I think the grey tags look quite rakish, obviously designed to complement the Peter Morrissey jail uniforms.

The problem with the uniforms is that everyone in the cabin gets them, with no indication of who has which status. Worn as earrings the new bagtags would make one stand out as not just any J inmate.

Alas, :( Alan J has sent me nothing yet, possibly because my anniversary is May, I dont have an AUS address and my middle name is code share.

lol, thanks for the giggles I've just had

Also renovations now clearly happening in SYD J Lounge with fake wall up on left hand side as you walk in. Computers are also now all Apple and the individual printers (that used to be with the PCs) have gone.

That wall/material was there in mid-October, I remember taking a long look at it.

Got mine today. I must say they are not as bad as I expected. The photos and "CD size" descriptions make them sound much larger than they actually are.

Would have been nice to have my complimentary status extension on them that I received last year, but requalified within the last 2 weeks anyway, before my assessment in May. I'm not entirely convinced unused extensions actually roll oever. Oh, well!

Received my gold tags on Tuesday...WOOHOO! Very snazzy indeed...Just in time to use on Wednesday's flight out of Perth!

BUT....I had some trouble using the tag when checking in my bag.

Friendly staff at the ready, but still no luck registering my bag..Was led to the service counter and the staff member also had trouble getting the tag to register but she let out a cry of relief when it finally worked...

Well I arrived safely in Canberra at 22:30, but I was paged, only to be told that my bag is on it's way to Melbourne...Will be delivered to my hotel in the morning (heard that before)....They gave me yet another pack with Qantas branded tshirt, shorts and toiletries..they are grey this time..The time before they were white..At least they gave me a men's pack this time!...

Sort of takes the gloss off... :(

Hehe, bodes well. Perhaps it's a good thing they're not used for international flights .... yet.

Teething problems I'm sure, but how long has it been going in Perth now?

Just remember the Q-tags offically launch when SYD launches, so technically the Q tag is not quite up and running as yet.

Brilliant. So have you legally changed your middle name to code share yet?

Haven't got around to changing the surname yet either but I'll probably put Capt. SG Codeshare Pineappleskip Esq. in the deed poll when I do. (I am the skipper of my own lunchtime:))

Wot no grey jarmies?

Wot no grey jarmies?
I wonder if they have increased stockpiles - just in case?

Got my card and tags yesterday, the card looks fantastic! I particularly like the silver lettering and darker colour.

The bag tags however look rather dull, and one wonders, considering the iQ of the baggage handlers, are they going to recognise priority baggage with such a dull grey coloured tag? At least the Business paper tags were nice and bright... will wait to hear people's experience on AFF. Not so much an issue as probably only 1 in 100 domestic flights I actually have checked baggage, and they're no use internationally.

Will be interested to see the SYD J lounge reno tomorrow.

Ahh, so it's the platinum ones that look gray. Maybe the gold breaks up the colour a bit more!

Got mine today.

I've never been or plan to travel to Perth anytime soon, and never travel from Syd, but travel through SYD every other week

And they were the SG ones

I made WP just 10 days ago, so should I expect WP tags soon?

Isn't the whole point of NGCI to automate the system? I expect that the baggage system would sort the WP, SG etc. into separate bins to load and offload the aircraft, reducing manual sorting.

In theory, yes.
In practicality, doubtful.

I believe they just leave the priority bags until all other bags are loaded, thus they come off first.

The true miracle of flight: your bag arriving at the same destination and time as you do. ;)

As with the above reply, they’d have to invest an awful lot more money into the baggage system to pull off something like that, and I don’t see them doing so :(

Their only goal so far is to eliminate staff.

I seem to recall reading that they already did this for palletised baggage (ie: just about anything bigger than a 737).

Don't have time to find a reference right now though :)

Oh, I just thought implementing that sort of technology at every port they fly to and from would be an expensive undertaking, more so than some NGCI poles ;)
