New Amex statement credits

Please remind what VPay can be used for?

Also - HN still available to register and did anyone mention the Merivale spend $40 get $20 credit?
its just a virtual visa card, so good for paying bills online

Did some of the mygift2u cards from HN get hacked last time this promotion was on?

Yes. As a result it's now impossible to check the balance of these cards unless you contact them directly.

My understanding is that those cards that were hacked were refunded. But it took many weeks to get your money back.

As is usual with these types of cards it's prudent to use them as soon as possible.

My local HN were strict on not splitting vpays. In previous times, it went without a hitch. Still plenty of time....

Has anybody in Melbourne found an HN selling physical prepaid visas? I went to two today I had bought them from previously but they only had vPay now. I prefer the physical card. Feel free to PM if you prefer

24 x $500 mygift2u gift cards purchased at Harvey Norman today. No problems at all. Staff knew exactly what was going on and asked me how much I made today off the 24 cards.

Hi Folks,

A quick update here from my afternoon experience in Harvey Norman, location is Auburn Harvey Norman flagship store. The store has put notice in the front of cash register, " We do not take AMEX for any gift cards purchases", we do not split payments if you use AMEX to pay. The restriction will last until AMEX promotion finishes which is 31/12/2017.

I usually find Auburn store is quite hard to deal with, their sales staffs are quite arrogant most of the time.

Thanks for letting us know!! How annoying, isn't a sale better than no sale? *confused*

She initially said no AMEX for the payment for any purchase, I confronted her Don't put yourself and this store on shame, as AMEX has always been an accepted payment method in Harvey Norman, then she hestiated to admit that no AMEX for GC purchase, the decision is from the Store Manager. If you want to use AMEX to pay for items, you have to pay for the entire amount in ONE transaction.

Pretty poor form. Maybe worth a whinge to head office?

I reckon just move on. Terms state on amex cashback offer that gift cards are to be excluded. No need to push on the matter and shine a light onto gift card purchases.
I bought at castle hill HN and they were fine.

Agree slightly, most of them case I agree with you to move on. However, despite T&C mentioned exclude gift cards, it's about the matter for AMEX to decide offer cash back, not Harvey Norman. In this case, Harvey Norman as a merchant refuses to sell gift cards to certain payment method not other goods in the store, I believe there's something to do with fair trading.

Can they really refuse you though.

Imagine the amount of people that have no idea about these offers and have AMEX cards.

Complete rubbish really and has to be in violation of fair trading you'd think.

I agree. Max 40k registrations yet the store is assuming that everyone is using their Amex ONLY to get a credit to which the store manager has decided they are not entitled to. Many HN stores will find they are turning away potential gc purchasers just because they want to pay with an Amex even though the purchaser is not registered in the promo.

Exactly. This is I feel as the same as Woolworths store managers saying you can't buy gift cards with gift cards or you cannot do self check out even though the system allows it

Its just a power game..
Maybe they get joy out of preventing people from using it.
Or some pathetic justification.
The more they sell. The more profit they make as the cash back comes from Amex directly
