with a surcharge after I asked but would not allow splitting the payment to multiple cards.

City News (10 Eagle St): Again usually no go card with AMEX. Was quiet and she agreed to do it with no surcharge and was happy to split payments. $20 on 8 cards, emails received immediately.

Good to know, thank you. What was the surcharge at Creek St News?

Didn't get that far into the conversation as I wasn't interested without splitting the payment. If I'm struggling to max out the offer I may go back in a few weeks for one card.

Current AMEX offer is spend $30 get $10 back for Event Cinemas (ends December 4). Add this new offer and you may be able to stack to get spend $50 get $20 back (would include extra $10 credit made to the gift card rather than cash back to your AMEX account):

Cinebuzz Christmas Offer

I registered my Platinum Charge card in the Amex app yesterday but Shop Small was not showing as an offer for the Explorer or Platinum Reserve cards.

Today I've tried to register both my Explorer cards, my Platinum Reserve and Westpac Black Amex cards on the registration site THINK BIG. SHOP SMALL. but get this message for whichever card I try so they must already have their 100,000 registrations:

"We're sorry, this offer is no longer available. Please visit AMEX Offers for other fabulous offers."

Yep, 100,000 limit reached. You cannot delay with these sort of offers.

A quick read of the seagull v chip fight that is Oz Bargain reveals the desperation (I don't think that's an exaggeration) that applies to many AmEx deals, particularly when it involves Opal top-ups. It's only getting worse as the banks ditch the co-branded AmEx's.

It’s only going to get worse when more people cottoned onto these Amex deals. One bloke on another forum boasted about having 90 cards so there’s 90 signups consumed already. The Amex bonus points offer for signing up new supplementary cards only make things worse as there’s more incentive to get your cat a card when your dog already has one. Even I’m contemplating changing from the normal Plat charge to the business one just so I can get more supps at the expense of not having a free Reserve card.

If you’ve noticed a pattern on OzB, some of us are insomniacs and will post links/started registering at 3am...literally it’s you snooze you lose in this scenario.

My IGA which has gone into administration and dropped off my LC spends, has come up a small shop. Was a bit worried when an unusual name came up for a shop small.

Did a quick google and found they came up on ASIC. So if your in Footscray or Werribee, they also have liquor stores.

Company: BLERIOT NO. 17 PTY. LTD.
ACN: 007 261 261
Trading name: TRADING AS SIMS IGA PLUS LIQUOR FOOTSCRAY
Company: SIMS SUPERMARKET WERRIBEE PTY. LTD.
ACN: 090 744 219
Trading name: TRADING AS SIMS IGA PLUS LIQUOR WERRIBEE
Status: Administrators Appointed
Appointed: 06 July 2017

Administrators appointed...don't buy any gifts cards!

Thanks prozerran. I had discovered that about 15 minutes ago while logged in to the Amex app and saw it there for both my Explorer cards. I've then gone online and added my Westpac Black Amex and my Wife's Explorer card and was coming here to post that they have increased it to 118,000 and I see that you've beaten me to it! Amex must have had complaints about how quickly it originally became unavailable.

From memory they have extended it on prior years
