New Amex statement credits

a question for the experts, I used a red energy statement credit a while back, got the credit, had an account issue when transferring, they refunded the payment, clawed back the bonus which was expected. the offer is no longer on my amex login, but I keep getting emails saying the offer is expiring soon

curious, will it work again? the T/Cs do say, to save the offer, but its no longer there

Spend $50 for $10 credit at food delivery services - includes Deliveroo, Hey You and Menulog.

Just a heads up for anyone who used this offer with Hey You - you probably won't receive the $10 credit automatically.

I spent $53 in a single transaction at my usual caffeine dealer, 10 business days have passed with no statement credit so I raised via Live Chat. The response was:

I refused to accept this and requested it be escalated as I paid with my Amex card directly in the Hey You app - the only way to pay except for Google Pay which obviously falls foul of the same fine print.

If Hey You process all their direct payments using Stripe, and Amex classes that as a 3rd party payment processor, that would make their inclusion in this offer (and any future Amex Offers) misleading as it's impossible to meet the requirements. After requesting escalation the agent opted to just give the $10 credit instead and said they would mention to the marketing team...

We shouldn’t have to work so hard for $10

You're right, and classing Stripe as a 3rd party payment processor is problematic and sets a stupid precedent IMO.

Which backend provider my supplier uses to process payments is not something I have any visibility or control over, unlikely paying through PayPal, Google Pay or Apple Pay which the consumer plays a part in choosing at checkout.

From where I sit Stripe is no different to Square, Tyro, or any of the Aus banks who provide payment facilities, which begs the question: If Amex deems Stripe a 3rd party payment processor, isn't virtually every merchant facility provider also one? How on earth are we supposed to use our Amex without it going through a 3rd party payment processor....

I topped up my Hey You account with $50 on Jan 5. No Amex email and no sign off the offer reporting as redeemed.

On Jan 18 went onto live chat and staff immediately recognised offer as part of Food Delivery offer and opened a case with the offers team. Told me to wait 5-7 business days.

On Jan 28 noticed the offer was now 'redeemed'.

Today (Jan 31) credit received backdated to Jan 28. Narrative is Stripe Inc.

I had the offer on 2 other cards but decided not to bother as Amex systems are obviously not setup to auto-recognise Stripe (and Square) transactions. Clearly if Amex are going to promote offers from Amex participants that only process through these payment systems they need to be. At least in my case Amex didn't try the 3rd party payment excuse.

New offers;

Country Road 100 /20
Roses Only - 100 / 20
The Athlete's Foot - 150 / 20
More shoes! I actually need some new runners…

Got these on my QF Gold CC and QF Biz card but Country Road on the Gold card only - no great loss.
