Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

I must confess, I can't recall if I have ever tried the 407.
I have recently begun drinking Cab Sav again after my love affair with Shiraz. I forgot how good a decent Cab Sav can be. That said I do have a solitary 707 sitting in my cellar.
I love shiraz but I sometimes think I'm more a cab sav drinker. Especially a good coonawarra cab.

Been having a quiet week preparing for the onslaught of Pinot and Chardonnay in the Willamette Valley next week but all this talk of Shiraz forced me to go down stairs and retrieve this one. Drinking superbly. Nice fruit, soft spice and lovely finish.

QFWP sorry but couldn't find any Reidel labels but I hope this will do, just to show I can be as subjunctive about my wines as the next person!

Coconut chocolate also going down a treat

Trying to pretend I don't have flu. Even with 'off' tastebuds it still tastes really good. A little young but nothing a few years wont fix (needed to check that it wasn't worth returning).

First time to drink this Italian grape: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. We had this excellent wine in a very good Italian restaurant in SYD.

This drop is perfect for anyone who is looking to try a full bodied Italian red.

I'm sure TheRealTMA will be able to give us all the details on this!

I've just tried this for the first time - and I'm impressed. Yet another unusual variety, and a well-made wine, from Marq (I do stress that I have no affiliation with them).

A box full of mixed wines ordered from them a couple of days ago arrived this morning and I couldn't resist trying this one tonight. I'm working my way through their portfolio and I continue to be really impressed.

According to the description in Jancis Robinson et al. 'Wine Grapes' it is often used to make sweet wine in France. But give me this drier expression any time! I think it would be a cracker with Asian food carrying a bit of chilli heat and spice.

Just rummaging around a little more, I find that Horton Vineyards in Virginia, LOTFAP also produce Petit Manseng. But, relevant to something I posted way upthread about having an absolute cracker Albarino (so true to type) in Virginia while I was roaming around there last year - these were the guys. They are also well into different varieties.

Anyone travelling in that region, I can really recommend trying the wineries in the region. Of course, a major attraction of the region is access to the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park (I went to the wineries on the way back to Charlottesville after doing the drive, which is a comfy day trip from that nice town) and the northern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway (one of the 'World's Great Drives').

After that, I drove the full length of the Parkway (about 750 miles) from Virginia to N Carolina. It is truly stupendous. Allow three days.

Here's Horton: Horton Vineyards White Wine

I do note that the Albarino is not listed under their whites, but it is on the .pdf price list. They obviously need a website update...
