Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Tonight after a fantastic 2 game indoor beach volleyball night where we spanked the opposing two teams, I'm sitting down to this EpiQure wine:

An interesting wine - a modest nose, with oak coming through. Not long on the palate and went well with cheese and apple

So tonight is still 1992 but the cabernet.According to Tahbilk still at it's peak.Once again they are right.Beautiful, well balanced wine.

The Tahbilk corks are always good quality. But enough of this fancy smancy glasses. The only glass to drink wine from is a big one!

Have you remembered to re-stock your cellar since 1992 drron :p.

Haven't tasted a Tahbilk that old, but have enjoyed a 2006.

I recall being in Hobart in winter with two friends several years ago and trying some local reds ... We all thought they were terrible! We specifically went to a bottle shop and bought a Tahbilk (Can't remember whether it was Shiraz or Cab Sauv) ... Much more enjoyable (even if it was current vintage!).

I thought I'd do some "quality control" of some of my recent purchases - so I tried out the 2012 Amelia Park Reserve Shiraz, and also (but not pictured) the 2012 Amelia Park Cabernet Merlot. I decanted both - the Cabernet Merlot is still young and punchy but was better after a few hours after decanting. I'll keep this stored away to drink in a few years time.
The Shiraz was a beautiful drop even now, displaying really nice fruit and length - but will also get better with age. Had around a glass left in the decanter 24 hours later and was still drinking well.

Have been biting my tongue for a number of days since the wine looks great but I really wanted to write "QF WP - you just gotta get over these labelled glasses, Bru!" But maybe I won't...:cool::lol::evil:

Got this fancy wooden box delivered today with six Thomas Hardy Cab Sav 2012 bottles inside. Interesting mix from Coonawarra and Margaret River.

It's screw cap and can cellar for 8-12 years.

Will have one tonight with dinner and put the rest away for a few years.

Time is ripe and right for Torbreck Factor.
Wow, wow and wow. Sad that Dave Powell is no longer with Torbreck.
Keenly awaiting his next new release.

But what's it taste like?

Well...TBH I wasn't impressed. It was just too simple and too mild. There was nothing there to justify the $130 RRP or even the actual price payed of $65. In these price ranges I'm expecting some "Wow" factor but got nothing here. I had much cheaper Coonawarra Cab Savs which impressed me more then this one.
Hopefully it's just a case of too young to drink now and it will be better in a few years.
