New Next Gen Card and Bag Tags have arrived!

Got my NGCI card and bag tags today. Tags are very, umm, grey.... Anyway, won't get to use NGCI for a while as it isn't operational at MEL yet, so that buys a little bit of time to decide on a suitably coloured suitcase to match the new tags.

Glad they arrived though, my tags (i still had the gold tag on mine, can't be bothered changing them to plat) were pretty manged up...

On the colour i thought it would be much darker... i do wonder what the silver tag will be like...

Are they sending them out on expiry dates?

My expiry is 30 Nov but I got my package complete with new FF card today.

I got mine yesterday. Still not sure what to do with the bag tags. I usually have a tag on my satchel (aka man bag) but not sure these will make it on there.

I also noted the red edging... interesting.

One final point - interesting that mrssimongr who is SG (via WP PG) hasnt had new tags yet...

As I mentioned my tags arrived on Monday and my renewal is 30 Nov. My wifes package (she is WP) arrived today and her renewal is 30 April.



I'm not really sure what if any pattern to make from this.

Just to add to the confusion - my renewal isn't due till 30 June.

I'll add further too - mine came yesterday, and my "year" is Oct 31 so fitted perfectly. The fact I'd qualified Gold in September got me the old style sent out back then. I'm happy to receive the old style as I dont think i'll be WP anytime soon, and I can use the "old style" on my carry-on luggage.

Perhaps if QFF year is Oct/Nov/Dec 2010 then they come with year renewal, but if > 6 months away, it comes anyway (so not waiting forever with SYD coming online in Novemeber 2010).

Perhaps Red Roo can tell us what the rollout plan is? FWIW i've had a few trips throgh SYD T3 this year, none to PER.

What happens if one of the RFID tags is lost - will they replace? If so, at a cost or f.o.c.?

QF don't share the love around our house... just yet (both got the WP Q chip cards during the trial though, so who knows what's up).

Can't open the link, but I think I know the model you're talking about. Great choice, and the contrasting is a nice idea. OTOH I was thinking of expanding my Damier Graphite collection to make the grey blend in a little rather than stand out prominently (says he with the bright red LH leather tags).

Got my SG tags today, end of membership year is 30 Nov. Will qualify for WP in less than a fortnight so hopefully another set soon. Nice white box that might be able to be sold on E Bay one day when I am dead.

I was really expecting much bigger tags based on what has been written here, they are about five cm across for those who haven't got them yet.

Interesting they don't have consecutive bar code numbers. Mine are both in the 77000 cohort, wonder who got tag number one?

They're very bright Gold, even lighter in colour than the card I received in August.

they look rather sturdy and robust, so to me that probably the most important part.

I wonder though, will priority luggage come out first without the appropriate priority tags?

I noticed in the very W from WP booklet that came with it it again refers to priority boarding, I know it has the little disclaimer on there, but I have yet to see that domestically at all ever.

Look like they should be hanging from the rearview mirror of the Paddy mobile, a bit like the furry dice of yesteryear.

My SC's expire Apr 30 and no extension provided.
Even though only 250SC this year, Part 1 of my first DONE4 starts in 2 weeks and should re-qualify WP by 1 Dec.

In the gold book it says "They are also your Priority Baggage identifiers."

Not sure how that fits in with loaning them to a family member. Maybe it gives the priority baggage as well.

Got my cards yesterday (Sydney WP, Jul-11 expiry (even though I have already requal'd) and carried them today.
Also have flight booked out of SYD on Nov-12 (Day 2 of Op) so will refrain from MOCI/OLCI check-in that day.

Poles are now visible (but covered by plastic) on the RHS of Syd Terminal. Also seemed to be new gate terminals at Gate 2. Only a few cm gap between base and scanner. Read my mobile MOCI barcode much more easily.

Also renovations now clearly happening in SYD J Lounge with fake wall up on left hand side as you walk in. Computers are also now all Apple and the individual printers (that used to be with the PCs) have gone.

Well now I know why my cards haven't arrived, damn the lot of you Was on the phone again today. Currently waiting on a SG re-qualification kit from some time ago, WP welcome kit & this new kit. Aust post hates me maybe. In the mean time have had my wallet taken and had every card replaced including store loyalty cards.

Currently my only valid oneworld member card is AA paper status. Wonder if that will get me into a CX Flounge in the near future lol. Maybe I can just draw one in crayon or something. Counting down the days...
