New Amex statement credits

Pelago 100 / 30

The offer shows in the app although I was unable to save it.

Update - able to save the offer now.
Just a reminder to anyone using this offer, the initial failure to save the offer to your card, followed up by the successful saving of it, doesn't refresh the backend.

I made a total of 100 AUD transactions, per card, over 3 cards, a couple of weeks ago. Each card had the offer saved, I double checked this before purchase, and made 2 transactions of 90 AUD and 10 AUD per card. This should satisfy the offer (spend $100 or more, over one or more transactions), but nothing yet in terms of emails or indications the offer has been registered.

On Live Chat with them at the moment and their answer? "I don't see the offer saved to any of your cards" 🤷🏽‍♂️
So I had to upload screenshots to the Document Centre of my account, one per appropriate card, and they're saying they still can't see it enrolled.

Damn, why would they fight so hard on an error that's on their end, all for a measly 30 bucks 🤔

I've also registered for the same offer and even received a reminder recently that it's expiring soon. Did your transactions appear as "PELAGO SINGAPORE"?

Yes exactly. When did you make your transactions? Mine was 28 July, and it still hasn't moved from "Saved Offers" to "Redeemed" or "Savings", which normally is what happens when an offer is redeemed.

Was yours a single >$100 transaction?

What I think has happened is that the offer wasn't properly coded into their system - so when we did successfully save it, it didn't actually stick. So now we're stuck with a defective offer (and useless CS agents who blame you for not saving it).

My chat actually got so frustratingly useless that I requested an escalation to a supervisor. Can't believe it. How far has Amex fallen...

Oh I haven't reached the threshold yet
I see. Well keep your expectations tamed, chances are that even when you do hit the threshold, it won't trigger the offer...
Sorry patience running very thin at the moment with the Live Chat conversation that's not going anywhere...

I got the $30 cashback from my Pelago spend after 5 days posting from Encounters Pty Ltd.
Interesting, you seem to have a different merchant on yours (Encounters Pty Ltd vs Pelago Singapore that @AIRwin and I got to see)...

The spend (single transaction > $100) was recorded as Pelago Singapore but the $30 cashback came from Encounters Pty Ltd.

Interesting. Maybe because it was a single >$100 transaction in your case.

Mine was $90 + $10 (the $10 is a throwaway ticket to get to the $100 threshold).

Still no credit, nor any update from Live Chat as promised by the supervisor.

You're lucky you got a real offer! I got a farcical "Get 10K points for spending $10,000" ... yeah, right ... in which alternative reality on which planet is this an offer?!?!

Yes I also got one of those for spending 10K on pay.com.au So I took that one up as well.

First 10K bonus just posted on 4 Aug for 1 Aug $1000 (made up 3 smaller spends).

Second 10K bonus of points just posted on 9 Aug for a $1007 spend on 4 Aug.

So that is 20K so far from this promo. 10K still to go (I have not spend the third $100+ yet) and 10K for the pay.com.au promo. So 30K is a couple of weeks which is nice.

I had similar issue with the Hilton offer. Single transaction > $400 cashback posted in few days while multiple transactions took almost two weeks (from last transaction) to post. Hopefully it means your Pelago cashback is just delayed.

Thanks for posting your experience @boomy. Do you remember if in the multiple transactions scenario, did the offer remain in the "Saved Offers" section or did it move to the "Savings" tab?

This is how I've usually checked on offers in the past, especially in the absence of any email confirming offer usage (they seem to have stopped sending those?). Mine are still stuck in "Saved Offers" which is leading me to believe that the offer hasn't actually registered the spend.

It doesn't help that the initial attempt to save the offer threw an error, and then when followed up after a whole 2 weeks, the agent said "I can confirm that the offer is *not* saved in your account". I'm following up again today - I really shouldn't have to jump over so many hoops and run so many marathons all for the sake of $30 × 3. Really disappointed in Amex now if I'm being honest, after being such a loyal cardmember to them all these years.

Sorry for the rant haha, it just sucks that Enshittification has hit my favourite credit card company.
