Sorry to hear that QF WP :(

Was the wine good?

Last Tuesday of the month's blind wine options tastingsIMG_3309.jpgScrewcap 10.9%
Pale yellow straw in the glass. Clear meniscus. Intense lemon citrus, green apple and toasty bottle age complexity. Dry and tight but beginning to round out. Classical unoaked Hunter Semillon (An 03 tasted recently had even greater acidity)

Holm Oak The Wizard Chardonnay 2012.IMG_3311.jpgIMG_3310.jpgOne for the tennis buffs! Screwcap. A surprisingly ripe 14% alc for N.Tasmania. Light golden straw in colour with a nose of citrus, apricot and white peach. Malo and spicy oak. An elegant wine with a fine minerality to the palate.

Main Ridge Half Acre Pinot Noir 2006IMG_3312.jpgScrewcap. Garnet with an orange halo in the glass. Dark cherries and barnyard characters leading to a mid-weight palate. Complex earthy/stalky tones adding complexity. Fine dry mouthfeel.

Ata Rangi Pinot Noir 2006IMG_3313.jpgIMG_3314.jpgScrewcap 13.5%
Deep garnet hue. Aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, spice and orange chocolate! Forest floor, mushrooms and a hint of white pepper .A talc-like velvety mouthfeel fills the palate. Very moreish!

Grant Burge Filsell Shiraz 2005IMG_3315.jpgIMG_3316.jpgCork.
Ruby red. Aromas of raspberries, dark chocolate, spices and vanilla bean. Black plum, raspberry and kirsch on the palate. Fruit forward Barossa with supportive tannins and vanillin oak giving balance and length.

Rockford Basket Press Shiraz 2005 IMG_3317.jpgIMG_3318.jpgCork. 14.5%
Deep purple almost black ink in the glass. Nose of black fruits, dark chocolate and plum pudding. Complex palate of plum, raspberries, leather, black olives and spice. Whiffs of vanillin oak. Fine tannins and a long finish.

Visiting my parents and being in Italian mood after a recent trip picked this Chianti Classico from my dad's cellar.

This Peppoli 2007 became "full bodied" Chianti with dark red colour and full flavour, loved it!

How was the Xanadu 2012?

I've put a case of this down but keep buying random bottles as it's a great wine now. Was best Cab in show at Royal Adelaide in 2013. It's actually a 89/6/5 blend of Cab Sauv/Malbec/Petit Verdot, hence nicely rounded. Vivid purple in the glass. Nose of black fruits, mocha and perhaps bay leaf. On the palate blackberries, chocolate, tobacco/cigar box. Medium bodied with finely textured tannins firming to a delightfully long finish. Screwcap, unlike the 2002 Saltram that was corked!

And the Hanna's Swing?

Not what I was expecting! Hadn't tried one before. Great colour and fruit on the nose. Ripe luscious fruit on the palate but no oomph. All on the front palate, like it hadn't been on oak. No length but delicious fruit. How have others found it?
