Re: Nice Wines I have DranK Recently - Red or White

Slight quandary on pics for this trip so I've decided to post wine pics here and general food travel in the TR.

That's good selection by the glass. In an Enoteca, I presume?
No, 'just' a steakhouse in the Hyatt. We've found US steakhouses especially in Seattle have really excellent wine lists. Kind of shame I must drink Washington and Oregon wines from now on (one must make sacrifices for one's art) as the Stag's Leap Cabernet Sauvignon is just brilliant. Luscious, good fruit, long depth. Very good example of how good Napa Cabs can be. But I think we'll manage. :)

If you try the Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Marina del Rey (15 minutes north of Los Angeles airport) they have the Silver Oak Cab Sav for $28 a glass and it is a beauty as well so going for a longcut to Seattle may be un-necessary.

Sorry, what I meant was an entoteca wine machine - at least that what I think they are usually called. You know - the devices where the bottles are all pressurised with argon gas to keep the wine from oxidising and measured serves can be automatically dispensed.

Ah sorry. Don't know. They poured out of sight, unfortunately.

Interesting Willamette valley Chardonnay - very Chablis style, light fruits little mako or oak. In the end not to my palate.

A delightful drop at lunch today (venue was Hilton Brisbane, hosted by investment manager Schroders).

Really need to find this (Vinomofo?), light to medium bodied, some astringency but medium to long in the palate. Dark red berries is all that I could pick up. Needless to say, out table completely drained the bottle.

Beautifully paired with a steak which melted in the mouth.

Anybody else had this before? The white wine was also a Quarisa, but not opened

Had it before in Sheraton SYD exec lounge, nice drop.

Something a bit different tonight - Pertaringa 'singe vineyard' Tannat 2009.
Got it a few years ago from their McLaren Vale cellar door and I remember the owner was very proud to be the only one in the region who grows this grape.

And what was your verdict?

Visited this winery on the Saturday ... Tiny and in the middle of nowhere in the Yarra Valley, but the wine was fantastic!

Upintheair, JohnM and I can't remember who else, they make a Sauvignon Blanc that doesn't taste like kiwi Sav blanc! Oaked and made in the French style ... Awesome!

They only make four wines - Sauv Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cab Merlot. All were excellent, but the whites were the standout, especially at $26 each.
