I was speaking with Amex about another issue so took the opportunity to ask about this. They said the offer was so popular that they would be crediting it by the end of July.

Agreed. Many of the offers are popular and well subscribed, but they manage to credit on time. I have made a diary note to follow up at the end of the month.
