#3 on the Labrador watch...... I dont fancy seeing it post digestion, won't look so stylish then!

QF: Hello, this is Qantas Premium. How may I help you?
Stealth: Hi yes, I need a new Q tag. Mine has been damaged.
QF: Sorry, sir. May I ask how it was damaged?
S: Err yes, my dog ate my tag...

:)

Have you got a pic of the PS delivery kit? Would like to spoil my surprise and know what I'll be receiving early next month.

Ask and ye shall receive- in glorious iPhone-o-vision.

For reference: QP PS renewal based in TSV, haven't been through PER this year but have been through SYD on a number of occasions. Membership year ends 30 Nov, but I will scrape in as an SG by then... and the shiny-card anticipation starts again!

Cool thanks for that! I hope they send me one, though I’m going to call and ask for one anyway, or at least find out if I should expect one.

Thanks for posting, appreciated even if it's only in iPhone-o-vision :D

Well, my lovely gold bag tags arrived the day before I was heading to Rio de Janeiro for a week, so I thought I may as well give one a tryout to see how they stood up to the task.

As you can see by the photo, not very well!

The bag was loaded on in ADL, then transferred at SYD, AKL, SCL then off loaded at GIG.

I'll be interested to see how it stands up to the return journey!

Jeez! Did they even test them or did it just look cool so they produced a million?

I think cardboard might stand up better ;)

Oh right..... of course, they probably just quickly drew them on a napkin, flipped a coin to decide what material to use then moved on.... Who needs testing...

I've flown 6 segments already with them no prob. Like anything that travels down into the depths of the luggage system I'm sure there will be the same level of ad hoc reports of damage and loss.

Just checked with the J Lounge staff and they said you will be able to buy the new tags in vending machines down near check-in for $50 a piece.

Haha, as if I would buy them.

I have my freebies, that'll do me.

How much do you reckon it costs QF to make these things?

$1?

$0.50?

I'd imagine there is a nice profit margin in that $50 price tag

So they might be $50 for Bronze/non-QFFs, but what about if a PS/SG/WP/CL has one damaged or lost? Will QF send out free replacements like they did with the old tags?

I guess if you ask nicely, and it was lost/damaged on a QF flight, they should.

Cheers,
- Febs.

And for those WP's that want to check in 3 bags domestically too. I'm tempted to ring and ask for more, just as spares. They happily sent the old ones out, so you'd hope WP/SG would get them gratis for extras (not everyone has only 2 bags they travel with).

Called QF this evening, straight through to an operator. Was going to ask if I could get a next gen card and the operator said they had sent a second batch out already, and my account shows I should get delivery this week.

I said, bit of a costly exercise seeing as they sent me an old card last week, to which she said "tell me about it" :p

So perhaps they’re sending all cards out from now. Either way, to those that haven’t received them yet, I’d expect them.

I have been wondering if the trial and initial issue of NG cards etc was part of the development contract. Hence already paid for anyway?

Received my silver card and tags yesterday as my SC review was the end of October. If the silver and platinum look similar I guess the level of mixups will increase.
Also with paper labels it would be easier to notice a misplaced bag - for example a solitary bag labelled SYD on a trolley of other bags going to PER.

I can also envisage the tags falling off in time as the rubbery straps that loop around the suitcase handle perish. The one off plasticised paper labels were single usage and were more resilient than the old QF credit card type ID labels with plastic loops.

Thought this might happen... any chance of you posting a pick of a silver one with a white sheet of paper next to it?

mrsdocs arrived today. Newly qualified SG after being QP silver. Qualified SG on Oct 25.
