New Next Gen Card and Bag Tags have arrived!

You only get the complimentary pass when you requalify/qualify so if you have a Dec anniversary date you probably got the new NGCI bag tags/card now and might get your pass closer to your renewal date?

I just requalified at the end of October so got my new card and tags as part of my renewal. I guess the invitation might come in a separate mailing and might call them if nothing turns up soon. Today might not be the best day to call QF though:)

I've just been reading the fine print in the NG package. point 7 - Priority boarding is available on selected Qantas operated flights with a QF flight number on your ticket.

So basically not on any domestic flights. What a complete load of horse do, to even pretend that is a benefit.

I'm also restraining myself on the semantics of the partner/friend gold wording.

I don't think you get a complimentary pass when requalifying. I certainly didn't get one when I requaled earlier this year.

Hmm, I get AIR, but don't have (nor have ever had) PG.
I have easily made it to WP each year for the last 3 years or so, and fly almost entirely QF metal.

The exception that proves the rule? :)

I get AIR, and I highly doubt I am in the top 1-3%. Work for a NGO so domestically fly deep discount Y. Fly for leisure in J domestically several times a year when flight is 3+ hours, and on DONE4s twice a year primarily on QF to JFK/LHR and connect onto BA to CAI or JED.

I thought you got one pass per year:

One complimentary invitation to The Qantas Club

Use your complimentary single visit invitation and relax or catch up on work in any Qantas Club, including International Business and Qantas Club lounges#.

+1, although I came close to PG at 2,055 before my SCs expired at the end of October.

Mostly QF metal though - last membership year I did 4 sectors on AA in F (5 if you count a diversion but no points or SCs for that one as we simply refuelled before continuing on :)), 2 sectors on FJ in J (QF #) with the rest being QF metal.

I received one every year when I was silver - it was in the renewal letter with my new card.

I always ended up giving it away though, as I was also a QP member :)

one should get a complimentary invitation each year as part of the silver status. I got one last November, even although I had dropped from Gold to silver (and they gave me a 3 month complimentary QP extension)

Another point of note in the fine print is that while Silver status will from Feb not give you access to the business check in counter oneworld ruby still provides this with oneworld partners, but what about international partners such as Alaskan (AS)?
The last time I checked in with AS at Boise (BOI) there was hardly a queue at the one check in, so I can't really tell.

Sounds like you got this at the end of your year, when they do the check on status. Perhaps the problem is that I got qualified silver in the previous member year and this member year I have got to platinum. Hence no new silver card needed or sent, as I requaled in March and then hit Gold in May.

I'm not sure if I should ring and ask for it or not. Ummmm
To do so would really put the W in WP. ;)

I would - it is a published benefit and could be given to someone else to sample the lounge.

I just called. The new pack comes when you retain silver. I didn't retain silver it seems. I qualifed silver in 2009 and then in 2010 qualified first gold and then platinum. So that makes some sense.

Sorry for being wrong about the pass.

I just hit Silver with old tags and was given a pass. Would have preferred the new tags though.

Mr Timtammi and I got our NG bag tags and new SG FF cards yesterday. Interesting that we do nearly all of our flying together but I got comped gold till 2012 and he did not. Maybe because my reset date is 31/3 and his is later in the year? Nice thought but I should be WP by my reset date anyway.

Cheers

Timmi

We got all excited when the package turned up today. All looked very flash but I thought the colour of the tags was wrong. Yes it was all about my new PS card and what I could do with it! Of course I qualified for SG about three days before my anniversary so I should expect another pack to arrive any day!
At least I've got plenty of bag tags. It's almost like have PPS (Partner PS):p.

Kids loved the box! My son thought it was some form of bribery to try and make us keep flying QF after the A380 incident (yesterday!).

Have you got a pic of the PS delivery kit? Would like to spoil my surprise and know what I'll be receiving early next month.

One of my spaniels has just munched one platinum tag, I reckon he thought it was a mini frizbee.;)
